Speedy deletion nomination of Elena Volkova edit

A tag has been placed on Elena Volkova requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 07:39, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Elena Volkova edit

The article Elena Volkova has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable artist.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Precisions for removal Proposed deletion of Elena Volkova edit

I think that the following facts show notability of the artist :

- noticed by Vasyl Yermylov and Michael Alpatov

- recorded by Nathalia Brodskaïa in "Naive Art" ed. Parkstone International. Sorry I have only french version of this book : ISBN 978-1-85995-668-7 p. 35 (you can see the web version of the book :[1])

- recorded by Xenia Bohemskaïa Ксения Богемская "The Soviet naïve art" "Советское наивное искусство" ed.Интерроса ISBN 978-5-91105-018-4 p. 12, 16, 229, 324-325 (you can find a PDF abstract at http://www.knigiwam.ru/images/naiv_iskusstvo/naiv_iskusstvo.pdf , summary p. 382)

- a citation of Sergei Tarabarov of the Gallery of Naive Art "Dar" (National Center for Contemporary Art of Moscow (NCCA))[2]

- a reference of a permanent exhibition : Collection of Gallery of Naive Art (National Center for Contemporary Art of Moscow (NCCA))[3]

- Exhibition in Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Exhibition " Peace to everybody![4]

- Exhibition in Tretiakov gallery of Moscow (first museum of Moscow)[5].

The "noticed by" remarks carry no weight, as they cannot be independently verified. The links given are not in English, and thus cannot be verified without a great deal of trouble. This artist might be notable enough for the Russian-language Wikipedia, but I just don't see it happening in English. Sorry. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 14:54, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I just noticed this. As you saw, the article wasn't deleted, and as you may have suspected, this is not our policy. It would be nice if all sources were in English, just as it would be nice if all reference books and papers were available free to access on the internet. But neither of those things are true. A reference in Russian or Japanese or Swahili is no more of a problem than a reference to a hard-to-find book or journal. Someone can always check them if they care to do the work. Regards, Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:25, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is not entirely correct. An article needs to have some way to verify facts claimed by the author in the language in which the Wikipedia article appears, even if it is just one. It is not incumbent upon editors to endeavor to translate references from other languages; it is incumbent on the original author to provide sources that can be verified readily. As it stands now, this article will likely be deleted. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 00:00, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alyona Azernaya's pictures edit

Hello. I do not think you are using the correct license tags for the images by Alyona Azernaya that you are uploading. Unless you are Ms Azernaya, these are not your own work. They are her work. And taking a picture of someone else's copyrighted work does not make it yours, but only a derivative work. It is likely that these images need to be deleted unless you can obtain Ms Azernaya's permission to upload them here. This also applies to the images which you have uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons. Angus McLellan (Talk) 10:22, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

For the images here, on the English-language Wikipedia, the process is explained at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. It includes an example email that can be used. For the ones on Wikimedia Commons, it is explained at Commons:OTRS, again another sample email there. It's the same email really, BUT the email address is different. If you sent it to the wrong address it shouldn't matter, but it is easier if it goes to the right one.
There is no need to send an email for every image. Just one email to each address will do as long as the images are all mentioned in that one email. Hope this makes sense, Angus McLellan (Talk) 11:30, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ok copyright permission of the artist will be received and forwarded in few hours. Thanks Qqchose2sucre (talk) 12:26, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Mille mercis. Angus McLellan (Talk) 14:45, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I sent permission on permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Do you want I forward this permission to you ? I think I put most of the pictures on wikipedia-en, instead of wikicommons; is it possible to load from wikipedia-en to wikicommons. Merci à vous
I can copy the images to Commons but I'll wait until the permissions thing is sorted out. You don't need to send the permissions to me. Whoever checks that email will fix it. Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:51, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've fixed the last grammatical mistakes in the article (or I hope so, but was helped by my English teacher). Could you have a look and remove the 2 (?!) shameful 'cleanup' tag. Thank you
No news about pictures permissions. See you later Qqchose2sucre (talk) 18:18, 5 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
