Experience Hendrix Tour

edit

Hi! I'm the content specialist for your course and I wanted to let you know that I did some light editing on the article you created for the Experience Hendrix Tour. I had a few notes for you.

The first is that you need to be careful about tone. Things like "late and great" can be seen as non-neutral and can be subjective to the reader. While I personally think Hendrix was a musical genius, someone else may not share the same opinion. It can also be seen as a wee bit promotional, since you can sometimes see phrasing like this on press releases or other marketing material. It's easy to use promotional language without realizing it's promotional on here, so don't worry too much - it takes all of us some time to get used to this. When I first began editing I had someone tell me the exact same thing.

The second thing is a bit more important, as it will determine the article's longevity on the site. The article needs sourcing to establish notability, by which I mean sourcing that is independent of the tour, its performers, or anyone affiliated with the tour and performers. Sometimes the easiest way to satisfy this criteria are things like news articles and reviews of the tour. Be cautious, however, as press releases will not count towards notability as they are considered to be WP:PRIMARY sources. Primary sources (anything issued by people or organizations affiliated with the tour) can back up basic details, but cannot show notability regardless of what they say. Also be cautious because while the tour honors a notable person and features performances by notable musicians, this doesn't make the tour automatically notable as notability is not inherited in this situation. It will make it more likely that there will be coverage, though. I recommend finding sourcing as soon as you can, as an article without sourcing can be challenged by another editor and possibly removed. Ideally they should try to find sourcing as well, but sometimes editing and sourcing is a bit like group work. Sometimes you'll work with other people who are unafraid to roll up their sleeves and help out, but sometimes you'll have people who do as little work as possible. In other words, you need to make sure that when you create an article it has notability established.

I do need to caution you, however, that if sourcing cannot be found to show notability then the article would not pass notability guidelines and will almost certainly be deleted. A quick look for sourcing found things like this news article, so I'm not terribly worried that this tour would fail notability guidelines. Let me know if you have any questions! Proposed deletion of Experience Hendrix Tour

edit

The article Experience Hendrix Tour has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable, unsourced concert tour fails both WP:GNG and WP:CONCERT TOUR that has been tagged as being unreferenced for four years.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
