Jackson projects

Please comment here, a debate on the future of WP:MJJ and WP:JANET. — R2 14:28, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Anyway, how are things? What articles are you working on at the moment? — R2 18:51, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm working on "We Are the World" in my sandbox. I'm hoping to get it to FA by the end of this year, so it can become TFA for it's 25th anniversary on March 7, 2010. According to the request page, you have to have it pending 60 days in advance. I have to wait for a book to arrive before I can get started on it properly. Until then, I'll be creating a page for the Thrill the World dance event. Oh, and I've got a peer review open for "The Girl Is Mine". I think it's fairly comprehensive and could be an FA. Pyrrhus16 19:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Awesome. Well I've just started this Wikiproject debate (hopefully it will take us somewhere) and I want to put this in the mainspace within the next day or two. Then I'll begin working on HIStory. I still have a spare ticket to see MJ, know anyone who needs it? — R2 20:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
No, I don't really know anybody that needs one. You should stick it on eBay; you'd definitely make a profit. Pyrrhus16 20:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Might have to, although I would rather avoid that. — R2 20:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I'd say the best way to get rid of it, is to offer it up on one of the MJ forums. I think MJJCommunity is the most high-traffic MJ forum. Pyrrhus16 20:24, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I might just give that a go, cheers. — R2 20:47, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

This is interesting, a list of Jackson's best selling US singles, we could add this to all the articles? — R2 21:41, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah we should. Is it actually his best-selling U.S. singles or their opinion/ranking of the singles? Pyrrhus16 4 June 2009 (UTC)
It looks pretty accurate that it's based on sales of his number one singles. That said, it could be possible that his singles that did not peak at number one still outsold some of these. It's not a definitive top ten list because it only takes into account this 13 #1's, all his other singles weren't considered. So I suppose it's not of much use really. — R2 11:07, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Well they can still be used in the commentary sections. By the way, have you seen the new pics? I think it's time for Prince to get a new mask. He's getting a bit too big to wear pink feathery ones. Pyrrhus16 11:51, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Agree about the mask lol, great to see the curly hair is back, hopefully he will stick with it. Yes, we could still use the commentary. — R2 11:55, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it is nice to see the curls back. There is a 100+ page thread on them in one of the MJ forums lol. The media have started to say that his brothers will be joining him at the O2, cause of this video. Although, I think he said it to shut the reporter guy up. No doubt they'll call him a liar if the brothers don't show up. Pyrrhus16 12:02, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't give a rats ass what TMZ say about anything, nobody takes them seriously, a bunch of idiots. — R2 13:53, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, they're jerks. I don't know how some people can believe the stuff they say sometimes. Pyrrhus16 14:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I just set up Dangerous (Michael Jackson song) and sent it to DYK, crediting both of us. — R2 17:01, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Cheers. :) Pyrrhus16 17:07, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I have been thinking about this for a while, we could probably set up an article for "Allegations of media bias against Michael Jackson". What you think? — R2 18:11, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, I started work on this. Then I realised that it was turning into the media's perception of him, and was going to instead name it "Media perception and coverage of Michael Jackson", making it something similar to Public image of Barack Obama. I think an article like that could work, with their perception of him, some of the stories they've reported on him (like the voodoo one, lol) and allegations of them being biased. Do you think that would work? Pyrrhus16 18:21, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
"Media perception and coverage of Michael Jackson" could potentially work, my concern would be that we don't mock Jackson any further and it could end up too gossipy/tabloidy. We would have to ensure that it stays within the boundaries of WP:BLP and respects the subjects dignity. An article specifically dedicated to allegations of media bias is less likely to have BLP problems, but your suggestion could still work. — R2 18:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think your idea is pretty good. It would give a more rounded take on events, as opposed to just the media's viewpoint of him. Pyrrhus16 18:33, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Well it's something we can start in the future. Before that I really have to get HIStory out the way. :) — R2 18:37, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, those album articles always looks like big projects. Oh, and I forgot to ask: are you going to be requesting any of your FAs (MJ or Thriller) for the main page? Pyrrhus16 18:50, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Unlikely, can't be bothered to deal with the vandalism. — R2 18:52, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I can imagine. They'd be all over it. Pyrrhus16 18:58, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello, I don't think I thanked you for reverting the vandalism on my userpage a few days ago, so thanks! Jozal (talk) 15:23, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem. :) Pyrrhus16 16:43, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

DYK

On June 9, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Dangerous (Michael Jackson song), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
For some reason they didn't send this notice to you too. — R2 13:27, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe it's because I'm not in the revision history of the live article. Cheers. Pyrrhus16 15:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, only the heavy contributors of the mainspace article get the DYK credit. I believe a bot takes a look. Either way, congratulations to both of you! :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 16:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. :) Pyrrhus16 17:41, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Thriller (viral video)

Hi, I am reviewing Thriller (viral video) for GA and have left my initial comments at Talk:Thriller (viral video)/GA1. As you probably noticed, I did a little copy editing of the article, but feel free to change anything I got wrong. It is quite and interesting article and you have done a good job of covering a surprising subject. Overall, I think it can meet GA with a few changes. Please feel free to contact me with questions or comments. Regards, —Mattisse (Talk) 23:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Start collecting links

Hi, I'm starting to archive links for this, feel free to add others if you find them. — R2 12:50, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Will do. Pyrrhus16 12:56, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Sony/ATV Music Publishing

I have conducted an initial review and placed the article on hold whilst some concerns with the prose are dealt with. Comments at Talk:Sony/ATV Music Publishing/GA2. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 19:46, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I think I've responded to all your concerns. Pyrrhus16 19:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Barnstar

  The Content Creativity Barnstar
This Barnstar is most happily awarded to Pyrrhus16 for adding the 50th GA/FA article to The Beatles Project. Pyrrhus16 is now entitled to any drink of his choice, a well-deserved pat on the back, and a hearty chorus of "Yeah, yeah, yeah". Well done, indeed.--andreasegde (talk) 12:28, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Wow. Thanks for the barnstar. Mine's is a Guinness ;) Pyrrhus16 12:36, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of List of artists influenced and inspired by Michael Jackson

I have nominated List of artists influenced and inspired by Michael Jackson, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of artists influenced and inspired by Michael Jackson. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

You best keep all the info in your user space, in case it's deleted, you can use it elsewhere. — R2 19:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
It's in the revision history of my sandbox, so all won't be lost if it's deleted. Pyrrhus16 19:48, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, if it is deleted you can also work this info into a larger topic on Jackson, say his influence on popular culture or something. Don't lose your cool over silly remarks, most of them are Fox News loving red necks probably... — R2 19:55, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Lol, thanks. I like that idea about the larger type article. Pyrrhus16 19:57, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I can see you put a lot of hard work into Jacko subjects, I mean no ill feeling. If you moved it to an article about the Influence of Michael Jackson in popular culture and removed the redundant list and worte a well referenced balanced article in prose which has some encyclopedic content (like the intro) then I would support it. As it is it is not much encyclopedic use reeling off lists of the many many artists who were inspired by him. There are likely thousands of artists worldwide inspired by him from Japan to Argentina. Maybe mention a few of the notable ones in prose in a written article but the list is not the way to go. Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:03, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. If the list is deleted, I'll do just that. :) Pyrrhus16 20:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Billie Jean moonwalk video

I'm transcoded the Billie Jean moonwalk video, but it is far too short. We need a longer original file - can you obtain one? Awadewit (talk) 04:15, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I've replaced the original gif file with an ogg one. (I found a copy of Jackson's performance on YouTube.) Awadewit (talk) 06:11, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Seltaeb

This article might interest you.--andreasegde (talk) 09:16, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Very interesting read. Thanks for pointing it out. :) Pyrrhus16 16:36, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

MJ

My heartiest condolescence to you my friend. Although we haven't interacted that much, I just wanted to say Im so sorry and hope you are keeping well. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your condolences. It's very surreal; can't believe it's happening. I'll definitely try and stay strong, and continue his legacy here on Wikipedia, through the numerous articles relating to him. Pyrrhus16 04:45, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about his death mate, I also think it is very unbelievable. I know he was/is very important to you.Perhaps you could add a new section in his main article about his changing appearance and issues with cosmetic surgery/denial etc. Condolensces. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. There is already an article on his appearance, plastic surgery and health. I think adding another section in the main biography would give it undue weight. As I said before his death, I'm looking forward to creating a large article about his impact on society. Pyrrhus16 14:25, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Pye Records

It's sourced? Where? Rothorpe (talk) 13:36, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Read the whole sentence: "The company was Pye Records and, along with EMI and Decca Records, accounted for the vast majority of music records sold in the UK.[1]" That's what I'm saying. Rothorpe (talk) 13:52, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

repetition on Human Nature page

Is that your only response to someone editing your work? To threaten me with blocking? My action clearly was not vandalism but a legitimate attempt at editing. The heading does not need to contain trivlal information that is also included in a section in the main article. If you dispute this take it to the discussion page or a third party.

Jackson

Per WP:V, could you please look for a source yourself, before adding a tag? There are plenty available. SlimVirgin talk|contribs 19:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Added one. Pyrrhus16 20:04, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks. :) SlimVirgin talk|contribs 20:12, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
No problem. :) Pyrrhus16 20:14, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Retirement

Hey buddy, unfortunately I have decided to retire for Wikipedia. Please continue your hard work and maintain Jackson's legacy at Wikipedia for me. If you could watchlist my GA's and FA's I would appreciate it. — Please comment R2 15:21, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry to see you go. Perhaps you'll reconsider after a short wikibreak? Either way, I'll definitely keep an eye on your GAs and FAs. :) Pyrrhus16 15:25, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Finnish albums chart

I noticed that you had removed some Finnish chart positions that I added for Michael Jackson's albums. [1] is in fact the official Finnish chart, see Wikipedia:Record charts for more information. YuckieDuck (talk) 00:41, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

A Place With No Name

If you would please research the song you would find that there is plenty of notability. Look at the links i have included and listen to the song. It is the first leaked song of the world's most successful recording artist's posthumous career, i think thats notable enough. JDelo93 (talk)

Elvis

At (assumed IP) Iridescent's suggestion you were the person to ask about MJ. Could you look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Michael Jackson#Elviis Presley similarities? Simply south (talk) 11:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Digital Spy

Can you please explain why you removed information about future jackson releases from the article despite it being sourced directly from Digitalspy which has been proven in the past on numerous occassions as a credible source for upcomming events? The site itself interview Amanda Ghost and Will.i.am which confirms rumours from the tabloids and many other interviews that Neyo and Will.i.am gave about MJ's music (struggling to find sources for them). (Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:12, 27 July 2009 (UTC))

It's unreliable. See here. Pyrrhus16 10:40, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Hickory Rec under Sony/ATV

Since I know you've worked hard on Sony/ATV, please see the small change I made- Sony/ATV Music Publishing#Hickory Records. Is my interpretation accurate? Imperatore (talk) 02:21, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

File:Bubbles the chimpanzee.jpg

I would personally disagree. We only need a non-free image of Bubbles- we have free images of Jackson. I would personally support including a free image of Jackson, but for the infobox image, we need only Bubbles. J Milburn (talk) 22:33, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
