January 2021 edit

  Hello, I'm Shift674. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you!

  • This template in a nutshell: You need to provide a reliable source to back up your information.

Conflict of interest editing edit

  Hello, Puddlejumper2million. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page George Pedersen, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:55, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Puddlejumper2million. I'm adding the above template for reference after seeing your Wikipedia Teahouse question here. Please understand that this isn't to accuse of doing anything wrong per se, but rather to just let know about some of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines related to conflict of interest editing, which applies to your particular situation. The best way for you to try and help improve the article would be to follow the suggestions given here and here. If you have suggestions on ways to improve the article, it would be better for you to post them at Talk:George Pedersen in the form of edit requests; rhis will give other editors unconnected to the subject matter a chance to review them and assess them in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines such as Wikipedia:Verifiability. I'm sure you know lots of things about your grandfather, but Wikipedia needs to be able to verify such information regardless of whether it's true. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:08, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
