Great white shark pictures edit

Great pictures!!! We are really lacking high quality (shark) pictures, I hope you contribute a few more! Whiteshark-TGoss1.jpg is great, something is broken with Whiteshark-TGoss5.jpg, try to upload again, and looking at your fliker page you have many more that would be a great addition to wikipedia, after a very short glance my good side is a favourite!!!!! But all of them are very good!!! Please please upload a few more:-) Anyway, thanks a lot! Stefan 01:12, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I seriously think you should submit one of you great white shark pictures for featured picture! they are very good, very sharp and very nice!!!! Stefan 08:31, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I second that - I've already added one as the selected picture on Portal:Sharks, hope you don't mind. You might also consider uploading them to Wikimedia Commons, I'm sure the other wikipedia's would like to share the wealth (or we could just leave them stuck with the blurry half head shot and laugh at them). Cheers, Yomanganitalk 16:08, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

It works exactly the same as uploading a picture here (you have to sign up for a new account there though) - the only difference is that the other language Wikipedias can access the images too. When you release the rights on the pictures under GDFL it's always better to upload the image there (otherwise somebody will probably eventually move them over anyway). Accessing the images is transparent - you still use the [Image:... tag. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 22:41, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

Hi!

To be on main page?

Nice to see you back, your shark pictures is very good and really needed, thanks for the bull shark!! If you would like to have your Image:Whiteshark-TGoss5.jpg the MAIN page of wikipedia for one day I suggest that you read Wikipedia:Featured_picture_criteria, basically I think your picture qualify for all criterias execpt the size, i.e. upload a version of TGoss5 which is larger than 1000px and I will nominate it for featured picture and I think it would qualify and then I will try to make it be shown on the main page. This of course goes for all pictures uploaded to wikipedia, the higher the resolution the better, the purpose of wikipedia is not only to be a online media, it is supposed to be printed also and then the higher resolution is needed. Thanks a lot for all the greate pictures, do you have any more, especially sharks? See some example of missing pictures blue shark, Great_hammerhead, Porbeagle, Scalloped_hammerhead and many many more. Stefan 13:31, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I've beaten you to it, Stefan: Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Image:Whiteshark-TGoss5b.jpg Yomanganitalk 23:11, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you want to replace the one on Commons, just upload it with the same filename as the original and then just click "save anyway" (or whatever the wording is) when it prompts you. I think that is permissible if as the creator you deem the image to be a better version.Yomanganitalk 23:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Pterantula, thanks! Lets hope it passes the nomination (not that I can see any reson for it not to). Stefan 23:29, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I tried to upload the GWS to commons, but my commons account is to new, you are not allowed to overwrite images with a new account, will try again when my account is a few more days. Stefan 14:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I was the one who uploaded it. ;) Ah, I can't take the credit for the awesome shot... :) Pterantula, how about making yourself a nice user page? And congratulations! Althepal 02:19, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
      • And thank you for doing so - I have so little patience for the aftermath of my work, I just want to get out there and shoot more! (and then I'd be stuck with the aftermath again, but oh well....) I'll try to get around to doing a user page soon, but I'm also struggling to get to work on the rest of the pics. Thanks again for all your efforts with the images, and thanks to everyone else who aided and abetted my new FP status. Cheers! Pterantula 00:40, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
        • Yes, photography is fun, and post processing can take time! :) Althepal 00:56, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

removing image edit

I'd like to remove an image I created and uploaded to Wikipedia; basically, I'm preparing it for commercial publication and I want to rescind the free-use license and the image itself. I own it, and I want to remove it.

The file is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Scarface-tigershark2.jpg

Thx for any assistance. Pterantula 05:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've tagged the image for deletion at your request. See Image:Scarface-tigershark2.jpg. It should be deleted shortly. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to leave them on my talk page. - Rjd0060 05:37, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Scarface-tigershark2.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Scarface-tigershark2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Scarface-tigershark2.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. RE: Tiger Shark pic not yet deleted?... edit

I see what happened here. The image was deleted from Wikipedia, but added to Wikimedia Commons. Things get a bit tricky here. Please read this. It suggests that you have to list the image as a Deletion Request, which you can do at Commons:Deletion requests. Unfortunately, I am not active on Commons, so won't be able to help as much on that end. - Rjd0060 (talk) 04:42, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Niacin (band) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Niacin (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Dianakc (talk) 18:31, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Niacin (band) edit

The article Niacin (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Could only find passing mentions

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Niacin (band) for deletion edit
