Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:3XMM J004232.1+411314, from its old location at User:Psyluke/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 17:59, 21 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of V Andromedae

edit

Hello Psyluke,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged V Andromedae for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Lithopsian (talk) 18:40, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Lithopsian: I didn't know the article has been already deleted. I won't contest this decision. But I just have one simple question: how can I avoid the same mistake in the future? Psyluke (talk) 19:06, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Depending how you create the article, you may be warned that you are recreating a previously-deleted title. Otherwise you should be warned when you go to create the talk page. Try going to Talk:V Andromedae and seeing what happens. That isn't an outright ban on recreating the page (unless it was salted), but it is a strong hint. At the very least you would then go and read the discussion to make sure you address concerns when recreating. In general, for stars, the templates (eg. Template:Stars of Andromeda) are a good guide to which stars are likely to be notable, and anything not there would usually need significant recent coverage to become notable. Of course, WP:NASTCRIT has four simple checks to see if an astronomical object is notable. Lithopsian (talk) 19:39, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Non-notable stars

edit

I had a look at several stars that you recently tagged as potentially not notable. A couple of them I found just enough info to maybe keep them. The others should probably be proposed for deletion. Just tagging them isn't likely to go anywhere. You could even put them all in one proposal - don't know if that will make things easier or end up in a convoluted discussion. Hard to imagine anyone is emotionally invested in those particular stars though, which is usually the sticking point. Lithopsian (talk) 11:46, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Lithopsian: I didn't want to be too hasty, but if you think they should be deleted, I can start a proposal. Just tell me which I should spare, so you can add the additional info you found. Psyluke (talk) 13:06, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
I've de-tagged and updated any that I think are worth saving. So if it is still tagged then it should probably be deleted. If not then I'm sure it will come out in discussion. Lithopsian (talk) 15:28, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Psyluke: I have removed the prod tags you placed on RU Andromedae, RY Andromedae, and ST Andromedae because they have previously been discussed at WP:AFD and therefore can't be deleted via prod. I only did this for procedural reasons and would not object to you nominating these articles at AfD again. —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:41, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
That might be my fault. I did say "proposed for deletion", although I was thinking about AfD. On the talk page for an article, you can (usually) see if it has been through a previous PROD or AfD. PROD is for (assumed) uncontroversial deletions. AfD is a week-long, at least, discussion. Can't use PROD if AfD has been tried, clearly not uncontroversial. Could still be worth trying AfD again, the arguments to keep previously were fairly weak and IMO wrong, but were not opposed. Lithopsian (talk) 19:29, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Kuyabribri: Sorry, I could avoid this error if I read better the PROD page. I will submit later the three articles to the AFD page. Psyluke (talk) 12:28, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
