Me again. I know you are starting to think that I'm being a nuisance. I'm very sorry for that. I found some sources for Takako Matsu's videos. But I couldn't find sources for some others. The DVD listed here has the videos needing directors. I don't have the DVD with me, do you know anyone who can help? I am surprised to see that the song has got very few reviews. Japan's such a huge industry when it comes to music and yet there's no review!? You'd have to go back to music magazines in 1998 to find any. If the song was liked you'll find a lot of glowing reviews, but if nobody liked it then they'll just ignore it entirely and not write any reviews on it. It's a cultural thing, like how if someone's overweight or has a lazy eye in the UK, people might not say anything, but they would in Korea. It's part what you said, how it can be rude to give people bad reviews, but it's also using silence as a weapon. 1. It debuted at #15 with 35,640 sales. It spent 9 weeks in the top 20 (15, 14, 10, 13, 8, 12, 10, 13, 15). Week 7 had the highest sales, with 60,030. Yearly it was #75 with 428,170 copies sold, and 431,540 copies in total. Because it was 1997-1998, they only had a top 100 then.
2. Dunno! I've never really dealt with awardsy things, other than Space Shower/MTV ones, and I don't think they existed then.
3. It does give the date as 1997/03/21, so it implies that it's the original. If it was the 2007 version it'd have the date for the 2007 album release (since the database is definitely older than 2007 I'm pretty sure it's being accurate).
4. "The electro intro and warped guitar make this an impressive pop song." plus a description about how the song is about two girls in a car. Second one is "The first song I wrote lyrics to. I gave it a theme of three girls driving, but whatever way you look at it, it seems like two, doesn't it!" Third: AHgK was a song where Matsu was searching for what kind of song was hers. Sakamoto Yuji wrote the lyrics, remembering his teenage years (but I dunno if that's a fact, or the reviewer just saying that Sakamoto is old (there's no direct proof). Actually, there's no proof for the first one either, it could just be an assertion [in a way, every debut song is like that, I suppose]). The rest is basically fluff.

Hmm...it's a mystery!

Looking at the artists you like, you could do up Feel (Namie Amuro album) look like Uncontrolled (album) and Checkmate! (Namie Amuro album), if you want! That charts section is looking awful, and Contrail is dying for an article too, since it did so well. I've also been planning on doing up the Ayumi discography in the style of the Koda one (look at it beforehand! lol), but it's so long and complicated. Plus there'd be so many angry people if I changed things around.

I also want to bury any of the non-standard chart boxes you tend to get on Japanese pages, with the big box of monthly/daily positions and no figures at all. Well, a rather OT topic: is Oricon's popularity on the decline? I can see that the album/single sales are too low. Most albums sell barely 100K copies on its first week (there are exceptions). I tend to prefer just giving them sources and making them notable, since they probably are, just the editors were awful. Feel free to do whatever, though! If a single/album is awful enough I'll skip the deletion process and just redirect.

Just like every other music market! It's still the most prestigious of the charts, but it's clunky and old, and super '80s. Digital's also gone down lately in Japan, sadly! Just look at the big drop in RIAJ certs between November 2013 and November 2009. Billboard's a step in the right way, but they need to take account of rentals (a super big chunk of the market), and probably social impressions like Billboard US from Niconico/Youtube. By definition no, since it has to be under a free licence or a share-a-like licence where everyone who uses the photo in the future has to make the thing they made free. They wouldn't be making any money! Your best bet is flickr, or if one day there's a special overseas Frozen event she's invited to. Are you sure? '"明日、春が来たら" "all night nippon" 福山雅治 1998' comes up with a single google hit. The archive for allnightnippon.com only goes back to 1999, so I'm not sure if I can help you there!

RIAJ had a monthly ringtone chart then. From 2006 until early 2009, the only thing of hers to chart was Minna Hitori.

Musical debut: At the wrap-up party for Long Vacation, she happened to sing karaoke. The director [she didn't say but maybe Chihiro Kameya? I'm not sure] heard her, and asked, "why don't you give singing a go?" First she refused, as she wasn't very confident as a singer. Eventually she accepted because she saw that this wasn't a chance many people got.

97-07: It was hard getting all of the 素材 (demos and mixing files and stuff) sent from her Los Angeles recordings for the song, but they managed to. She said something about Yuji Sakamoto rewriting bits of the lyrics to reflect the changes they'd both made in the past 10 years, but I haven't listened to the 97-07 version fully (you'd have to double-check if the lyrics are actually different)

デビューのきっかけは最初に出た連続ドラマ「ロングバケーション」と言う作品の打ち上げでカラオケを歌う（まあ、何人か）、その時のディレクターが「歌わない？」みたい。非常に！なんか信用できない感じの軽さで。声掛けられて、もちろんそう言われると警戒しますよね。「大丈夫かな？」と思いました、でも歌すごい好きだったんですね、本当に。歌うことも好きだった。どんな風に曲が完成レコーディングしていこんだろうとか。でも最初は断ったんですね。あの、「ヤ」、「いやです」って言うか「いいです」って言うか「私はいいです」って。やっぱその先中途半端にしてしまった。これ以上ピアノに加えて中途半端にしてしまった。今度仕事だしだと思って。

なんですけど、デビュー当時の｛｛｝｝に会った時に、ま、本当に｛｛｝｝にやったらよさそうだから「やらない？」って言うような誘ってくれたんですね。それが大きかったですかね。で「こういうチャンスはまあ、なかなかない、誰もが与えられる物ではないし、じゃ挑戦してみよう」。だから本当に、歌を出すと言うことよりも音楽をやると言うか…音楽に関わるぞって言う覚悟って言うか…なんかそ言う気持ちで。

I can't quite hear the {{}} bits, and then it starts to show the LA filming, she's talking about getting letters from her staff congratulating her on her 10 year debut, and she's all OMG it's been 10 years-kinda things, so nothing particularly useful. There's nothing really more than what I said already, everyone was singing at the 'we finished yay!' party for Long Vacation, and everyone was singing karaoke. The director for LV said, "Oh, why don't you give singing a go?" but she felt a bit taken back, since she didn't know if he was being serious or just saying it. At first, she said she wouldn't. She decided she would when she considered that it wasn't an offer that just anyone gets, so she'd give it a go.

I think there might actually be a couple of important details in the デビュー当時の｛｛｝｝に会った時に、ま、本当に｛｛｝｝にやったらよさそうだから「やらない？」 bit, so maybe ask a native speaker if you know any! I removed Namie Amuro World (I have no idea what it is about, same goes for DJ Groove too), "Black Out" PV (the Checkmate article says it's unaired, but I did find it on JpopSukiTV; the director of the PV is some Division.. a Paris team of directors) and also the section on alternative live versions of the PV. And oh, I couldn't find sources for "Stop the Music" and "Taiyo no Season". Please check the section (videos) and tell me if it's okay or not, if I'm missing something et cetera. Edit: I think "Santa Maria" is very well-written. I couldn't find anything on its structure though, there's no sheet music available. Did he perform the song later, live? Namie's discography

Hey, I just wanted to ask about the updates to the discography page, wouldn't it be better if the first day/week sales were available, so that people can see how a single started off, and in some cases compare it to other singles? I ask because I always used to do this using the wikipedia page and thought maybe other people also did it, also I noticed that this was used on other pages like AKB48 and Morning Musume, so I thought it was normal. Well the daily figures were unsourced anyway, and I don't think there's any possible source for a lot of them! The data are quite trivial, especially when you think about comparing them to other countries' weekly charts. Oricon doesn't collate its daily, monthly or yearly (under the top 100) figures on its subscription website, so we can't use a general Oricon database subscription either.

Listened to the samples on iTunes.. It's a dance album, but not all the songs are good. The thing that really irritates me is her broken voice. What once used to be sweet and pleasant is now too hoarse (?). "What Is Forever Love" sounds okay and so does "Pray" (the production is outdated, kinda. Don't you think?). Ukiyo-e

Hey, sorry it took me a long time to get around to updating the ukiyo-e article with the stuff from Suwa's book. Aside from getting caught up with other things, I was having trouble wrapping my head around some of the stuff, in particular about Chinese perspective. At first I assumed 平行遠近法 meant isometric perspective, but when I looked into it, it appeared there was more to it than that. I've learned some interesting things about Chinese perspective, but I'm not sure I've expressed it well in the ukiyo-e article. I've also added stuff about what I've decided to translate as "serpentine posture". Would you mind taking a peek at what I've added and give me some feedback? Actually, this is the thing I had to hunt around to confirm, because I couldn't find a translation of 平行遠近法 as "isometric perspective" anywhere. It appears that Chinese paintings weren't strictly isometric, but were isometric for individual objects (buildings, tables, etc) in the composition. So an individual building in a city scene would have its lines parallel to each within the building, but other buildings would have their own sets of parallel lines. This appears to be what 平行遠近法 refers to. Here's a pdf that talks about it. It would be nice if there were a Wikipedia article on this kind of thing—maybe someday I'll even make one. Well, it would apply to any content—when I was talking about buildings in a city I didn't have in mind the examples at the end of the PDF. But, yes, I believe 平行遠近法 refers to the kind of thing happening in "Han Xi-zai Gives a Banquet" (thus "a homogeny of parallel lines"—I don't know how else to phrase it without turning it into a paragraph-long lecture—a bit out of scope for the article). FLC and GAN are completely different actually. A single user reviews a GAN whereas multiple users comment on an FLC. Also, you can nominate as much articles as you want for a GA, as long as they meet the criteria. It's not as strict as FLC too, btw :) Also, "AshitaHaru" has not yet been reviewed. Hi, Prosperosity. Sorry for bothering you, but I saw your conversations with Ryoga Godai, and wanted to ask you a little favor. I'm having trouble to get a proper romanization for Akagi ep 12 "偶機の魔法"; I know it is "... no Mahō", and that the possible meaning of it is "Coincidence" (as Crunchyroll translated it as "The Magic of Coincidence"). I'd have to go with Gūki no Mahō. It sounds like some sort of truncation of gūzen (偶然) and kikai/ki'un (機会/機運), but the 機 could mean something mechanical depending on the context. I've never seen Akagi, so I'm not sure! Gūki would be the standard on-yomi reading, and nobody on the internet seems to list anything but 'gūki', so I'm almost certain it's that! --Prosperosity (talk) 05:28, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Oh, and you might wanna double-check 裏切りの絶一門. Sometimes mah-jong players in Japan call the terms by their approximated Chinese names (so 絶一門 (jué yīmén) on the JA wiki is rendered tsēīmen and chēīmen in katakana). Takebe doesn't say anything interesting, just a 'thank you Michiko from Miyagi' kind of response, where he says he wants to record with Matsu again soon and they'll release something in September 1999 probably. って言う means a lot of things, depending on the context, but it usually means "~that kind of thing" (like....say..."「宮城県のミチコ、ありがとうね」って言うような答え" [a 'thank you Michiko from Miyagi'-kind of response]). ってゆう is a funky colloquial way of saying it! --Prosperosity (talk) 11:55, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
