Re: Battle of Vukovar FAC edit

I'm generally okay with the idea, though I'm not done proofreading it myself, either. I was certainly planning to keep an eye on the FAC comments in any case, so feel free to list me. In fact I'm pretty sure you could recruit any of the other four involved .hr editors for it, I'm sure they'd all appreciate the prestige :) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:03, 15 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

BTW, can you set up an e-mail address for me to be able to contact you that way, please? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 22:10, 15 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK, done, and thanks. I think it might be a bit over the top to list five editors as co-sponsors though! Prioryman (talk) 23:32, 15 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
BTW did you get my mail? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 18:59, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

FAC's been closed now, but reviewing my comments I realize that I accidentally wrote "publishers" when I meant "publisher locations" - you're right, all of the books included publishers. Sorry for the confusion. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:30, 19 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Of course. :) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 20:12, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for implying that you thought nefarious forces against your review requests. I need to remember that a humorously intended statement is hard to convey in a text-only environment. [self-applies small trout]. -- saberwyn 00:03, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Prioryman, you nominated Suckers (band) for deletion under "G2: Test page". At the time, it was mis-formatted because a newbie was still working on it. Please be a little more cautious in these situations. Thanks! Melchoir (talk) 19:03, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Battle of Vukovar ACR edit

Hi! I noticed that the last FAC brought up matter of British vs American spelling inconsistencies in the article as an obstacle. I'm willing to tackle those myself, but I'd like to check first with you would you prefer to end up with BE or AE spelling in the end - I noticed the British English tag in the talk page, but just to be on the safe side...--Tomobe03 (talk) 21:49, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for patrolling new pages. I'm just letting you know that I have declined your CSD A7 on Roshini Shetty because there is enough information on the page to suggest that the subject may be notable. I have placed a WP:BLPPROD template on the article instead. For more information please see WP:NPP and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Mr Davenport edit

Please do not remove the citation requests unless you are adding references that resolve them. Thanks. Fmph (talk) 19:09, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was because of your unsupported assertions on the talk page that I marked the points in your additions which were not supported by the references you added. Some seem to know have been addressed although not very well. Nowhere does it say that the property was valued (a positive action that implies a professional viewing the property and making an informed judgement) @ £50mil. But we will let that one go. Now all we need are the details of the introduction. Fmph (talk) 21:18, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cyrus Cylinder edit

Hello Prioryman, First off, let me thank you for some of the fine work that you’ve done on making the Cyrus Cylinder page (particularly in your retitles, on the history of its discovery, the dispute between IRI and the British Museum [aside: boy, the Brits do indeed like to take things from other lands and put them in their museums!], as well as the Exhibition in Iran update).

I am concerned, however, that your edits on 08:29, 2011 November 5‎ Prioryman (talk | contribs)‎ (89,345 bytes), are not quite what I consider useful. In particular, what seems to be opinionated viewpoints. Example: “However, the Cylinder's account of Cyrus's conquest clearly does not tell the whole story. Although the Persians do seem to have entered Babylon without serious resistance, the text does not mention the preceding Battle of Opis, in which Cyrus's forces defeated and apparently massacred Nabonidus's army.”

1) It reads far too much as if there was subterfuge afoot in the creation of the Cylinder as if the Cylinder was create to mislead. 2) There is no evidence that Cyrus’s army ever MASSACARED Nabodinus’s army. In fact, the historical evidence is that Cyrus was benign by ancient and modern standards in terms of the invasion. 3) The three historians being cited are opining (however educated their opinions may be), not definitively stating, that the cylinder did not tell the whole story.

To tell you the truth, I think that the whole section on the analysis of the cylinder’s claim is really not useful and subject to biases in terms of what analyses are included. There are very little articles on wikipedia referencing proclamations and announcement (declarations of independence, the magna carta, etc) that analyze the claims of those proclamations. Perhaps it might be better to remove the section altogether.

This being said, I am going to make some revisions addressing my concerns. Best, GoetheFromm (talk) 07:37, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Main page appearance: Battle of Vukovar edit

This is a note to let the main editors of Battle of Vukovar know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on November 18, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 18, 2011. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

The Battle of Vukovar was an 87-day siege of the Croatian town of Vukovar by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and paramilitaries from Serbia, between August–November 1991. In 1990, Croatian Serb separatists launched an armed uprising, supported by Serbian President Slobodan Milošević, and seized control of Serb-populated areas of Croatia. The JNA intervened in favour of the Croatian Serbs and launched an offensive in August 1991 against Croatian government-held territory. Vukovar was defended by around 1,800 lightly armed Croatian soldiers and civilian volunteers, against 36,000 JNA soldiers and Serbian paramilitaries equipped with heavy armour and artillery. When the town fell on 18 November 1991 after prolonged fighting, hundreds were massacred by Serb forces and the town's non-Serb population was expelled. Vukovar was peacefully reintegrated into Croatia in 1998 after the end of the Croatian War of Independence and has since been rebuilt, but deep ethnic divisions remain. Several Serb military and political officials, including Milošević, were later indicted and in some cases jailed for war crimes committed during and after the battle. (more...)

Questions to Arbs edit

I have sent you the other day an email with quack quack evidence. Can you please firstly confirm that you have received it.

Additionally, as I mentioned at User_talk:Russavia#Your_query I have asked individual arbs who are running for re-election to the Committee specific questions in relation to the Clarification request that they have so far basically ignored in providing straight answers for. You will find the questions, and their answers, on the individual candidacy pages.

I don't think it is fair only to subject those Arbs seeking re-election to such questions, and am thinking of asking individual arbs the same questions on their talk pages, to see if they will answer them, and I will make a note of their responses (or lack thereof) at their future candicacy.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up in case you want to check out the questions and their answers in relation to this case. Russavia Let's dialogue 14:57, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
