Removal of prod templates on The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer

Unlike speedy deletion templates, proposed deletion templates can be removed by any editor. The thinking is that 'no one' would object to a proposed deletion, by removing the template they are demonstrating that 'someone' does object. It's good form to state the reason for the prod removal in the edit summary, but this does not always happen.   pablohablo. 14:32, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh. I did not know that. Thank you! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 15:05, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Neither did I, once, until someone told me! The page is now deleted under speedy category G4, as a recreation of a previously deleted page.   pablohablo. 20:02, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
It might just be worth pointing out that the proposed BLP-prod template for newly created unreferenced BLPs may well be "sticky" in some sense: most likely, no one will be allowed to remove the tag unless sources are added to the article. The whole thing is still in development: Wikipedia talk:Sticky Prod workshop‎‎. Be warned, though, that it is not easy to follow the discussion on that page! Basically, it followed on from the massive RfC on unreferenced BLPs, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people (that is phase 2, BTW!) --Jubileeclipman 23:30, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Are you trying to confuse me?!? I've mostly ignored the whole BLP hassle - too long. Anyway, the only reason I got this wrong was because I assumed it was the same as CSD. Oh well. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:10, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah... tl;dr... However, the new BLP-PROD is all but up and running, now, so make sure every article you create on a living person is well sourced from now on or it might vanish! --Jubileeclipman 23:05, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll remember that, but I'm already a perfectionist, so I doubt that'll be a problem! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:15, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Hope that fits over the tiara? --Jubileeclipman 01:30, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I think I could manage that! I'm trying to break myself of perfectionism (particularly since it inhibits WP:BOLD). I actually discussed this with Airplaneman somewhere in that mess up there - I'm more perfectionist/timid here than I am IRL. Which is probably unusual. Oh, and congrats! You're almost to 10,000 edits! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:08, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

10,000 edits does not necessarily equate to 10,000 good edits...! I saw the discussion about your persona here vs you in RL. You are not unique: my guess is that the exact opposite applies to me! In fact, no one is the same online as in RL, IMO. Anyhoo... 3.30am here! Need sleep... must go to bed... --Jubileeclipman 02:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Yikes! You do need to go to bed. About edits, knowing you (well, sort of!), they're were probably mostly good! I know it's not strange to be different online, I just guessed that being more timid was unique. Maybe not! Anyway, after tonight I'm going to try to stay off mostly. I might drop by to check my watchlist, but maybe not for a few days. It would probably be better if I just got myself used to the whole wikibreak idea. We'll see. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:32, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Just testing... did you get this?   Now sleep... --Jubileeclipman 02:39, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but I'm going to bed now too. I'm not going to log in tomorrow, not going to log in... - PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:57, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Aw man, you logged in :D Airplaneman 01:18, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I have an excuse! It was 1 April and I wanted to see the main page. Then, when I was reading through the FA talk page, my dad saw the post about peanuts over my shoulder and suggested I comment. So there's the excuse. I don't have an excuse for why I'm logged in today. Still, the general idea is working - my time here has dropped and I'm actually getting something done IRL. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 17:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Belated "April Fool!" (Though it doesn't count now...) --Jubileeclipman 03:11, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
I couldn't resist logging in on April 1st either... way too funny! Well, at least my edit count has dropped too, so I'm technically on break. Back in about 3 days! Brambleclawx 14:07, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

The 39 Clues Task Force

--mono 02:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the invite, but I haven't read any of the books! It just so happens that I have read other books by several of the same authors. I will, however, be glad to copyedit and vandalism patrol for you when I'm back from my (semi) wikibreak. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:56, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good! (They need a ton of work)--mono 15:14, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey and Haddix (and probably a lot more besides: WTS)

Hey, see that you are taking a wiki-break, but I remembered that you helped me copyedit a couple times in the past. Could you take a look at Quicksilver (novel) if you get a chance? Going through FA review, and one of the reviewers suggested a new set of eyes.Sadads (talk) 15:21, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, I am on wikibreak, but I'll try to sit down and read through in the next day or two. I'll warn you though, I'm not an "expert eye" that Maria mentioned needing. Still, I'll be glad to help! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 17:54, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Great!!! I mostly want proof that more eyes are looking at it and fixing problems during the review, that way other reviewers are not turned off as well by the same issue. Thank you so much for your help. Sadads (talk) 18:29, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I did some tonight - will continue to work as I have time. Still, from looking at the FA review, I'm not sure it's going to pass this time. And I'm definitely not an FA experienced copy-editor! It does look like User:SMcCandlish did lots of very good work, which may help you. Best of luck with this! It is a very good article and you've obviously done lots of work on it. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:08, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
I know it might not pass (right now that doesn't look so good), but I want to push past as many of the objections as I can in the next couple of days. Besides only 2 reviewers have looked at it thus far.Sadads (talk) 01:20, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Very true. The experience is also probably good. I've never actually done a lot with FA's, so I'll probably read over the criteria before doing more work. And I work better doing small copyedits and then coming back, so I'll just pop in from time to time. I'll also watch the FA review page and may address any more concerns raised there. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
I hate to sound rude or something... but "FA's" is not possessive (it's plural) and therefore doesn't need an apostrophe ;). Couldn't think of another way to say it :/. I'll try to look at it as well, although I am not an expert eye, either. Airplaneman 01:53, 7 April 2010 (UTC)You learn something new every day :). Hope this didn't come across the wrong way, Airplaneman 03:20, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, you can use 's after letters and numbers (at least in BrE), especially if there is likely to be confusion: "dot your ts and cross your is"... :P Anyway, on a completely unrelated note (as usual (but related to the post immediately above)), I have sourced and expanded Margaret Peterson Haddix, one of the articles I was asked to watch. Any good? A lot more to be said on her, without a doubt. Cheers --Jubileeclipman 02:22, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
(The apostrophe-s can be added after initialisms, also, BTW --Jubileeclipman 02:31, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
There are my trusty TPS'ers! I do use apostrophes when making letters plural (instead of FAs), which I believe is acceptable. @Jubileeclipman - I saw that, but was trying to stay away - obviously it's not working! When I actually read through the article, it does need work. I've never really content edited it a lot, just reverted vandalism and worked on articles about her books. Thanks for the improvements! I'll put it on my list of things to do when I have time. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:52, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Haddix's article is looking better! I'll drop by and do a bit of work sometime soon. Airplaneman 03:21, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Is that Haddix's article or Haddix' article? :P Anyway, no problem. If I get time (...WT:MOS, specifically the music MOSes (or MOS's, perhaps)...) I will also try to expand the Haddix (or "Naddix" as I called her at one point) article. She certainly deserves more than a tiny article that just rises above stub status, IMO, if the shear number of RS's is anything to go by --Jubileeclipman 07:32, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Airplaneman, no offense taken! I understood what you were saying. It looks like the GA competition is going to be over before I get a chance to do anything...oh well. Next time. And now I feel bad that I haven't worked more on the Haddix article! I'm so glad it's getting improved. I'm also failing miserably at my wikibreak! Curiosity, what is "wts"? (do I want to know? ) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 21:59, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
"Watch this space" i.e. for more to come... BTW (!), I am the opposite: I am presently supposed to be auditing all of the Music Manuals of Style but the task is somewhat complex and frustating so I keep getting drawn to the lighter side of WP for hours on end rather than actually auditing the pages (WP:MOSMUSIC and WP:MUSTARD)... --Jubileeclipman 22:13, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation...I've picked up a lot of the abbreviations, but I'm not into Internet chatting or texting, so there are a lot that still throw me. Looks like you've been busy! I have found that some amusement makes me less willing to work on boring/hard stuff. On a totally different note, I found a discussion that scares me a bit: User talk: TheClerksWell. Granted, there's a lot more to it, but he's in trouble for editing other people's comments. Now, just to check, do you guys mind if I copyedit your comments on occasion? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 17:28, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
That particular user goes too far at times: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User:TheClerksWell.27s_inappropriate_.22prank.22. Regarding his edits to other people's comments, it appears that he changed the sense of those comments. That, too, is inappropriate and, indeed, disruptive and scandalous as it makes it appear that editors actually said something they naver actually said. I have deliberately changed one word in your last comment, for example. The change might not be obvious, so you may need to look at the history... Feel free to change it back, of course! That said, the changes we make here are usually either copy-edits (quite acceptable, IMO, as long as you tell the editor that made the post) or tongue-in-cheek edits to the title (usually obvious; often, these also help to clarify that the thread moves away from the original topic). Long and short: go ahead but let me know! --Jubileeclipman 18:10, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I did notice your change upon reading through my comment. And yes, I did see the AN/I post, which is what led me to his talk. I did think his edits were extreme, especially to a user he doesn't know. I feel comfortable fixing spelling mistakes here because I know you guys don't mind (I think we've all done it here at one time or another.) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 18:16, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
The talk page guidelines are there (if you haven't seen it yet). Jigglyfidders, an adoptee of mine, has been getting into some disruptive editing and does not seem to stop, even though he said he would. Eek! PrincessofLlyr, I think you're more on a semi-wikibreak, TBH... :) I think I need one, too. Airplaneman 01:19, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmm. I think I'll be more careful about editing comments, even here. I don't ever do it anywhere else, or with anyone but you three, but maybe I'll back off on that too. Yes, I've been watching the whole saga of Jigglyfidders (strange username!). I found his comment about being new and that being the reason for the warnings particularly amusing. I was never warned as a new user. And the whole thing about angry admins...he sounds like a trouble user. How is it you get the difficult adoptees?   I've never been interested in adoption before because I thought I was too inexperienced, but I think I understand most of the major policies now, so do you guys think I would make a good adopter? Answer honestly. If you think I'm not ready, I want to know. I don't want to get into this and mess things up for some new user. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:56, 10 April 2010 (UTC) Add: Jubilee, how are you on wikibreak and still status online? Anything we should watch?
Forgot that, thanks! I am gone now too... back Weds/Thurs. Going to see my dad in Scotland. See (virtually) you all soon --Jubileeclipman 02:02, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Add - No more strange than Jubileeclipman... (Which means nothing, BTW. Just random.) --Jubileeclipman 02:05, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Further - Yes you'd be good as an adopter: patient, kind and understanding - just what the newbies need. I really am gone now... (And am actully "offline", in fact, even though I am actually "online" just to confuse you all more. Offline.... now.) --Jubileeclipman 02:10, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

@PrincessofLlyr: especially the first part of the name... and yes, you would make a good adopter, as Jubileeclipman said. You learn, too! I don't know half the questions my adoptees ask, but since I know this place a bit better, it's easier for me to find the answers. You're the second person who has commented on my troublesome adoptees. I've decided to stop taking them for now - too much going on IRL and additional stress here isn't needed. Just today in school I heard my friend joking about vandalizing Wikipedia, and I quote, "Hey, dude, this was so funny. I went on Wikipedia to look up my topic [for a research project] and, yea, it was so funny. I changed this word to c*** and then I got this orange message thingy that said I had violated this rule and that rule..." and "Hey, you know I once looked up Alcestis (play) and it said (whatever, can't remember) so and so. I told this guy about it." As you can see, most just blow it off. *sigh* I guess that's what blocks are for. Airplaneman 04:19, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm back!!! (And now equipped with 25GB). Now that you know a Wikipedia vandal IRL, you get a few more points on the Wikipediholicism test! Have fun, Jubileeclipman, and hope you all return soon! Brambleclawx 17:49, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Stupid vandals! I don't know any IRL. Actually, I don't know any Wikipedians either. I'm paying attention now to find out if any of my acquaintances might edit, but so far no one. The cat is back! I was beginning to wonder...nice to see you didn't disappear on us. I'm thinking I'm just going to continue with the whole semi-wikibreak thing until summer. I don't see it slowing down until then. It's working though - I aced a test the other day! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 18:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Taking time off is great! I finished homework tons faster. Nice link. I liked that song. I got someone I knew to become a Wikipedian (though they're no longer active), but ti turned out, that that person's dad was a Wikipedian too.   Brambleclawx 18:32, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Glad to hear you're back, Brambleclawx! Airplaneman 23:59, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Wildbot's been finding lots of link problems in our character articles... Brambleclawx 19:20, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I saw that...I was working on it some. I'll try to help fix them when I can. I'm so glad you're back! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 20:53, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I've been trying to clan up those links too, ever since the list split... Maybe i'm too slow? Brambleclawx 00:56, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't know, but there sure are a lot of them! On a similar but unrelated note, what do you guys (Airplaneman especially) think about the addition of "Flaw in the books" sections to the PJTF articles? I'm not the one that added them and I don't really think it's necessary. PrincessofLlyr (talk) 01:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Blatant OR, delete on sight (IMO)... Airplaneman 03:38, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

That's what I thought. I removed one them, but hadn't got around to the rest of them. On a totally unrelated note, what can you tell me about customizing a signature? I don't really want anything complicated (probably just font, and maybe color), but the one time I messed with mine it was a disaster! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 23:14, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

See WP:CUSTOMSIG :). User:Pmlineditor helped me with mine before I got good at guessing wiki-shortcuts (I guessed WP:SIG which led to...) What I can say is don't make it too flashy/eye-hurting, etc. (but you know this already). Basically, it's just wiki-markup. The linked page tells you everything; I can give you feedback (if you want) if you tinker with it in your sandbox or something. Airplaneman 23:42, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Of course! Why didn't I think of that? Anyway, yes, I know all about not making it flashy. I'll mess with it some, probably tomorrow or later. I have a big assignment due tomorrow and I'm supposed to be working on it now.... - PrincessofLlyr (talk) 00:50, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I posted a possible sig in my sandbox. It's pretty much what I want, but comments are welcome!  (I'm done with my assignment, in case you're wondering!) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:07, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm... added a space between your name and "royal court". Otherwise, I like it if you do. Airplaneman 02:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
The space helps - thanks! Do you think it sounds to high-and-mighty (playing off the "princess" in my name)? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 02:56, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, if you're bothered by it, I wouldn't use it. I could possibly see someone getting it the wrong way, but I didn't on first sight. Airplaneman 03:11, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I was trying to be creative, so I don't have a problem with it. I was just trying to make sure it didn't come across sounding wrong. I'll probably keep it the way it is. Unless, of course, the rest of my talk page stalkers hate it! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:14, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
The signature looks fine.I think it sounds fine to me. Brambleclawx 21:21, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I was originally going to wait for Jubileeclipman to come back before asking, but then I remembered that you two probably know some music stuff too: Do any of you have any idea what I'm supposed to do for this? So, there's 2 notes, (B and Bb, I believe), and they have stems coming out of them (like in a quarter note), but the stems are slanted and meet each other, forming a "Y" shape. (This is in Chopin's Ballage in G Minor). If any of you know, that'd be great. Brambleclawx 01:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't sound like anything I've ever seen. What measure, and are you reading a print form, or is it in Chopin's original writing? I have a copy of the music, and while I probably won't recognize it, my dad knows a lot about music. (I'm assuming you meant "ballade" not "ballage"?) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 03:24, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Is it in here? Probably not, from your description, but worth a look. I think I know what you are talking about... have seen it, but don't know the name. If this persists, I could ask my music theory teacher about it. Hey, BTW, the last three posts were not related to Wikipedia... soooo... let's try and assess all of them under WikiProject Music Theory and get some more refs :D. (innocent face...) Airplaneman 03:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
That's not a bad idea. And it should be easier than WikiProject Novel's unassessed articles - there are only 195 articles in . (Anybody know how to link that so that it doesn't place my page in that category?) PrincessofLlyr (talk) 15:34, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

How did you do that? Is is the colon following the brackets ( [[: )? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 18:58, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
It is indeed! Same thing applies with interwiki links. It's one of those little known MediaWiki tricks that come in mighty handy! Set Sail For The Seven Seas 288° 13' 45" NET 19:12, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, Princess, looks like you've got another TPS. Yeah, I meant Ballade (No.1). Its in bar 170. Its a modern print version (photocopied out of the book at that). 3rd beat in the quintuplet group. Brambleclawx 21:19, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
ADD You know what's also really bothering me is that quite a lot of claims of new Warriors books are now currently only confirmed by Victoria Holmes' Facebook. I'm sure this violates WP:RS, but I can't think of any other way except to leave out those facts. But then again, using her Facebook as a source is useful, since I believe that's where she first posted Night Whispers' cover. Ideas? Brambleclawx 21:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
About the music, I found the notes and will show them to my dad and see what he says. (stupid book didn't have measure markings - I had to count!) About Warriors, are there any reliable sources documenting the announcements on her Facebook page? You know, if a newspaper or book site had an article that used info from the FB page, something like that. Or you could word it like, "Victoria Holmes has said that.." and use the FB ref? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 21:33, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow... counting must've taken a while... As for the FB refs, they have all been used on Warriors Wiki, but obviously, I don't think we cite other wikis either. Its not mentioned anywhere reputable either. I've worded it, but not placed an actual citation link to FB because I myself cannot access it w/o an account (nor would any reader who didn't). Brambleclawx 21:39, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Warriors - I don't know what else to say. That's one of the difficulties of the Internet. Chopin's Ballade - My dad thinks it's a unique way of marking that the notes should be played at the same time. 1. Because of the timing. 2. Because of the inherent difficulty of noting that the natural and flat of a note should be played at the same time. Personally, I think it should have been the natural and the sharp of the note below (for easier notation), but that's just me! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 22:37, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Hm... makes sense. Thanks! As for why not the lower note's sharp, it might have something to do with the key... just like we'd never write in F major using a#. Brambleclawx 22:45, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I know it's the key, but it doesn't seem to make good sense. I much prefer things that are logical! And actually, I prefer to play for fun than worry about the theory behind it. Reading is more my thing! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 22:52, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Add - I just tried to change my sig and it gave me this message: "invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags". What's going on? PrincessofLlyr (talk) 22:56, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I've added a missing closing tag. I think what the problem was was that you didn't close the orignal "font face" tag with </font>. Kinda like Italicizing the last section of a page; if you don't close it with another 2 apostrophes, it will still be italics, but you won't realise that the italics don't end unless you add text after it. (I hope that made sense (kind of rambly)). Since you signature shouldn't affect the text below it, you needed to close the HTML tag. (I've closed it for you on your sandbox)Brambleclawx 01:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
If that doesn't work, try this: <span style="font-family:Lucida Calligraphy;color:darkgreen">PrincessofLlyr</span> <span style="font-family:Lucida Calligraphy;color:blue">royal court</span> Airplaneman 02:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm back (though I forgot to go online...). I like your new sig, Princess: we are now in the royal court, apparently! I also like Airplane's sig: never knew there was an airplane symbol! Anyway, I'll be back at full steam tomorrow (nightmare journey via train due to their being crowded because the 'planes are all grounded in the UK). I'll continue to watch those pages, also, even though you are back. Cheers --Jubileeclipman 21:02, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Good to have you back! Brambleclawx 22:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Great that you're back! Hmm, train journey, I've never experienced one, but it doesn't sound fun. :( [Apparently the template for frowning faces isn't the same - I just tried!] About the sig, you're the first person to habitually refer to me as "Princess", so you made me think of playing off that. I'm not officially back, and I'm definitely not going to be back to full editing, but yeah, I'm mostly back! PrincessofLlyr royal court 22:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

(Incidentally, I'm going to clean out the A's tonight - anyone want to help?) It was previously nominated for FA (very prematurely) and failed. I was thinking that with a little work, especially from you musical geniuses, it might pass GA. What do y'all think? PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:36, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Cool. I've taken a look; its pretty well written. Funny how I've never heard of this progression before though. Brambleclawx 00:24, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Wow, now I know why Jubileeclipman had to take a train: 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull. I wonder... that must in some way be pretty cool, to see a giant dustcloud over your entire country. Brambleclawx 00:48, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Yea, cool :). It needs more refs and a 2-3x bigger lead for starters. Maybe we could bring this to GA! Unfortunately, I've got a few hours of HW (!) tonight; just taking a break right now (brain=fried) so I can't help in assessment; maybe this Sunday? Airplaneman 00:49, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Giant dust cloud=cool? Is this a guy thing? Haven't you ever studied how those can mess up climate stuff forever? Isn't that glacier name a mouthful?! (that's entirely too many questions) But yeah, I thought the article looked pretty cool. I'll do some reading and see what I can add. Sunday I'm out (busy all day), but I'll try to work on it before then. Cool frowny face, Seven Seas! PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:10, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it messes up the environment (done a lot of Wiki-reading on that); but still, it would be kind of cool to see something unusual, especially in the sky (unless its a falling nuclear bomb, in which case, not even a guy could say that it would be cool). As for the article... I'll try, but I still have to do Homework, as well as keep up with the tasks listed on my user page. (Theoretically, since if its listed under the scope of WikiProject Classical Music, I would get to it at some point (especially since it starts with an A). Brambleclawx 01:17, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay...I'm still not sure I think a giant dust cloud is cool, but I get the whole unusual=cool thing, so maybe. I will not be able to do anything about the article tonight. In fact, I'm about to be off, except for one last check before bed. I cleared out the G's, J's, L's, U's, and Y's! (grand total of 11 articles, in case you're wondering.) Shocking how many music articles are stubs. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:26, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Frowns etc are created by changing the parameters used in the template markup: eg =   (oddly). I have heard of the Andalusian cadence, in fact, so I'll check out the article shortly. Thanks for that, Princess. (That sounds patronising now I think about it... "How's my little Princess today...?" Hm. Not meant that way, obviously: I just shortened your name the way most people shorten mine to Jubilee and ended up calling you Princess! You obviously don't mind, so I'll carry on calling you that, if that's OK?) Regarding the "dust coud": there isn't one. Or rather, you can't actually see it as it is too high up (20,000 feet or something) and too dissipated to be be seen from the ground. The issue is rather with the bits of ice and rock that might go into the engines; apparently some have fallen to the ground already. I'll check that article, also, to see if it correctly reports these issues. References must be ten-a-penny, given the panic and confusion cause already by the thing, so I'll try dig those out too. BTW, I was already travelling by train: the problem was that I never booked a seat and when passengers were transferred to the trains (from the planes) they were given emergency bookings so that all the non-booked train passengers like me were chucked into the aisles and vestibules. That must have been reported also... must check --Jubileeclipman 22:03, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Great! I was hoping one of you would know something about the cadence - I'm not gonna be good for anything but copyedit. I don't mind you calling me Princess...in fact, if you hadn't mentioned it, I would have never thought of it as patronizing! When I did a quick scan of the article about the eruption it looked pretty well-informed. Of course, you'd probably pick up things I wouldn't! Glad you're back!PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:22, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
LOL! The patronising thing had only just occured to me as I was answering you above... Anyway, no prob then, Princess!
Other things: I just looked at Andalusian cadence and can see why it falls short of GA... For a start, it used # for sharp: not good. I have replaced all sharps, flats and naturals with their music template equivalents (as directed by the present Music Manual of Style). There are several other stylistic problems and a great deal of speculative and POV language (much of which is rather chatty in tone): e.g. I had to replace would've been much more "natural" with would have been much more "natural" (here) but the whole sentence is personal opinion as is stands, anyway, without a reference to back it up.
BTW, the Cat's funny double stemmed notes are indeed to be played together: IIRC, Chopin is mixing G major and G minor at that stage and thus uses both B natural and B flat at the same time in the same chord; an A sharp is not part of a G minor chord, so technically he could not use the enharmonic notation; Chopin being a pedantic stickler for the rules dutifully wrote both flat and natural, therefore, but had to find some way of showing that they are played together rather than one after the other. Polytonal composers have to use the same odd-looking method if they feel it necessary to identify the harmonies that are overlaid one on the other. This particular example from Chopin is yet another showing just how far ahead of his time he often was: witness also the incredible polyrhythms in the final pages of the 4th Ballade (when the lyrical melody's main notes are picked out at the top of a flow of triplet-semiquavers grouped in four over straight semiquavers grouped in six...), the magical "wrong key" ending to the A minor Mazurka in Op. 17 (it ends on an F major chord in first inversion rather than an A minor chord, i.e. A is still in the bass but the chord is "wrong"), and the almost atonal, free-form jazz of the F minor Prelude. Mind you, Beethoven used a kind of proto-Boogie-Woogie in his Eroica and Diabelli variations and wrote something not far from Jazz in the final movement of his final piano sonata (the variation starting with triplets bouncing quickly down a double-octave arpeggio on C major). Amongst other things... --Jubileeclipman 23:52, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
BTW, Wikipedia:WikiProject Music theory is semi-active (probably inactive, in fact) so reviving it would be great! Thanks for the welcome back, too, everyone! --Jubileeclipman 00:15, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I was smiling so much after reading that long rant about music.  . I'm what my music department calls a music geek, music freak, etc. And reading long, music-related rants are just one of the weird things we like to do. Anyways, thanks for the help on that note thing! Lately, if people still read my user page (I don't think anyone does), i've been focusing more on the 1812 Overture in terms of my music related-Wikipedia work. (If you look on my page too, you'll notice that today (technically not yet in my time zone) is my birthday! (not wiki-birthday, that October 23). So I might be out even longer than usual tomorrow (Saturdays are my busiest day!)). Anyways, I hope to get some more Wikipedia work done this weekend! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brambleclawx (talkcontribs)
Yes, I did ramble on a bit up there...! Sorry about that. Then again, I haven't been around for a week so I have to catch up (my excuse, anyway...) BTW, user:Sinebot will not bother with your sig any more (since you have made more than 800 edits). I added the unsigned template to your post, therefore. Hope that's OK? Happy birthday! --Jubileeclipman 00:44, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
This is defintely not good: second time in 2 days! Brambleclawx 00:47, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
It's a sign that you're getting old!   Happy birthday! The music rant was very interesting...I'm more inclined to ramble about literature. I would be happy to help revive WikiProject Music Theory with anything I can do. PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:59, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't worry too much, BC: the number of edit summaries I have had to make that simply say +sig is huge. Better to catch your own missed sig straight away, though, than make other people go through the edit history to figure out who added the comment after several other comments have been made... Anyway, glad my rant went down well! --Jubileeclipman 01:05, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
BTW, Jigglyfidders has been blocked indefinately... Not sure I agree entirely that his edits were "vandalism", per se, but he seems to have some beef about the Sufi denomination of Islam and tried to push mention of it in places where no such mention was warranted. Airplaneman won't be happy... --Jubileeclipman 01:17, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Well no, I can't see the aviator being happy about that, but everyone has seen it coming for awhile. He just wouldn't learn...there's not a lot one can do about that. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:26, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I come back from a busy day to find out this; saw it coming as well. Prepare for the sockpuppets... I will be more than happy to help with WikiProject Music Theory. I'll be more active this summer; that may be a good time to revive it! BTW, I have been spiffing up MacBook Pro for quite a while now - nom'ed twice for GA, failed twice. I've added some more/changed some stuff since then. It'd be good to get an outside opinion (I'm an Apple fan...) so could any of you guys take a look? Thanks, Airplaneman 01:48, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I'll take a look...but I bet you have most of the basic copyedit stuff done already! Would you or Brambleclaw take a look at this? I'm a tad suspicious, but don't know for sure that's it's wrong and would hate revert wrongly. Thanks! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:15, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
As I can recall it, Mintkit is a girl. Airplaneman 02:54, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
On that, I reverted. It just seemed too suspicious that someone got the gender so wrong. PrincessofLlyr royal court 15:25, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
If ever in doubt, the Warriors Wiki is always right. I still have to check Larchkit's gender too (people keep changing it back and forth). Brambleclawx 17:48, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I just checked, and Mintkit is another one of those annoying mistakes: mentioned as a tom in the book, but listed as a she-cat in the allegiances. Brambleclawx 17:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll have to remember to check Warriors Wiki from now on. Your clarification looks fine to me. (Out of curiosity, what in the world does "shanging" mean?  )PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:03, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Darn it! I keep making mistakes on talk pages! Hopefully, I'm not making typos on actual articles as well. Brambleclawx 18:05, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

On a side note, I'm, #36 on this list, while Brambleclawx is #496 and you are #498. Airplaneman 22:58, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I am at #297 BUT the list is out of date as it was made at the end of March: I was then on 8,959 total edits with 772 recent; I am now on 10,841 total (plus one after I press save page...) so I will be way up next time... Mind you, many of my edits are me correcting my own mistakes! (See, Cat, you are really not the only one!) --Jubileeclipman 23:16, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Scarily, some of those people at the top (ignoring the bots) had made more edits recently than I have made in total! User:Koavf made 13,537 edits in the 30 days up to the 30th of March, for example. Not sure we will beat that... --Jubileeclipman 23:31, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Act like a bot, Huggle a lot, do repetitive maintenance tasks, etc. I guess... Airplaneman 01:51, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
I would be lower on the list if they were taking April into account. Still, I'm surprised at how high on the list I am. There are other users though...I wonder if they don't live Wikipedia! If they were getting paid per hour for this, there might be a few more millionaires in the world! (as a reminder, I'm going to be off all day tomorrow. Well, actually, until the next day on Wikipedia time. It's tomorrow for me. And Bramblclawx and Airplaneman. So Jubilee is probably the only one confused right now!) PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:33, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
I saw that over March break (it hadn't been updated back then, if I rememeber correctly). But it looks like someone got around to updating it. Funny how they chose the month where I didn't edit half the time. (I did have 1055 edits that month though). Brambleclawx 13:53, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Oops... my last edit summary should read "say", not "saw". Brambleclawx 13:55, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Happy belated birthday, x-mate of Squirrelflight (sounds depressing... is that why you have the x in your name?) Airplaneman 19:14, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. As for the x... very funny. But no. Its just someone already took Brambleclaw. Brambleclawx 19:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
I see. It's more original your way, anyway :) I nominated MacBook Pro for GA! I'm revamping MacBook Air next. Airplaneman 19:57, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Good luck (I'm not doing the reviewing because I would probably be inclined to pass it automatically)! Brambleclawx 20:01, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

On the totally random note, if his name is Brambleclawx, wouldn't that make him Brambleclaw's ex?(yes, I followed the reasoning behind your name, but I just had to throw that out!) Airplaneman, best of luck with MacBook Pro. So far, it looks like there might be a chance this time. Anyone have an opinion on this !vote oppose that I found very interesting? PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:22, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Very funny.   as for that... well, its a bit... odd. Brambleclawx 21:06, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Not quite sure what to make of the the original comment given that the nominator lives in London, UK and doesn't appear even to be remotely connected to the Foundation. Probably take the advice offered in the highlighted edit... BTW, I often wondered why the "x" was there in the Cat's name. Random addition makes sense. OTOH, you can request names that are in use and since Brambleclaw has only made 4 edits (all of them vandalism), I suspect the Cat would be given that name (if he wanted it), though it isn't a sure thing. See Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations --Jubileeclipman 22:27, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Not sure if they would say yes; those 4 edits aren't deleted, so I believe they are still under GFDL, and so probably cannot be attributed to me (even though they are no longer on the pages). And my account is just short of 6 months old. So they might not say yes. Besides, if I got rid of the x, I'd have to find a new place to stick a link to my Contributions. Oh, and Princess, I don't have the font Lucida calligraphy at home, but I did at school, and I can tell you, I was surprised when I saw your signature while at school. It looked so much nicer than it does while I'm at home Brambleclawx 22:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
They were all reverted (immediately) however, even if they remain in the history. Not sure how that would work, actually. Anyway, probably moot since you are happy enough with the x. I'm not sure I have that font installed, BTW: I'll have to check and download ot it if not... [I copyedited "surpirsed" to "surprised", BTW] --Jubileeclipman 22:58, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I was a school spelling bee champ in grade 6 (amongst grade 5/6's), but I can't spell anymore, probably because I'm typing too fast. And since Princess mentioned the environment earlier: Air_travel_disruption_after_the_2010_Eyjafjallajökull_eruption#Effect_on_the_environment.   Brambleclawx 23:02, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll have a look at that soon! I just found the font online here. Both versions seem to be identical and the download was not brilliant (I had to add ".ttf" to the file names before I could use them). Also, since the font usually costs between $10 and $20, I am not sure it is exactly cosher... However, Princess' sig looks great with the font I have installed. BTW, I also found one called "Symphony in ABC" which maskerades as Lucida Calligraphy: here. Nice (and tuneful), but probably not that useful in everyday life... --Jubileeclipman 23:30, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Cool! I used to have Lucida Calligraphy on my old computer. I'm not sure why its not on the new one. Brambleclawx 00:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Should I change the font to something more common? One of my home computers doesn't have it either...scared me to death the first time I saw my sig! Strangely, that diff I linked for the RfA, I thought I had linked the original vote. I'm still not sure how that happened. Out of curiosity, why do y'all contribute to WP? (this is a common interview question...I'm just curious!) PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:19, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
'Sup to you :). I stick with Arial, which I happen to like. Why do I contribute to WP? Let's see...
  • Well, I learn tons, no doubt about that. Increase vocabulary, etc. Helps in school, I guess.
  • Fun! Work in areas you like (that's what I'm doing) and make sure you have a blast (most of the time).
  • Sense of purpose - well, you're helping tons of people, right? For instance, MacBook Pro is viewed over 2000 times a day. You also learn in the process how to become a better writer and hopefully, a better person who can interact and collaborate with ease amongst others.
That pretty much sums it up. Will add some if I can think of any. By now I will have accumulated thousands of service hours... only if they counted *sighs dreamily*. Airplaneman 03:26, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I think it makes it more interesting when some people see a sig one way and others another way. OTOH, it does make your sig longer (by this much: <font face="Lucida Calligraphy"></font>) which might annoy people that don't see the effect... Then again, your sig isn't as long as some that are seen the same way by everyone. Basically, your call as the aviator says. I like the font, though.
Regarding "why do y'all contribute to WP?"... Are you really ready for the long answer??? Bulleted summary:
  1. Sharing: I want to share and get feedback on my (limited) knowledge of the world, its people, and their achievements (especially, but not exclusively, in the field of music): WP is a great place to do that, IMO
  2. Purpose: I want to help build an accurate all-embracing encyclopedia
  3. Interaction: I enjoy the social interaction and collaboration that WP encourages, even if it is somewhat impersonal in that most of us will never meet and rarely know even the real names of other editors, let alone age, RL experience, personal circumstances etc etc.
    • The impersonal nature is an advantage, perhaps, in that none of those things are important, IMO: a child of twelve might have insight into a complex piece of music after reading a school text book, insight that a university professor might never have had from all of her studies, lectures and dissertations; everyone's contributions are valued here at WP
  4. Lifelong learning: I have learnt so many unexpected things working on WP which go way beyond the bare information contained in articles and discussions. Listing them here would make this already huge thread twice as long, probably...
Also, addicton comes into it somewhere...   --Jubileeclipman 15:15, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Nice answers...sounds a lot like my reasons! The sig I'm still thinking about. @Airplaneman - Thanks for the heart; nice to know I'm loved! PrincessofLlyr royal court 17:15, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Airplaneman's been spreading the pretty hearts around  . Very appreciated. The font thing is fine. Now... why I edit:
  1. Educating Others: Adding to the world's knowledge feels like a worthwhile mission; many people read Wikipedia (myself included, although I do more editing and less reading now), and it's good to have accurate information to work with, no matter how much teachers do not want people to use it as a reference in their bibliography (I just use the references on the Wikipedia page as my reference).
  2. Fun: It is, for some reason I still am not entirely sure of, very fun to edit. I feel immense satisfaction every time I warn a vandal, report one, and when I can increase the quality rating on a page.
  3. Educating Self: I learn while editing when I stumble across interesting pages; I also theoretically learn important life skills such as conflict resolution, cooperation, backing up my arguments and statements with valid sources, and how to use a formal tone (good for writing business letters and resumes when I am older).
  4. Defending the Warriors pages: I myself had been misled several times by false claims of a Warriors movie on this page; I now take immense pride in making sure all Warriors info is correct (even if it is OR).
  5. Addiction: Nothing more needs to be said here.
  6. A sense of purpose: I have goals I can easily reach in short terms on Wikipedia (the raising of artciles to GA, FA), and some longer term ones (becoming a high profile editor, etc.), that are much more easily accomplish-able than many RL goals
  7. I feel welcomed: When I first started, no one came to me and said "hey, kid, we don't need you." (Ok, almost no one said anything to me in the beginning anyways; I had to go looking for you people.)
And probably a few more I can't list off the top of my head right now. Brambleclawx 21:46, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

When I first started, I edited Pink Floyd... badly... and got told off for messing up an FA... I simply rebooted my self and edited Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby instead... this time getting serious praise from some important Wikipedians. That encouraged me, though I was unable to edit for several months and only restarted late last year. I was elected the coordinator for WP:CTM on the strengh of my edits to various contemporary music articles and my (perceived) ability to be impartial and see the bigger picture. That made me one of the "big boys", perhaps, even though I was still only a newbie really! I am still learning, of course... probably will never stop learning --Jubileeclipman 23:24, 20 April 2010 (UTC) Btw, where's my heart?   --Jubileeclipman 23:26, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the warm welcome

I really appreciate it! It means a lot and I have really liked transitioning from Wikipedia reader to newbie editor. I hope in the future to boldly edit! Best, loafysam (talk) 17:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome! I was a newbie myself not so long ago (about a year, actually) and it was a bit of a change! I hope you enjoy the community and learn a lot from editing. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Happy editing! PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:17, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, PrincessofLlyr. You have new messages at Loafysam's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the Talkback or Tb template.

vandalism?

hows the vandalism? I was replying to him after he told me something. stay out of our discussions--70.149.109.207 (talk) 02:30, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, he thinks your posts are vandalism, so it seems that there was no discussion. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:31, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
??? How can this (reverted by Tide rolls) and this (reverted by ClueBot) not be vandalism? Your post at Tide rolls's talk page has again been deleted anyway. Some nice bedtime reading for you on your talkpage, BTW --Jubileeclipman 02:43, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Take it easy! How many ce's was that? The IP hasn't done anything since his last warning. I wasn't going to argue about whether or not his edits were vandalism, only his post to Tide rolls' page. It was borderline. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:48, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
"stay out of our discussions" sounded like a threat, to be honest. Borderline or not, his reversion of your reversion moved 7OA to issue that final warning. Anyway, one to watch, I guess (hopefully no ce's this time!)--Jubileeclipman 03:00, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, maybe I assume too much good faith! I toyed with the idea of simply ignoring his comment here...that probably would have been better, but I hate to do that. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:05, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
You could just archive this section and forget about it... --Jubileeclipman 04:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Music Theory

Any more thoughts on reactivating it? (This is to all the TPS's as well as the Princess, BTW.) --Jubileeclipman 21:31, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I would be interested. (I found this nice template for TPS's: tps) Brambleclawx 21:48, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I don't know a lot about music, but I would be glad to help in any way I can. Assessment, cleanup, vandalism patrol, anything you need me to do. Maybe I'll join and just be a little gnome! PrincessofLlyr royal court 21:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
If anyone has attempted to study my editing patterns, they'll notice that for most edits, I progress slowly through each article in a project, an example being how I'm still working on I Saw My Lady Weepe after so many months. So if I were to help revive it, my edits would not amount to much to the project overall. Brambleclawx 22:05, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict)I'll help with a revival (say, this June?). I'm also trying to revive WP:NOVELS this summer (see my talk) with User:Sadads. Any help would be appreciated! Airplaneman 22:06, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Now, WikiProject Novels is something I would be very glad to help with! My summer is looking pretty hectic, but with school cut out I should have more time to edit. PrincessofLlyr royal court 22:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
My summer will probabaly feature less editing (I'm sure I've explained it before). As well, I'm studying RCM "History 2", which is music history focusing on Medieval times until the Classical period. (How exciting: more info to add to Wikipeda!). Brambleclawx 22:13, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
That's fine - any little bit helps! I'll be around mostly in June/July, as August is school prep time, sports tryouts, etc... Airplaneman 23:06, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Indeed! A little goes a long way, as they say. To be honest, I have got caught up in Wikipolitics and Policy so my recent edits are generally not in article space but rather in WP talk space. I hope to redress that by getting back to WP:CTM and reviving WP:MTHEORY (even though M-theory is something quite different... we will need to look at those shortcuts!) over the next few months. I guess I could help with WP:NOVEL as well but I am not as knowledgable on that subject: perhaps I could be the mop-and-bucket man? (BTW, I Saw My Lady Weepe... That's how I ended up over here! When the cat asked me about that article, I got curious about the Qui thingy after I looked at his talkpage... Weird how these things turn out!) --Jubileeclipman 23:13, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)This, this, this, and this are freaking freaky... Thinking of adding Template:NOINDEX to my userpage... Airplaneman 23:19, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Hm. I am NOINDEXED but only on my user page and talk page on en:WP. We would need to NOINDEX every single page in our user space on every part of the Project. I doubt many will Google "Jubileeclipman" but you others migh get googled since your names actually mean something or are taken from somewhere else. It depends how paranoid you are I suppose! --Jubileeclipman 23:33, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I love the way the most unrelated people connect on WP...kind of a Six degrees of separation thing. I just added the NOINDEX template - that is a tad scary, but nobody outside my family knows my username, so I'm not really afraid of RL problems even if someone discovers me on Google. Still, stranger things have happened. PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:24, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Feeling the love already!  . And yes, that's another thing about WP: unlike FaceBook, Twitter, etc we have a shared purpose and the most unlikely of friendships can blossom. In RL and even at those sites, my presence in a "forum" like this would be questioned, for example (think about it...). But we are not in RL or FaceBook: we are looking at the best ways of editing WP (though going off in strange tangents at times). That's why we connect and talk, no other reason, AFAIK --Jubileeclipman 00:37, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome! I had at times thought that it was interesting that you wanted to interact with all of us...but never really thought it was weird. And strangely, we do all have some things in common IRL, outside of WP. Three of us read a lot of the same literature, and we're all somewhat (or a lot!) interested in music. Besides, you are a good cultural experience for us, you know, the whole British thing.   PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:15, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I'll admit I've always wanted to meet someone from England  . The template is deprecated, if you read the page; it says to use the magic words __NOINDEX__ instead... Oh well. Personally, I have no idea why anyone would want to search for Brambleclawx; the x has no meaning. Unless someone were trying to stalk me, that is. But I've only got two other non-WP accoutns under the name. Although YouTube does have my image and voice. Hm... I'm not worried though. Brambleclawx 01:48, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I've met a couple of people from England...love that accent! I did a search with spaces in the proper places in my name and I don't show up on the first page. Really, I'm not all that worried, but being cautious never hurts. I archived our above discussion because it was giving me this notice that my page was so long and I should consider archiving. If you think it's too soon, feel free to tell me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:02, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
The huge thread needed to be archived really. That's why I started this one...  . I changed your spelling, BTW, BC(x): "depreciated" isn't the right word. (Hope you don't mind?) Anyway: Since none of us give anything that could actually definately identify us or precisely locate us, except to those that already know us, then we need not worry. Even my stating that I live in York is not enough to positively locate me: lots of people live in York, around 200,000 people within 105 square miles according to WP! Assuming you trust WP...   --Jubileeclipman 02:19, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Good point about identity. I did think that meeting you guys IRL would be cool, but given age and geographical difficulties, that's not very likely. About copyediting the Cat, I think we should all come to the conclusion that fixing each others' posts is inevitable. Anyone agree? PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:09, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Yup, it's inevitable. On a side note, PrincessofLlyr, I think your TPS userbox would do better inside your talk page notice so that it is centered, but it's really just an appearance thing. Airplaneman 03:17, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
That's sounds great...you want to fix it for me?   PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:38, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Back to the original point of this section, I was thinking about reviving WP:MTHEORY. Here are my ideas:

  • Create an invite template. ( ex.Template:PJinvite)
  • Choose an article of the month, possibly for May, since April's half through. I would go for improving Andalusian cadence to GA, but that's just me.
  • Add to the red-linked cleanup list. I'm sure I could pick out a few of the stubs I've assessed that need work.
  • There is an empty section for guidelines. Perhaps we could start a section on the talk page for suggestions.
  • Submit an entry at the WikiProject desk with a news blurb about reviving this project.

Those are my suggestions. Feedback? PrincessofLlyr royal court 17:10, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Excellent ideas! I like the idea of the welcome template, especially. I was thinking of one for WP:CTM: any ideas? Article of the month is a tried and tested method of both sorting articles and getting editors interested in projects (and recruiting new members, therefore). Cleanup: ditto. Signpost: yeah... I keep forgetting about them. They were going to review WP:COMPOSERS recently (I was interviewed and give my answers, in fact) but it came in the wake of the dreaded infobox RfC (now closed, BTW, aviator: see the closing remarks). Regarding the guidelines, though: both WP:MUSTARD and WP:MOSMUSIC contain a lot of blurb about music theory and notation. I am actually in the procees of trying to rationalise all the Music guidelines and streamline them: see here. Not much participation yet, but it is still early days (and the big players such as SlimVirgin, DCGeist and Tony1 are all caught up working on the other guidelines, at the moment, so I haven't pushed them into helping me out yet). IMO, less is more: a specific guideline page for music theory (whether in Project space or Wikipedia space) might not be necessary, therefore, if the main guidelines already deal with the issues. This is not just my view: the other auditors (including those big names) all agree with that idea in principle, though exceptions are recognised. Thanks for giving this some thought though: between us we really will have a great project (or three) if we pull together. BTW, regarding meeting: I have met one Wikipedian (GuillaumeTell) and it was a positive experience; however, I remain convinced that such meetings should remain rare occurances due to the fact that WP is about online cooperation on an encyclopedia not RL meetings (the summits etc are different in that they are usually about the software itself and the Foundation, things that might need face to face meetings) --Jubileeclipman 18:17, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll help out if I can, but I feel like I've got enough to keep me occupied for now. Brambleclawx 21:46, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
It'll be a while yet, I suspect. We'll have to keep reminding each other, though --Jubileeclipman 22:01, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, in that case, I'll keep a watch out for anything new about this idea then. Brambleclawx 22:03, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
And I guess I'll try to clear out the unassessed queue. (<-that is an extremely weird word) I've never done anything with templates...maybe that would be good practice. I'll see if I can pull something together in my sandbox. Jubilee, I was thinking of an invite template, but welcome is good too. We could skip the invite (do that by hand) and just do a welcome one, or do both. Ideas? On a totally different note, I just put myself down as an adopter, so we'll see if that goes anywhere. Also, I know this sounds terrible, but I tried adding the tps box to my welcome box and can't get it centered. Help? PrincessofLlyr royal court 17:39, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
I tried as well but also failed. It has something to do with the message box. I think both welcome and invite templates would be good. Are you saying you put yourself down as an adopter? It takes much time. Airplaneman 21:17, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
That's exactly what I meant, thanks! So far, no bites, but that's okay. I'll probably just except one or two at first. About the box, in that case I have no idea what should be done. PrincessofLlyr royal court 21:25, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Looks like Airplaneman sorted that out for you. Brambleclawx 23:21, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Welcome and invite templates. I actually meant the latter but wrote the other, fortuitously. Let's just get some ideas floating around before we actually create anything. I can call on editors like Quiddity and Moxy to help create the templates. Moxy designs Portals and does a fantastic job: there's another possibility. Regarding adoption: expect to wait for ever even to get one person... I was actually asked by one newbie, recently, if I adopted after I had suggested adoption to them: maybe that's a way in? (That editor was actually only here to cause trouble, BTW, and got blocked after about 4 days, as I suspected would happen given the trouble they had already caused. Hence I said "no" on that occassion... but might say "yes" in the future, who knows?) --Jubileeclipman 00:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I adopted my RL friend, who still hasn't made a single contribution. I guess WP isn't for everyone. I just made sure I fit adopter criteria, then said yes. By the way, I'm a bit ill right now, so I might not be editing as much. Brambleclawx 00:52, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
ADD Oh, and what are your opinions on Warriors (novel series)#Trading cards? Should it be under "foreign editions", or "other media"? And should we add a picture to support their existence? Brambleclawx 01:05, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Trading cards - "other media", pic would be great! Tps box - thanks, Airplaneman! Adoption - I'm patient. And I already offered to adopt someone. Random - I found the Cat and Aviator's Youtube channels today. BC, I liked both Scarborough Fair and Canon in D. Those are two of my favorite pieces and they were nicely arranged. Airplaneman, my little sister really liked your background. (she loves astronomy) I think that's everything... PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:12, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh thank you for those nice compliments. I try to write music in my spare time, but lately, I haven't been feeling in the mood to write anything. I've always dreamt of writing a Warriors movie score... I'll wait for Airplaneman to give his opinion first, before I move (or not move) the section. Brambleclawx 01:15, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Add On another weird tangent, I find Krystian Zimerman very fun to watch when he plays piano. Brambleclawx 01:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
@PrincessofLlyr - thanks :)! As you can see, I'm a David Choi fan...
I think you can go ahead with the move of "trading cards" to "other media". Sounds logical. Airplaneman 01:35, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok, sounds like its time for me to try writing my first fair use rationale! Oh, and does anyone know what happens if a redirect leads to a page which redirects to the original redirect? Will the browser crash? Brambleclawx 01:38, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
No idea. Why is this necessary? Zimerman - very talented, but no offense, I think he takes the dramatics a bit far. I understand how people get into their music, but that's just excessive. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:43, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I need help with the fair-use rationale. But I'll do it tomorrow. I have to go for tonight. Maybe in the meantime, you can help me. [1] is the picture, except I cropped the text at the top off. As for Zimerman, I think his dramatics are amusing (though not contributing to the music as much). Brambleclawx 01:50, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I've never done images before. As far as I can tell, the pic is good if there are no equivalent free images, and if it won't hurt the owner's profit from it. But I've never done it before, so I'm not sure I'll be any help. I really should go too. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:58, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll see if I can help tomorrow. I've done fair use... once, a while back, for a book cover or something. My YouTube background is of eight Trans-Neptunian objects. The file: File:EightTNOs.png :). Airplaneman 02:06, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
My sister says: "Tell him a huge thank you!" The file is already copied to our computer and will probably be the background before long. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I just had to come back here and comment on the Cat's infinite redirect. I have no idea what happens but it would be easy enough to find out, I guess... If I am not not back for the end of the world, I'll see you in eternity! --Jubileeclipman 03:10, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I'll try it in my sandbox: I'll redirect my sandbox to my sandbox talk, and vice versa. Wish me luck! (The worst that could happen is a crashed computer) Airplaneman 03:19, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I'll keep it up for you guys to try. Redirects redirect only once, and then stop, probably to prevent Brambleclawx's theory... Airplaneman 03:22, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Same here:
Knock yourself out... basically not a lot happens: you only get redirected to the redirect page and that's it. Probably a fail safe. Double redirects (page a → page b → page c) do redirect you through page b to c straight away but here you go from a to b and stop without being sent back to a. However, if you click the redirect link... well have a go and see if you can figure it out. What doesn't happen is for you to end up in an infinate redirect loop. As I say, probably a fail safe. Any more weird ideas to try out? --Jubileeclipman 03:28, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I would've tried it ou myself if it weren't for the fact I was afraid of an infinite redirect loop. Anyways, I feel ready to do the fair use rationale today! Brambleclawx 23:20, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok, the picture is up. I hope the fair use stuff is all taken care of. Today, during some spare time at school ( I finished a car blueprint early), I made this beautiful picture: File:Twinkle man with lazer.jpg. Brambleclawx 00:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I saw the picture, glad that worked! Good job with fair use rationale. The Twinkle guy is cool! PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:40, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
The trading card rationale looks OK to me. I was about to send a whole load of links about non-free images etc but I see that it probably isn't necessary, now. I might post them in my user space, actually, for my own reference as I keep forgetting where to find them. The whole copyrights thing is a major minefield, BTW, so be prepared for someone to object to that image even with that rationale... --Jubileeclipman 00:52, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I like laserman! Great! --Jubileeclipman 01:07, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I've been in contact with someone who seems to know their stuff on fair-use, and I think I've got the stuff they mentioned to me. Brambleclawx 19:33, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Great! I saw your warning template today - looks good! PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:44, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Warning template? You mean when I was warning User talk:Hatshorse? Brambleclawx 19:46, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes. The exclamation mark is cool. PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:53, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Commons is a nice place to look for pictures. Brambleclawx 20:00, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Commons is probably the best place to start, IMO: you may well find any conceivable picture you'd ever need if you look hard enough! --Jubileeclipman 23:15, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

GAN backlog elimination drive - 1 week to go

First off, on behalf of myself and my co-coordinator Wizardman, I would like to thank you for the efforts that you have made so far in this GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a success, and that is thanks to you. See this Signpost article about what this drive has achieved so far.

We're currently heading into the final week of the drive. At this time, if you have any GANs on review or on hold, you should be finishing off those reviews. Right now, we have more GANs on review or on hold than we do unreviewed. If you're going to start a GA review, please do so now so you can complete it by the end of the month and so that the nominator has a full 7-day window to address any concerns.

See you at the finish!

Adoption

Thanks for your offer anyways Vicenzo08 (talk) 06:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Does that mean you don't want to be adopted (then please remove the "adoption wanted" box on your userpage) or you agree to be adopted? Airplaneman 17:29, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, he changed the box back to wanting adoption (I had changed it to reflect the adoption offer), so I was assuming he simply didn't want to be adopted by me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:09, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I thinks it hinges on the phrase "experienced editor" in the adoption box: he probably interprets that as meaning a sysop who started editing in 2006 and has 50,000 edits to his/her name. Counts me and the pilot out then... And even MSGJ, for that matter (just) --Jubileeclipman 18:21, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I figured. But guess what? Users like that don't have much time for adoption! Anyway, I don't mind - another user already accepted my offer, and it's better that they not accept if they're going to be unhappy with me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:26, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
"Users like that don't have much time for adoption"... Good point. I have ask him to explain, anyway, so you might get some feedback at his talkpage. BTW, Asdadogs? You might wish to discuss the issue of Usernames with your adoptee... Probably no biggie but it might raise some eyebrows in the UK (at least) --Jubileeclipman 18:39, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not from the UK (and fairly naive even for an American). Do I want to know what his username means? PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:44, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Asda home page. See also Asda... --Jubileeclipman 18:47, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Whew! *wipes brow* I was afraid it was offensive language or something. I have left him a note. Although we may have trouble talking...he's in GMT, so the time difference is pretty extreme. Whatever would I do without all of you useful talk page stalkers?   PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:52, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
A lot more, probably, without us butting in all the time! More good or more bad... no idea  . Anyway, I'm in GMT and the difference is only about 6 or 7 hours. It's mid afternoon there right? Only 8pm here --Jubileeclipman 18:58, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
No, I get more done this way because I want to log back in - it's not just work! And yes, you are correct about the time. I had lots of trouble with all the time differences here when I started. Being in GMT would be lots easier I think! PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:12, 24 April 2010 (UTC) Add - I saw your note on his talk page - if his name really does refer to the Autistic service dogs, is it possible that he could keep the name and simply explain on his userpage?
Possibly. It is a voluntary service so it isn't promotion of a comercial company. My ex-adopter, MSGJ, might be the man to ask. Perhaps I should leave it to you, though, so I don't tread on your toes as you get to know this editor...? (I'm happy to ask Martin though, if you like, and report back here.) --Jubileeclipman 19:22, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
That might be good (you talking to Martin). I want to let him (my adoptee) know that he has options without totally overwhelming him. There is so much to learn about editing here! For now, you guys making sure that I do things right is probably good, but actually interacting with him I'm not sure about. He might begin to feel like he got more adopters than he bargained for in me! PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:25, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
LOL! Perhaps we should make a deal here and now that—unless you expressly ask for our help or we notice something especially important that you don't seem to have noticed (like this guy's username)—we leave you alone to work with your adoptees. I'll ask Martin about the name, though, as I want to know too --Jubileeclipman 20:02, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
That sounds good! It's not that I don't want the help, but... - PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:05, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Fully understood. Anyway: User_talk:MSGJ#Username_policy. Hope that helps and I'll keep out of you way now --Jubileeclipman 22:56, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

BTW, Asdadogs now has a new name. Also, I too have trouble with tables etc: Help:Table isn't very... ah... helpful, IMO   (That's it now: promise.) --Jubileeclipman 23:12, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Yikes! Because I have no experience with tables. *thinking, thinking* Maybe suggest that he read Help:tables and then mess around in a sandbox? That's what generally works for me. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:15, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
You're honestly going to direct a newbie to possibly the worst "Help" page on WP and let him get on with it?!? I'll get my thinking cap on too, if you like? I really do need to get to grips with tables anyway. OK? --Jubileeclipman 23:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Um, this is where I get lost with the whole electronic communication thing. If you really, really, think the page is that bad, what else am I supposed to do? Besides, is it possible he could get something out of it? I suppose this is good for me too, my first adoptee needing help with something I haven't touched! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:27, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I read through the page and I think I could work with it, as long as I followed the examples and didn't do anything too complicated. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:31, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
The examples are good, actually. It's just the text surrounding them that confuses me! Ignore that, I guess, and we're fine. I'll still try to get my head around it but it sounds like you have it in hand. K-I-S-S   (Don't get the wrong idea... click the link!) --Jubileeclipman 23:49, 24 April 2010 (UTC) P.S. "Always try to use the "Show preview" button before saving an edit. It takes a little extra time, but keeps one from making two or three more edits to fix mistakes." Great advice that I really ought to put into practice more often...   --Jubileeclipman 23:56, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I swear that I didn't have any of my favorite talk page stalkers in mind when I wrote that. But I am a tad obsessive about not making mistakes, especially grammar/spelling ones, so that was a big deal for me. Besides, it helps when doing complicated edits, as you can check and see if you got it right without embarrassing yourself. I'm also very bad at learning things by reading about them (weird, since I love reading) and do better with a hands-on demonstration or messing with it myself. Examples are good! PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

You should honestly click through my history sometime: there are some howlers in there! I ended up underlining the text on an entire page once and have placed pages into the most inappropriate categories by forgetting the first colon (i.e. :category:foo not ) as well as transluded entire pages into other pages by using rather than .... Misspelling words is my usual thing though: "neural" instead of "neutral", for example... Oh and forgetting to sign. Learning by doing is my thing too, actually, though I also learn a lot from interaction with others. Going back to the communication thing: yes, it can be hard to gauge whether people are being serious, ironic or just jesting. That's why I like smileys—though they can add to the confusion, admittedly.   I really do think that "Help" page is awful, BTW, but maybe that's just me. I left a note on its talkpage, so we'll see. Then again, the most likely people to reply are those that frequent the page and they are likely to find the page helpful... not sure my post is going to achieve much now I think about it. Oh well. Anyway it really does seem as if you have cracked how to help your adoptee. Don't hesistate to ask, though, if you get stuck! I think that's one advantage you have over other adopters: you have a team of dwarves to help out! Or may be that's a disadvantage... haven't seen that film for years so I forget, now --Jubileeclipman 00:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

LOL! Do you realise the irony of this: "Is there any chance of creating a summary table explaining all the markup at a glance?" You're asking for a table to be created on the page about tables and then proceed to say that you can't do it. Sorry, that just made me laugh. Not to brag or anything (which means that I will proceed to do exactly that), but I don't think I've ever forgotten to sign a post. I could be wrong, but I can't think of one. Now, of course, I will proceed to do that sometime within my next half-dozen posts. Anyway, I am very lucky. Between the four of us, we should be able to figure anything out! And believe it or not, I don't think I've ever seen all of Snow White. If I have, it was forever ago. But I know the story. Aren't you up late? PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
You can always read the Wikipedia article! Airplaneman 02:31, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Brilliant idea! Tables are not my strong point, so I can't offer much. As for mistakes, I've made plenty. And of course, there was the time my warning template's exclamation marks yielded somewhat weird results. Brambleclawx 16:17, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Which Dwarf are you, BTW?   --Jubileeclipman 18:46, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Not any of the real ones. Actually, I just hate to judge what kind of person I am. I usually let other people do that. Brambleclawx 22:44, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
What does that make me - Snow White? I sure hope not! Anyway, Jubilee, you posted recently at an AN/I about User:Koavf and said something the effect of: "I'm inclined to AFG..." Did you mean AGF? I didn't want to change it, especially not on an AN/I post, but thought you might like to know. PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Certainly not the Queen... you could be the mirror?   Thanks for the tip off on the ANI thread: I'll get it sorted now thanks. I'm all over the place at the moment... literally! (As you've noticed no doubt...) --Jubileeclipman 04:20, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
BTW, this ANI thread is worth a look if you feel like a chuckle... I'll let you figure out what the comments mean --Jubileeclipman 04:35, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I will be happy and proud to be your adoptee, if your still want me,I always wanna to contribute to Wikipedia and learn more about how it works.I know you are a very loved and respected member of this community and I'm sure I can learn a lot from your experience. Vicenzo08 (talk) 07:52, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I just moved this post here. Hope you (both) don't mind? --Jubileeclipman 12:56, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Don't mind at all! I was actually about to do that myself. PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:48, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Phew! How are you getting on with your other adoptee? --Jubileeclipman 14:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, he hasn't been on since my answer to his last question. He seems similar to me when I was a newbie - only on occasionally. Which is fine, because I'm fairly busy myself. Still available a lot, but busy. PrincessofLlyr royal court 16:33, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I only used Martin a few times and then threw myself in and got BOLD. You'll probably find that newbies quite frequently make occasional use of their adoptors and then disappear for a while. Conversely, I have used Martin far more often since I removed the adoption template than I ever did when it was there! Ho hum... --Jubileeclipman 19:45, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I was adopted and I think I only asked my adopter one question. Airplaneman got all the rest of them! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:04, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I would still be glad to adopt you. I'll change the boxes and then move some of our discussions to your page, as I think that would be easier. PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:48, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering... who was your adopter? Can't recall... Airplaneman 23:13, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Looks like Kevinalewis Brambleclawx 23:17, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Minor issue, Princess: your userboxes clash with your purple banners my end so I can't see the name of your new adoptee (though I can guess...) --Jubileeclipman 23:19, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
That said... --Jubileeclipman 23:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Oh my, you guys edit-conflicted me a bunch. BCx is right - how did you find that? You can find the entirety of our interaction here. I'll mess with my user page...not sure how that happened. I thought I had spaced them properly. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:25, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I looked in your user contribs, went straight to oldest and looked for an edit summary along the lines of "adoption". Though by the looks of it, you didn't really need an adopter that much. Brambleclawx 23:29, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Smart cat! Jubilee - most of those are here now. Is my userpage okay now? PrincessofLlyr royal court 00:08, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that's much better. Was about to use the same methods the Cat used BTW but he beat me to it. That's how I found the 100,001 userboxen you added...   [That tongue just does not look right at all, BTW...] --Jubileeclipman 01:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
If you look at the smiley more closely, you'll notice the toungue is just a red square :). That's why it look so... detached. Airplaneman 01:48, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, I didn't want to add them individually, and there were so many neat ones to choose from! I feel good now - I helped a little stub article that probably hasn't gotten much traffic! (okay, so it was minor help, but it made me feel good) Airplaneman, I noticed some chilly interaction between you and Mono...rough. I haven't yet figured out why he does stuff like that. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:53, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
That's life, I guess. The cool thing about Wikipedia is you can just walk away, any day. It's not like that in real life. That's how I manage to keep a cool head around here, I guess. Mono said he was "wiped out" or something (to explain his removing my message, etc.) We all have those days, but I usually don't edit when that happens... Airplaneman 02:02, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

I've started an expansion of the "Settings and Characters" section of the Warriors article, using info retrieved from the recovered "Clan" article. Feel free to point out if I'm missing anything major. Brambleclawx 21:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Eek... I just had to take the Aviator's advice and walk away... getting a little heated for my liking in certain corners of WP. Anyway, just to let you all know, I'll be on Wikibreak of indeterminate length from Friday unless I can find a way to connect to the net from my mother's cottage in the middle of the North York Moors. I'm moving there to get things in order before I move up to live with my dad in Scotland to be his carer. He also has no internet at present so I'll have to set up a connection. OTOH, he's in a bad way, so I really need to concentrate on him than other things. I'll be back within a couple of months, though, I hope. I'll be back around here before Friday, though. Thanks all for your help and wisdom and for the great conversations we have had --Jubileeclipman 21:47, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll let you know about articles etc to watch --Jubileeclipman 21:48, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry you're leaving, but that kind of thing definitely is more important. I'll miss you, such a helpful talk page stalker. Hope you can come back soon. PrincessofLlyr royal court 21:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, PrincessofLlyr, I'll miss you too. Anyway, I have not gone yet and I have a ton of stuff here to try to deal with before Friday... --Jubileeclipman 21:59, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
@Brambleclawx — If you're referring to this section, I honestly think it would do better to put the details in the list of characters and just provide a list of positions and possibly a brief, one-sentence description so that they can be condensed into, say, a paragraph or two. It's just my take on it. On a side note, critical reception goes positive first, negative second.
@Jubileeclipman — We'll miss you! Best wishes to you and your family :). As I mentioned earlier, you guys can expect my edit count to tank next month. Hope to edit more in June! Airplaneman 22:48, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
You will definetly be missed, JubileeClipMan. I hope to see you around sometime soon though. Best of luck with your family. I'm sure that even though WP is not a How-to, you might be able to find some helpful information for caring for you father (just a suggestion). See you soon!
@Airplaneman — Well, in the previous GA assessment, the reviewer said it would be good to expand that section. And for the critical reception, I'll do my best to orgaise that when I get there. (not quite there yet). Brambleclawx 00:38, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks guys and gals! I really appreciate your comments and have enjoyed the time we have had in discussion on the Princess' talkpage. Hopefully, I'll be back before you know it. One thought: We would probaly be best advised to let PrincessofLlyr help out her own adoptees and only help out either if she explicitly asks or makes a glaring error in her advice. Multiple people bombarding newbies with advice could be a little overwhelming for them. Agreed? --Jubileeclipman 19:26, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Sounds right! Hope to see you soon. Brambleclawx 21:56, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Shouldn't that be "guys and gal"?   Thanks for all the help Jubilee, and wise suggestion. Oh, and that kind barnstar! I know you will be sorely missed among the music articles here (and other stuff, I just don't know what!). PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Articles? {Thinks...} Oh yeah... I knew we were here for some useful reason other than defining/restructuring/proposing/etc policies and guidelines, engaging in pointless discussions, and even doing both at the same time...  . My wikibreak came at the right time methinks... And you all deserved your barnstars. Later... --Jubileeclipman 02:47, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
I often avoid typing "guys" because I don't know if Princess is fine with being mentioned that way. I'm pretty sure if you look at previous posts, I often use "you people" or something like that. I keep saying this, but we'll all miss you, JubileeClipMan! I'll be keeping a lookout on my watchlist for your return! Brambleclawx 00:26, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

I tease about it, but I don't mind things like "guys". I know you just mean people in general. My favorite gender neutral term is "y'all". I'm southern! Have to agree with the repetition of sorrow - very sad that Jubilee's leaving. Just as long as he comes back! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:02, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Welcome Template

Hey..I know this may seem odd...but I LOVE your welcome template and was wondering if there was anyway I could make one like it. I don't exactly know how at all... :} Homework2 pass a notesign! 21:24, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, I copied mine from User:Airplaneman, so he takes credit for everything but the colors. You can create your own page, something like User:Hereforhomework2/Welcome and copy over all of the formatting and then change it however you like, with colors and your name. Then, when you want to welcome someone, use subst:User:Hereforhomework/Welcome and that will post your welcome template! (You can see a list of colors here.) Does that fully answer your question? PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:00, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
I believe so. Thx. Homework2 pass a notesign! 02:08, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
If you have any problems, you can just ask here and I or one of my tp stalkers will take a look. Just a suggestion, but I like to use edit summaries on talk pages as well as articles. You seem to do a fine job with edit summaries on article edits. It's just a preference really, but I thought I'd throw it out there! PrincessofLlyr royal court 02:12, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah. Good idea. will do. Homework2 pass a notesign! 02:14, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, your majesty, for reverting the vandalism on my talk page and reporting the vandal. Such chivalry is much appreciated :) Emily Jensen (talk) 01:36, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome! You know, when I chose this username, I never imagined all of the puns people would play off of it! PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:44, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Taking info from "real life" sources

What I want it to know is about the process of taking info from books instead of the Internet Vicenzo08 (talk) 08:01, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Okay, that's a really good question! You may have noticed that a lot of the sources used here are online. That's mostly because those are readily available. Offline sources can be very helpful to an article. Please read through Wikipedia's guideline for reliable sources, which applies to both online and off. Also, there is a useful essay about offline sources here. If they are reliable, you can use books, newspaper, etc. It could be something you own, or something available from a public library. Just make sure to properly list all of the information: title, author, publisher, etc. See here for more information about that. Does that fully answer your question? PrincessofLlyr royal court 12:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) And Cite book is the best way to go about citing books. Also, installing REFTools makes it much easier! Airplaneman 23:43, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) (=Dwarf#2) Just to be clear: click the blue link in between the curly brackets and read the info. It takes a bit of practice but you'll get there. Also, make sure you add reflist to the bottom of the page somewhere if it (or its alternative: <references/>) is missing. Add it under the heading ==References== --Jubileeclipman 23:53, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your guidance PrincessofLlyr, I really appreciate it Vicenzo08 (talk) 18:52, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
