PrincessAlice13, you are invited to the Teahouse

Hi PrincessAlice13! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia.
Be our guest at the Teahouse! The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from peers and experienced editors. I hope to see you there! Theopolisme (I'm a Teahouse host)

This page has made a rather confusing series of moves. I have tidied them up and put it into a sub-page in your user space at the title above. There is a "Submit the page!" link at the top which you can use to send it to WP:Articles for creation when it is ready.

You are not the only person to find the "Move" interface confusing.

  • If you want to publish a page (move it into the main encyclopedia) you need to select "(Article)" from the drop-down list on the left, and put the article title in the box on the right.
  • To move a page into your user space, select "User" from the drop-down list on the left, and then put just "PrincessAlice13/Article title", not "User:Princess Alice13/Article title", in the box on the right.
  • To send a page to "Articles for creation", it is simplest to use the "Submit the page!" link in the box at the top of a userspace draft; then a bot will do the necessary move for you. The format of an AfC page is "Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Page name" - confusing again, but there is a reason they are on talk pages, to allow IP users to create them, who can create talk pages but not other pages.

Reference Help

I edited the article Prince Aymeric of Belgium, but two of my references are from blogs. Are these reliable sources and should I remove the information? Thanks for your help and answers!

Blogs are not normally considered reliable sources on Wikipedia, per our policy: Wikipedia:Reliable sources. However, sometimes they may be the only reference material available, so judgement should be exercised in their use. It is sometime acceptable to cite blogs to verify simple facts, if no more suitable references can be found. There is no reason to remove your edits unless another editor disagrees with them. Hope that helps. Pol430 talk to me 22:50, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that helped, many thanks! :) --PrincessAlice13 (talk) 23:09, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Someone has edited Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (b. 2003)

Someone has been editing my page of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (b. 2003). They have added a link to the Portuguese page about the Bourbon- Two Siciles Royal Family at the bottom of the Titles section. They have also deleted the categories from the category bar at the bottom of the page and moved them to the actual page. They have also removed the review request. Can others edit user's work in progress pages??

Hey PrincessAlice13 :) I have restored the categories and the AFC submission link removed by two different IP's. Regarding the page name, User:France3470 had moved it to an appropriate title which is the right location for AFC submissions. It is not in your user subpage anymore, and of course everyone is invited to contribute and help Wikipedia! Feel free to ask me any other questions if you need any more help :) Regards. TheGeneralUser (talk) 00:12, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very, very much! (and Merry Christmas!) :) I did not realise that IP users had edited this page. And thanks to France3470 for moving the page into the appropriate title! Once again, thanks! :) PrincessAlice13 (talk) 00:36, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Well thanks a lot for your love, kindness and gratitude :) Wikipedia always need more positive good faith contributors like you so that the project becomes better than ever! On another note, you seem to be a very fast learning Wikipedian having learned about basic editing quickly and that's good ;). Also there seems to be this userbox formatting and other minor issues on my user page which have always lasted since it began, so feel free to edit and correct them because I know you can :) Good luck and see you around! TheGeneralUser (talk) 20:34, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Re:Userbox editing Question

Hey Alice :) Yes i was thinking if the user boxes could be formatted in a same single line, just like you have on your user page but along the other user page text (i.e. side by side). See if you can do this, otherwise I'll try to get help regarding this from another place if needed. Also here is my second editor review Wikipedia:Editor review/TheGeneralUser (2) which is soon about to close when I believe it's time to, so feel free to comment and give your true and honest review :-) Regards and Happy Editing! TheGeneralUser (talk) 22:00, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for clarifying! I'll see what I can do! :) PrincessAlice13 (talk) 23:25, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
  • A helpful Tip for you-You can always sign your talk page messages as soon as you write them (in the same edit), which means that you don't need to make another edit just to sign them :) TheGeneralUser (talk) 23:47, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Hello TheGeneralUser! I think I have edited your user page correctly, take a look and see if it's right! :) --PrincessAlice13 (talk) 13:06, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Belated Happy New Year with a Toast!

float

Here's a toast to the host
Of those who edit wiki near and far,
To a friend we send a message, "keep the data up to par".
We drink to those who wrote a lot of prose,
And then they whacked a vandal several dozen blows.
A toast to the host of those who boast, the Wikipedians!

It went very well, thanks! :)

And yes, I do have a question- I edited my user page, but it still looks like the previous version when I don't log in. Can you see my new edits? If not, could you tell me how I can fix this? Thanks, enjoy tomorrow! :) --PrincessAlice13 (talk) 22:13, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

You're right, that is an issue which even i and many other users have been experiencing for the past some days. It's actually a technical issue and the Wikimedia developers have been trying their best to solve it as soon as possible. You can find more information at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Users reporting site time issues and delay in visible update of edits where many other editors have expressed similar concerns. In the meantime whether you are logged in or not you can try purging any page's cache which you believe is displaying outdated, just enter ?action=purge at the end of the webpage link and click go or press enter and the page should be cleared out :) Hope I've helped, and do let me know if you need any other help. ~TheGeneralUser (talk) 12:30, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I see, thank you that was very helpful :). --PrincessAlice13 (talk) 16:29, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I recently came across this article Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and it instantly reminded me of you! Although I haven't read the full novel, I've seen some of the television shows and this movie Alice in Wonderland (2010 film) both of which were good. Thought you might like reading about it :) ~TheGeneralUser (talk) 23:32, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Haha, I've got an old edition of the book which I have read. :) Thanks for the article link by the way, I'm working on something to do with Alice in Wonderland and the article has come in handy! PrincessAlice13 (talk) 23:40, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Some Tea

Just stopping by to share some tea! This will hopefully re-energize you and remove your stress when you edit a lot :) Cheers. -TheGeneralUser (talk) 22:07, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, TheGeneralUser! Tea just happens to be my favourite drink, so this was much appreciated! :)

I've been wondering how to create the talk archives that I see other Wikipedians use (I would like to put this talk page in an archive and start with a fresh one as it's quite long now and is almost a couple of years old.) Is it possible if you could help me out? Thanks for your time. PrincessAlice13 (talk) 19:03, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

  • Sure, I'm always happy to help :) There are many ways in which you can archive your user talk page which include automatic (done by a bot) and manual (done by self) ways. As you can see from my user talk page, mine is manual. There are many methods by which you can do it, the most common being by using numbered or monthly/yearly archive. I wouldn't prefer the monthly one since the amount of discussions vary from time to time and you'll have to unnecessarily create them for every month regardless of how many discussions have taken place during a particular month. Yearly is fine but it can get too long. So, I suggest the numbered way in which it's up to you how many discussions you want to have in each one. For example, see mine User talk:TheGeneralUser/Archive 1 and User talk:TheGeneralUser/Archive 2. In the same way you can create yours at User talk:PrincessAlice13/Archive 1, User talk:PrincessAlice13/Archive 2 and so on and add all the discussions from your talk page history which you want by copying and pasting them. And to easily access them just add {{Archives}} template anywhere on your talk page, it will then automatically link all your talk page archives which have been created in the template itself. Hope that helps :) You can also find more information at Help:Archiving a talk page. Feel free to ping me if you need any additional help. Regards. -TheGeneralUser (talk) 19:46, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, TheGeneralUser! That was very helpful. Would I just copy and paste this archive into Archive 1? I've just done this now. :) (Apologies about the delay in response - I'm currently recovering from a cold/sore throat.) PrincessAlice13 (talk) 22:00, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
