Edits to Jesus articles edit

Hello, Prettyfawn, my name is Eggishorn and I wanted to take an opportunity to explain why some of your requests and edits have been changed. In the article Jesus (disambiguation) you've now twice changed "son" to "Son" and added a statement about Jesus's birth place. You've also requested that his birth place be changed on the talk page of the Jesus article.

Apparently this is because you were told by Siri that Jesus is from Nazareth. Please be aware that Wikipedia has no control over how Siri, Google, or any other third-party application or source uses our information. They will pull from many web sources and often only identify one of them.

Actually, stating Jesus is "from Nazareth" is canonically accurate: "At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." Mark 1:9. "Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene." Matthew 2:22-23

You may also want to read this policy statement. Wikipedia will endeavor to describe religious beliefs accurately and respectfully but will not be bound to any denomination's interpretations. Preferring to refer to Jesus as "Christ Jesus", for example, is a denominational preference and not even universally shared by Christians.

I hope this helps explain things. Once again, welcome to Wikipedia and I hope you stick around to contribute. This is a great place to start and get up to speed with the most important policies around here. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:02, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Thank you, Eggishorn, for explaining. I just want you to put or add Bethlehem as Jesus’ birthplace as evidenced by Luke 2 in the New Testament. I think its important. I also understand it’s true that Nazareth is Christ’s hometown; I’m not arguing that. But Christ’s birthplace was Bethlehem because He is of the lineage of King David.

Thank you for the cookies. They look yummy! Prettyfawn (talk) 07:10, 2 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

You're more than welcome, @Prettyfawn:. If you take another look at the Jesus article, you'll see not only is Bethlehem given as his birthplace under the "Genealogy and Nativity section," but also that the Davidian heritage is already included: "Matthew and Luke each offer a genealogy of Jesus. Matthew traces Jesus' ancestry to Abraham through David. Luke traces Jesus' ancestry through Adam to God. The lists are identical between Abraham and David, but differ radically from that point." We also have a separate articles on the Genealogy of Jesus and on the Nativity of Jesus. I invite you to read those three articles. Good luck.
