Hello, I'm I dream of horses. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Governor of Alabama, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 19:54, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Marbais and Lasnier

edit

Hi, I'm Rojas.jorge96. Presentime, thanks for creating Marbais and Lasnier!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hello! Your citations should be under a References section, not Sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Rojas.jorge96 (talk) 17:41, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

You're wrong, what you have created is worse than nothing, it is little better than nonsensical gibberish. Please follow the instructions at WP:TRANSLATION in the future if you are unable to translate something properly yourself--Jac16888 Talk 21:22, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to second what Jac16888 said above, but expand on it a little, after working on that article. Simply copying machine translated text into Wikipedia is never helpful, even if you add Wikilinks and categories to it, because it's hard to understand and usually inaccurate - in addition to sometimes simply guessing wrong, Google Translate and the rest omit words (such as "not"!), can't recognize proper names and try to translate them, and usually reproduce compound words and many words with suffixes untranslated. In addition, they are terrible at any but the most commonly studied languages - of which Finnish is definitely not one. To make use of machine translation (other than checking what a foreign-language source says regarding a piece of information you already have - for example in the river article I confirmed using machine translation that 2 sources give conflicting basin areas), choose text in a language where the program is likely to be relatively good (the German Wikipedia article comes out much clearer in this case than the Finnish one you used) and instead of uploading it, read it carefully for information and summarize that information in the article (using any references that may be present and that you are able to check). That will yield a stub or a short paragraph that can be expanded by someone who can read relevant language(s) and/or by using it as the basis of a search for sources (note that I did find sources on this river in English, but the mention of, for example, "salmon" in the machine translation gave me ideas for search words). So that's how to do it next time, either within an article or to create a new one. Yngvadottir (talk) 10:07, 8 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
