Request reason:
I agree with all the editing criticisms that resulted in my blocking, and am chagrined at my recent run of sloppiness. #1 I agree that I too liberally used unattributed language in the following edit: September 8, 2008 - Chora District Governor and tribal leader Rozi Khan Barekzai was among a number of people killed when an Australian patrol became involved in a firefight. In a 2011 interview on Australian television, the son of Rozi Khan (the first democratically elected leader of Uruzgan province) said his father's death had encouraged many to join the insurgency. ?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-00000003-QINU?1?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-00000004-QINU? ?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-00000006-QINU?2?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-00000007-QINU? The summary could have been much shorter in any event. #2 I agree that I used an obviously unreliable source, as follows: *December 11, 2010 - At least 8 Afghan Civilians were killed in an ISAF Airstrike in Zermatt in Paktia province. Jets attacked in an area where some Afghan workers were working on road construction. ?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-00000009-QINU?3?UNIQ43bfa6d57d663789-nowiki-0000000A-QINU? Quite frankly, I just missed the fact that it was a blog and not a recognized news source. I shall not repeat this error. #3 I admit I improperly inserted a POV in the following edit: August 26. 2011 - Six Afghani civilians (all members of the same family) were the recipients of enduring freedom from an ISAF air strike in the Baraki Barak district of Logar province according to a local official. I apologize for this. A non-POV edit is very simple to implement. #4 I used an incorrect citation for an event dated August 8, 2011. The incorrect citation was inadvertently copied from the penultimate page of my search (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/08/us-afghanistan-violence-idUSTRE7750UW20110808) The correct citation is: http://www.reuters.com/article/video/idUSTRE7750UW20110808?videoId=218070479 and is a video report. #5 I admit that I used an incorrect citation as follows: http://www.pajhwok.com/en/2011/08/21/3-killed-13-injured-paktia-kunar-incidents I do not understand what happened to the link to make the citation invalid, and I was aware that an editor had posted a "dead link" notice next to the entry. Pajhwok Afghan News is a good site for reporting casualties that the larger press organizations do not cover, so my plan was to try to figure out what had happened to the original story. Normally I cross verify if I can when a larger news organization runs the same story. However, I simply got busy getting the kids ready for school the past week, and I should have just deleted the event. In the future if a link becomes dead I would plan to keep a separate "tickler" file in a word document rather than keep the dead link up, so I can investigate it when I have time. I apologize for the inconvenience I have caused. Ppmet1949 (talk) 12:43, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that response. I think that you appreciate what was wrong with your edits, so I'll unblock you. However, please be careful with what you add to articles. I'd also like to encourage you to edit a wider range of articles. Nick-D (talk) 22:09, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Civilian casualties in the War in Afghanistan
editThere's a discussion at Talk:Civilian casualties in the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) that largely concerns editing work you have done, if you would like to add your thoughts. Formats (talk) 06:48, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
