"Don Cantwell" is not a character in the play of Gore Vidal's "The Best Man." He appears only in the 1964 film version. This film was made after the death of JFK, yet its parallels between between Cantwell and Kennedy are more explicit than in the play. This undermined the claim that Vidal backed away from the Kennedy comparison after the deaths of the Kennedy brothers. In the introduction to the published version of the play, and in the Twayne publications biography of Vidal, the unseen character of Governor Merwin is discussed as a potential JFK stand-in.

To what original research are you referring? As I recall I simply corrected an error of fact on the Quebec sovereignty page.

Thanks for your comment on my talk page. There has been a lengthy discussion about the whole Breedlove issue for a while. Please read both the most recent discussion and the extensive archived discussion before putting the name back. Then I suggest reopening the discussion on the talk page. You will see that I have already advocated for the same position you are stating, but we need to reach a new consensus before changing the article due to the history. Thanks! --Esprqii (talk) 17:59, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
