Speedy deletion of Image:Hydrogen Density Plots.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Hydrogen Density Plots.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Hydrogen Density Plots.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Beautiful hydrogen wavefunction picture! edit

Kudos. --Steve (talk) 03:30, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

...BTW, why did you decide not to put in the ground state? --Steve (talk) 03:48, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, in ground state it's just a blob without any quantum in it (sic). Do you really think I should add it? I have two books with same density plots in them, and they both start at (2,0,0). PoorLeno (talk) 10:38, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, that makes sense. --Steve (talk) 17:37, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. I just created a Wikipedia account to ask you this question. How do you generate the color spectrum you have used in the plot? I would like to use that color scheme in some of my own work. --Dulrich15 (talk) 21:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Depiction from File:Hydrogen Density Plots.png edit

This plot is a bit misleading and should be corrected. The plot is obviously a probability distribution (as subtitled) not a wave-function plot as titled. Title and Subtitles should be reversed. Furthermore, the gradient bar ranging from minus (-) to positive (+) is very misleading and confusing. A probability cannot be negative. It appears the intended range is zero (0) to one (1) [from black through violet, orange, and yellow to white]. It's a very nice depiction that is just in need of a little polishing. As it stands it's misleading students who stumble onto this page. Pnictogen (talk) 16:04, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, in my experience it's very hard not to confuse students to begin with, although I do agree there's room for improvement. Thank you for your feed back. I'll look into it. PoorLeno (talk) 10:59, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 22:21, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hydrogen_Density_Plots.png equation edit

Shouldn't the 2n[(n+l)!] term in the radial function be 2n[(n+l)!]3? Here are at least two sources showing this to be the case:

RE- Talk:Polonium - section Trivia : Exam edit

You made an entry there in 2006. Could you go back and add more information - Such as "1 st russian ex-spies" - what did you mean by "st"? - or should it be run together to be 1st? Add the type of class you did this for to this entry. been a while, do you now think that was unique to that professor/ class / university, or do you realize same question used at other universities. Thanks in advance Wfoj3 (talk) 15:58, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

nice plots. I modified one to use in my theory "Progressive Gravitational Ripple[1]." If there is a problem with this please let me know. --Ken Morcom (talk) 03:51, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
