Your username edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. This is a message to let you know that your username, "PolyEastRecords", may not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. Please note that the following types of usernames are prohibited:

  • Promotional usernames: Those which match the name of a company, organization, group, website or product (e.g. "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", "Foobar Museum of Art"). However, you are allowed to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally (e.g. "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "FoobarFan87").
  • Usernames implying shared use: Those which directly imply shared access between people (e.g. "Jack and Jill's Account"), or match names of posts within groups or organizations (e.g. "Secretary of the XY Foundation").
  • Misleading usernames: Those which contain suffixes like "bot" or "script" and imply an account is that of an automated bot when it is not, or titles like "admin" or "sysop" (implying a position of authority), or match names of living people that you are not, such as famous living people. If you are a famous person editing under your real name and your account is blocked from editing, please note that this is not to discourage you from editing, but rather to prevent any potentially damaging impersonation of you.
  • Offensive and disruptive usernames: Those which contain words or phrases that are likely to offend other contributors, directly threaten or attack another person or some entity, contain contentious material about living persons, or otherwise imply you do not intend to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia (e.g. "JohnIsAJerk", "WannabeWikipediaVandal").

For more information, see Wikipedia's username policy.

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, website, person or other entity, nor do we tolerate any other 'bad faith' editing such as trolling or other disruptive behavior, regardless of your username. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. If you do not understand which part of the policy your username may be violating, please don't hesitate to ask. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Greyjoy talk 07:37, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 11:09, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have made a mistake in choosing my username. I do not represent a group or any organization. Is it possible that I make a new account or a new username? ~

Of course. Replace "Your proposed new username" above; be sure to read WP:Username policy first before you do; an admin should be by after you pick what you want your new username to be. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 03:31, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused. First, you are not hard blocked. That means you are free to register a new username. You did so: User:Polymetv. Second, you registered a username that is a company and then, using this (PolyEastRecords) username, created drafts for artists signed to that label. Why would you choose a username that is a company? I find it hard to believe that you do not represent Poly East Records and are here to write about your artists. Please just tell us what is going on here, okay? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:34, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Also, there is Purplexfishie who just registered and immediately found and started working on your draft Draft:Sassa Dagdag. Is that you or someone else in the company or what? Please help clear this up. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:38, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry I'm confused. I'm new to Wikipedia.
But you've made usernames before, right? Like email and Facebook? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:11, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is new to me and I wasn't aware of the username policy or if there was a link before I made one, I overlooked it. Which I know is a mistake. I apologize.

January 2018 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

I'm sorry. I asked you some pretty straightforward questions. You did not answer them. I think you are a paid editor and are hiding that fact. If you wish to be unblocked, please follow the instructions in the brown box above. Another administrator will decide. Request reason:

I'm apologizing for the mistake I made. I'm not a paid editor. Yes, I work at PolyEast Records and I thought of making a Wikipedia page for two of our artists. Since I overlooked the username policy, i thought that creating a username is just the same us setting a username up for Twitter or Instagram. When I got block in this username I thought of making another account but it seems that Wikipedia is really confusing for me. Is there any other way possible in which I can use my account again with different username and publish an article? Thank you very much. I hope you would understand.

You will not be unblocked until:

If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organisation, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets. Yunshui  09:11, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You registered an account named "PolyEastRecords", drafted two articles for "our" artists and wrote above "... I do not represent a group or any organization...". You do. You represent Poly East Records and I think making those drafts is part of your job. You also have not told us whether or not Purplexfishie is you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:42, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello. That's why I was apologizing for the mistake I made. Yes, I am Purplexfishie. I'm really sorry.

No need to apologize for any mistake. I gather you have a boss behind you telling you to make articles for your talent. You were doing your best to avoid direct question. That has nothing to do with being new or not understanding Wikipedia. You deliberately did not answer my questions.
I'll leave this for another admin to review. My guess is that they will read this as a paid editor with a conflict of interest who is here to promote and who avoids saying they're here as part of their job. I'm not hopeful about your chances of getting unblocked. I suggest you tell your boss all of this, and that if the talent is notable enough, someone else unrelated to you and your company will eventually make the article.
Good luck in your endeavors. This is in another admin's hands now. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:52, 25 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
