The word "wiki" edit

If you read the article Wiki you'll learn more about what a "wiki" is. Wikipedia runs on wiki software, but it is an encyclopedia and encyclopedias have articles, which is what we call them. I only mention this as new users often misunderstand this and it's important to learn the language used here. The main thing of course is to remember that this really is an encyclopedia, and its articles are meant to be based on what reliable sources as discussed at WP:RS and WP:VERIFY say about a subject. Not our own ideas, knowledge, or even experience. Using them is original experience and not allowed. Doug Weller talk 11:41, 2 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
