October 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Budgerigar has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\byoutube\.com' (link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1_LtT7Arv8) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image or a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! A brief note to let you know that your addition of links to parrot related pages currently is being discussed here. I can only urge you to read WP:External links and add a comment in the previously mentioned discussion, as you otherwise risk having your work reverted. • Rabo³ • 19:29, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

User page edit

It would be good if you would provide a little information about yourself (not too much) on your talk page. Have a look at others user pages to see what sort of things people say. A user page is not a home page, it is a page that belongs to the wiki for other users to learn a little about you. Are you associated with the world parrot trust? The links you've been adding recently... edit

Hi Pippirosie. With regards to the World Parrot Trust links that you've been adding to our parrot articles over the past few days, it would be very helpful if you could come over and join in with the discussion currently taking place here on this subject. Thanks. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 23:27, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Discussion edit

There had been some discussion about external links at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds#World_Parrot_Trust_Parrot_Encyclopedia. Did you see your invitation above to participate? Are Pippi and Rosie names of parrots? Snowman (talk) 21:47, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah, looks like we have a new user who was lost in confusion. Although I reverted all of the contributions of Pippirosie, I posted to the discussion and somebody else with rollback can revert my reverts if they decide to keep the links. Removing my final warning about linkspam from this page too. Also adding a welcome template below this. --GraemeL (talk) 22:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
