Ottawa NCR population

edit

Hey, I see that you added the NCR population to the infobox. The consensus at the Canadian noticeboard was that the infoboxes can only have national census data (furthermore, I can't find a ref for the NCR pop), so I undid your edit. If you want to re-add the NCR population, feel free to stick it in the intro, with an appropriate description and ref. Of course, I'm open to discussion on the matter (either here, at Talk:Ottawa, at my talk, or at Wikipedia_talk:Canadian_Wikipedians'_notice_board#Calgary.2FOttawa_population_updates). Cheers, -M.Nelson (talk) 16:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good point; I never noticed that Toronto used stats like that. Since the NCR number is so different, it is quite notable to include, but it still doesn't go by StatsCan census. If I had it my way, I would have Toronto list only the StatsCan census stats in the infobox, just as Ottawa currently has, but that might take a bit of discussion. I'll make a note about it at the Canadian noticeboard; both articles should either give all information (incl NCR, Golden Horseshoe, etc) or none of it (only StatsCan census), or there should be a good reason for the discrepancy. For the time being, feel free to add it (referenced and NPOV) in the article's text. -M.Nelson (talk) 16:21, 10 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
