Welcome!

edit

Hello, Philipwinters1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Tyrant (Michigan band), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! please read [1] for conflict of interest before editing dyslexia any further, thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 14:36, 18 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Ozzie10aaaa, I am not sure why the COI on an unrelated article matters for the Dyslexia article. Please let me know how to remedy this.

Thank you! Philipwinters1

Inserted a rewritten paragraph from John Howell, PhD. John Howell SUBMITTED BY: John C. Howell, PhD, F/AOGPE Consultant, Michigan Dyslexia Institute Prof. Emeritus, Michigan State University ...was placed on edit summary of [2] your indicating you acted of this individuals behalf? (thats COI)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 21:36, 18 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Ozzie10aaaa, that is correct! Is that permissible?

Isn't this just a case of Philipwinters1 happening to have a friend who knows more about dyslexia than he does? The edits seemed reasonable to me. The phrase about "60 years", giving the time for which a particular misconception prevailed, seemed particularly helpful (and brief). In the end, each editor needs to take personal responsibility for his edits & not pass them off by citing the source-friend. If anything, ask your friend for a citation. Is there a Wikipedia policy: please don't mention that you happen to have intelligent, competent friends? Vagabond nanoda (talk) 17:39, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Vagabond nanoda Should I resubmit with correct citation from John? The reason I am submitting edits on his behalf is that he is 92 years old and not the most tech-savvy person.

JchPHD58, why are you on your third account on Dr. Howell's behalf?

edit

Having multiple accounts for the purpose of deception is not allowed on Wikipedia, and will result in account blocking per WP:SOCK.

The problem with your edits on behalf of Dr. Howell is that you are following Howell's directives rather than doing your own research and improving an article. Usurping the place of Kussmaul in favor of Berlin, who came later, and citing a teacher training book which may be in error, rather than an academic paper or book, is simply the wrong way to edit Wikipedia.

If you wish to make a substantial factual change to an article which is currently adequately supported by reliable sources, you are compelled to first discuss the change with other editors on the article's WP:TALK page. Please read WP:5 for foundational principles of Wikipedia, and back off from editing Wikipedia for the wrong reasons.--Quisqualis (talk) 22:46, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
