West Papua edits edit

Hi, I reverted the part of your edit that referred to population changes for a couple of reasons.

  • "Transmigration from Indonesia is the main cause of the inflation of the Asiatic population." : This is uncited, and in any case, in a legal sense, Papua and West Papua provinces are part of Indonesia. Strictly speaking, "Indonesia" could be replaced by "Java and Sulawesi" - with suitable references. Incidentally, many transmigrants have been in West Papua long enough to raise families, increasing the proportion of non-ethnic Papuans.
  • ..."the population growth of the Melanesian population has been slowed by over half a century of genocidal policies from the Indonesian state apparatus.": Leaving aside the problems with the use of the term "genocidal", this is also uncited in the absence of separate population figures for ethnic Papuans. Also, "genocidal policies" is contentious - apart from direct killings by the Indonesian security forces, there is also the lack of spending on primary healthcare and on education. Perhaps these should be included - assuming references could be found.

Obviously the subjects covered by your edits are important and notable, but without citations, they shouldn't be in Wikipedia. Regards Davidelit (Talk) 08:30, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

October 2017 edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
