Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page James Fridman has been reverted.
Your edit here to James Fridman was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://twitter.com/fjamie013) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 18:09, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Philharris2021. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page James Fridman, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 19:14, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tacyarg
Thank you for outlining the rules, I must admit I am not an experienced contributor. As of the COI - I have no relation to James Fridman nor do I know him personally. I just happen to be one of his admirers way back from his first post on Twitter.
I do follow James on social media therefore I am aware of all the collabs and partnerships, sine they're all in public domain. The current (undone) version of his Wiki Page seems outdated, not refined, and lacks an elaborated description on his work.
I have also added a link to James Fridmans wiki page from other Wiki article to remove the orphan article banner.
Guess it's only fair for the Wiki article to stay current, regularly updated and be more descriptive. Not sure why did you remove the latest news article and collaborations.
Please see below:
avoid editing or creating articles about yourself - I am not James Fridman and not related to him in any way.
propose changes on the talk pages - guess all the above said should work as a proposition for a change
disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles - see above
avoid linking to your organization's website - there is not a single link beyond those mentioned in the article that serve as a reference
do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies - I hope I do :)
Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. - I don't get paid for updating articles on Wikipedia.
editing for the purpose of advertising - I'm sure James Fridman is very well known for this to be some low-scale advertisment.
Hope this helps! Philharris2021 (talk) 19:55, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks for confirming that you don't have a conflict of interest. I would remove my post about it, but that would lose your reply, which I don't want to do. As an editor who is not linked to Fridman, you are very welcome to continue editing the article. I did see your note about de-orphaning; thanks for that. Please make sure though that everything you add is referenced to a reliable source (the Daily Mail is not considered reliable) and is neutral in tone - so not "renowned for his unique approach", unless you are quoting a source which says that. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 20:38, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Tacyarg,
Great, thanks for the help, much appreciated! Philharris2021 (talk) 20:57, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, please watch out for non-neutral language. I have removed "James Fridman has carved out a unique niche in the realm of digital art and social media culture. His impact extends beyond the realm of graphic design, inspiring ... " as unsourced and non-neutral. Tacyarg (talk) 07:20, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey!,
No problem, thanks for correcting! In the meantime, could you please briefly explain how to fix this warning message: If notability cannot be shown, the article is likely to be merged, redirected, or deleted. Philharris2021 (talk) 14:27, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
