Request for copy of a deleted page — RMM Software

Hey Phil, would you mind providing me with a copy of the somewhat-recently-deleted page RMM Software? As someone who works with such tools, I'd like to opportunity to review the old article and recreate the page with a more Neutral Point of View. Best, Interference 541 (talk) 06:03, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi there Interference 541 and thanks for the message. While Wikipedia's deletion policy allows for the restoration of speedily deleted articles, it excludes those that have been the subject of a previous Afd discussion. In cases like these, deletion review is required. For what it's worth, having looked at the article it is nothing more than a puff piece for a particular RMM company, which is inadequately sourced. I'd recommend you start from scratch if you want an article on this topic. Best,  Philg88 talk 07:05, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply Phil, I couldn't remember what was on the page since I last visited it but I understand the benefit of starting from scratch. I appreciate you looking into this though! Interference 541 (talk) 20:09, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 20:19, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Change to Le Nguyen Khang

Hi,

I am actually General Le Nguyen Khang's grand daughter and am very well aware that he passed away in California. I'm not quite sure where I can find a correct source for this but here is a book that also supports this (Although he did not pass away in Hope, California but under the care of the City of Hope Medical Center.) https://books.google.com/books?id=qh5lffww-KsC&pg=PA648&lpg=PA648&dq=le+nguyen+khang+death&source=bl&ots=jCDTC3ywUx&sig=_ZITEXoWiPNsNscMS_-dPkzQYYM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=HJtOVamPENb8oQS3zIDgCQ&ved=0CCYQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=le%20nguyen%20khang%20death&f=false — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.230.218 (talk) 23:44, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

@70.160.230.218:Hi there and thanks for the message. I don't doubt that you know where your grandfather died, but Wikipedia only goes by what reliable sources say. In this case the single source says Virginia, not California, so that is what the entry says. I've edited the page to reflect what your new source says. Please let me know if that's OK. Train from Guangdong to Hainan

Hello, my friend. Long time. Could you please tell me what the story is here:[1][2]?

Do we have an article on this? If not, I'd like to start it/them. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:37, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Indeed and I hope all is well with you. There has been a train service from Haikou's (West? Station) to Guangdong for yonks via the sea ferry, which is what I think is shown in the satellite images. I'm not 100% sure though, and you know as well as I do that the government is developing the island at the speed of a bullet train. I don't think that the new bridge will have a railway - just road, so it's not that. Sorry that I can't provide a definitive answer. Best,  Philg88 talk 04:45, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
All is well this end. I hope this thread finds you well.
Yes, I gather the same thing as you. It is the Guangdong-Hainan ferry terminal. A friend confirms this. I am just not sure why there are two sites. My guess is that people and cars get off at the port there, and the train cars come out and arrive a few hundred metres south at that station. There, people get out of the train cars and go wherever. As for the railway itself, I'm not even sure we have an article for that. It doesn't look like the high speed. I've seen it too. It looks like cargo, but I've never seen a train on the tracks. I might just have to head over there tomorrow with a camera and a list of questions, and find out for myself. Best. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:20, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Did you say bridge?? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:28, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Yes, a beast of a bridge across the Qionghai Strait due for completion in 2020 I believe. Now there's an article  . We also don't have an article for the Hainan—Guangdong Railway if one is merited.  Philg88 talk 05:42, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Is there a source that says they're actually for sure going to do it? Lots of old sources, but nothing new I can see. Also, there is Guangdong–Hainan Ferry, but no railway ariticle. I'd love to write the railway article. I heard it was build by the Japanese and is only used for cargo, but maybe no longer. I'll dig. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:12, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Dunno. I thought they started work a while ago but the project may have stalled as a result of the mainland economic slowdown. I'll try and find a Chinese source but don't hold your breath. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 06:20, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
I've never heard anything but plans and talk. Another stalled project is Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island. After the big typhoon is when I guess it all stopped. Nothing but rusty parts lying around. The bridge footings installed by the temporary rock road. A structure unfinished. Temp worker housing with a few guards and a pack of dogs. Nothing more. The site used to have a guard stopping people from entering at the west side of Evergreen Park. No more. Now one is free to walk down there. Fishermen (catching nothing of course) here and there along the temp stone road. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:43, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Odd. When I search this, the Chinese name for this island off Evergreen Park, it seems to show the round island under construction off the new and enormous [[Hainan Exhibition & Convention Center]. I will take photos of that soon and start that article. There is yet another artificial island near that. Not sure what that is about. Oh, and there is an oil rig or two several km out to sea north of Evergreen too. I guess they're drilling there. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:46, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Just want to express my appreciation for your protection of Mamasapano clash. The frequency of vandalism and POV pushing was indeed putting some undue stress on editors. Thanks for being proactive in your anti-vandalism efforts! Mamyles (talk) 17:26, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Follow-up

Okay, here is what I found out: [4] [5] [6]

So, we have articles on everything but the South Port, as it is officially called. But, I guess we don't need one, as the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry only has two ports, and the South Port is only used (as far as I know) for that ferry service.

I hope what I've added to those three articles makes sense. I have 68 images in the process of being uploaded. Do you think the railway station passenger notices are copyvios?

Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:25, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

And a couple more tidbits:

[7] [8] [9]

Lousy writing, but true! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:45, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Okay, I fixed it to make more sense. I got a bit fried in the sun today, and haven't been quite right in the head since. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:50, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

My my, you have been busy. There should be no copyvio issue with the notices as they are text without any attached intellectual property. For the sunstroke I recommend a large dose of Yanjing Beer. Best,  Philg88 talk 15:57, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Busy indeed. Thanks for the copyvio feedback and the beer recommendation. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

I need your brain

Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg
South Port (Hainan) - 05.JPG

I'm trying to figure out where Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg is. It is obviously an image of inside a ferry showing where the exiting trains go. I just took South Port (Hainan) - 05.JPG which shows the ferry where the train comes out. They do not match. So, it seems that Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg is not an image of South Port. It is also probably not the Guangdong port. However, the logo and colour of the train in Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg matches the South Port engine train that brings the train cars out of the ferry (File:Railway between Haikou Railway Station and South Port - 04.JPG). I'm stumped. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:03, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Looks to me like Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry.jpg was taken looking out of the ferry (hence the title). That also fits with the railway car. Not 100% sure but that's my best educated guess.  Philg88 talk
What is the Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry? A different line, or the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry? As far as I know, the only train one is the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. Also, all ferries cross the strait, so I still don't get it. Oh, and look a the huge yellow structure in the background. I don't see that on any map. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:45, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Qiongzhou Strait Train Ferry = Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. As for the yellow structure, either the map is out of date or the picture was taken at the Guangdong end.  Philg88 talk 05:55, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
I'd say the photo is out of date. I think this is an image of one of the sides of the strait and how it used to look or where it used to be. Oh well. Sorry to bug you with all of this. I guess it's a dead end. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:03, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, one teensy thing more: The ferry service is called the Guangdong–Hainan Ferry. I see the raiway continue up into Guangdong. So, what's the railway called? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:05, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

No problem with asking as many questions as you like, although there's no guarantee that I know the answers  . In Chinese, the railway is called the "Guangdong-Hainan Railway" (粤海铁路, yuè hǎi tiělù). If you have a look at the relevant Chinese article, you will see your mystery picture with the caption "Qiongzhou Strait Guangdong Railway ferry, taken in 2010", which indicates that it is from the Guangdong end. Maybe that article needs its own translation.  Philg88 talk 06:35, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah, the Guangdong side. Okay. I guess they've moved it somehow.

Final question: Should Guangdong–Hainan Ferry be moved to Guangdong–Hainan Railway? The commons cat used to be called the latter, but I changed it to match the enwp article. If the article is Guangdong–Hainan Railway, then it could have a section about the ferry and be expanded to include info about where it goes up north in Guangdong, including maybe the northern terminus, wherever that is.

Final final question: The 1km of track between the Haikou Railway Station and South Port, that is part of which railway? Ahhhhhh, this is the sort of deep question that keeps philosophers up at night. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Moving Guangdong–Hainan Ferry to Guangdong–Hainan Railway seems sensible, especially as it can then be Wikidata linked to the Chinese and Japanese versions, ditto the commonscat. As to the 1km of track to the South Port, I would include that in Guangdong–Hainan Railway for want of anywhere more appropriate. Hope that helps! Best,  Philg88 talk 06:02, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
All done! Thank you again for your kind patience. If I've done anything daft, or left anything undone, please say. All the best, my dear friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:39, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Comment: Hello  Philg88 , first of all I would like to thank you for all the edits done for polishing Kollam based articles and main page. No issues in polishing the pages. I would like to create a wiki Portal for Kollam, like the one about Portal:Chennai. Anyway go ahead... I offer my full support and contributions for your activities.

I would like to get your help to protect our Kollam page, as the page is facing continuous vandalism & unwanted disturbances. So I request you to do the needful to protect our Kollam page.

-- Thanks & regards, Arunvrparavur 9:58, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello my friend and thanks for the message. Creating a portal sounds like a good idea but at this stage, I don't think page protection is needed on Kollam. Like many articles on Indian topics, it attracts lots of new and enthusiastic users who don't realise that they can't just add information. If there is a sudden spate of deliberate vandalism then naturally I will do what is necessary. BTW, I did a quick search on Honey Benjamin and there appears to be sufficient coverage for her to warrant her own article. What do you think? Best,  Philg88 talk 11:24, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Yes Phil, enough coverage is there for Honey Benjamin as she is the current Mayor of Kollam Corporation. We can start an article for Mrs. Benjamin. Arunvrparavur 12:32, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
I'll leave that to you if you would like as you also have access to Malayam and other language sources that I can't read! Cheers,  Philg88 talk 11:36, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Move of contested articles

G'day Philg88, I don't understand why you moved the XXth Mounted Brigade (United Kingdom) articles, when at least two were opposed. They really shouldn't have been technical moves, they should have been RM'd. Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 06:52, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi there and thanks for your message. I opened a RM discussion on the 4th Brigade as a contested move. As for the others, AFAICS, there are no other articles of a smilar title and we don't have a policy of not moving articles because a similarly named topic may be created at some future point. Where there are multiple countries with the same brigade names the base name article should in most cases be a disambiguation page. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 07:01, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
Actually, we do. Per WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME, it was clear when you moved them that I had identified two of the brigades had Canadian counterparts. 2nd Mounted Brigade (United Kingdom) should have been retained at that title, and a dab page created for 2nd Mounted Brigade. The others may well be in the same boat. Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 07:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough – even admins do not know every single style guide backwards  . I'll move the page back and leave you to create the DAB. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 08:44, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Carpenter's glue revert

Curious about why the edit was reverted re: Carpenter's glue to carpenter's glue. Wikipedia’s MoS requires capitalization of trademarks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Trademarks); just following style guide. It's not a generic term, any more than Kleenex can be used interchangeably with facial tissue. Apfenn1 (talk) 14:53, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi Apfenn1 and thanks for the message. The reason is that the wikilink for carpenters glue is a pipe to white glue, not the trademarked product. There is no article for the trademarked product so MOS:TRADEMARKS doesn't apply.  Philg88 talk 16:30, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Lucknow native name

The infobox is allowed to contain two or more native names as it does for many cities such as Lahore, Faizabad, and Moradabad as most cities have more than one spoken and official language. The native language of Lucknow is in fact Urdu, and Urdu is also the official language of Lucknow. "Lucknow has Urdu as its official language while Hindi is another of it's major languages".

Yes, but not in the same field surely? Sitush, thoughts?  Philg88 talk 20:44, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
I'm afraid this native naming thing is a complete mess. Yes, the consensus of the India Project is that native names can be shown for places provided that the scripts used are restricted to those which are the official language(s) of the place. In some situations, this can mean four or five scripts being deployed (India has around 28 official languages in total). To the best of my knowledge, no-one has ever raised the issue of how they are displayed when there are multiple scripts.
I've not checked the links provided above but, assuming that they are correct, only Urdu should be shown in this instance. That Hindi is a major language would be irrelevant unless it is also an official one. - Sitush (talk) 08:19, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
@Sitush: I stumbled across this when checking Sher-e-Hindostan's edits, and checked the links: neither of the sites they link to claim to be, or has anything that even hints at them being, an official site for the city of Lucknow, they're just sites promoting business and tourism in Lucknow (with a "Yellow Pages" directory etc), and thus cannot be used as references for official languages in Lucknow. Which is Sher-e-Hindostan's, and the IP's they previously used, typical MO: POV-pushing with no sources or fake sources. The person behind Sher-e-Hindostan (an account that was created on 10 May 2015, right after I had had a brief conversation with IP 174.119.132.255 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) about similar edits on Delhi; check the IP's contributions and compare them to Sher-e-Hindostan's edits: a clear case of WP:DUCK), has being doing this kind of POV-pushing (promoting Punjabi and Urdu) for years from Canadian IPs, for which they have been blocked a number of times as various IPs. Thomas.W talk 08:22, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Good work, Thomas.W. I have protected Lucknow for now and will monitor the situation. If Sher-e-hindostan's behavior continues then a block will inevitably result.  Philg88 talk 08:50, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Would you take a look at Vanished user oinwn4toindcin23rjnsd (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)? It's a clear case of WP:Duck too, making the exact same kind of edits, including adding Urdu with a fake reference, and at the same time removing the reference for Hindi as official language of Uttar Pradesh. I would like to know what their previous real username was, but I guess I can't be told that. By continuing to make clearly disruptive edits, using the courtesy vanishing to evade scrutiny, they clearly violate the terms of Wikipedia:Courtesy_vanishing, and deserve a block for that alone... Thomas.W talk 09:38, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Never mind the name, I found it in the talk page history: Zaketo, a blocked sock master. And I got the timetable wrong, he hasn't edited as that user since being granted courtesy vanishing. Thomas.W talk 09:40, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
@Thomas.W: Are you planning to open an SPI for Sher-e-hindostan and the IP? Cheers,  Philg88 talk 14:29, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
No. My latest experience with SPI has put me off from using their services again. Thomas.W talk 14:34, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for not responding earlier. It seems like you have sorted it all out for now, although I am concerned to see Zaketo mentioned above. I didn't get your ping, Thomas.W, and have no idea if you'll get this one! - Sitush (talk) 20:46, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Wikimedia as a reliable source??

Ok, I know that nothing Wiki can be regarded as reliable sources, but... Tinkering with Jean Paul Gaultier I came across a red link to a Swedish museum so I translated the article and fixed it up a bit. When I looked through its Commons category, I saw that the museum was involved with the WP something I thought could be worth mentioning. But that would mean using the Swe Wikimedia as source [10], [11]. Can I do that? In this case. Or... ? Also 'ping' Peter Isotalo (should he take a break from his Wikibreak) while I'm at it, since there are indications that he was at the event, and perhaps would like to add something to the article. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 23:57, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Alas kompis, all language versions of Wikipedia (including commons, i.e. Wikimedia or WMF) are considered unreliable because they are crowd sourced. You can of course use a Swedish source, but you already knew that. Sorry! Best,  Philg88 talk 04:19, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Ok, bad sources removed. I had to try... ;) w.carter-Talk 08:50, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

@Vin09: I'm not sure what you want me to do here. JayB91 is a new editor who is perhaps not fully familiar with the guidelines for editing Wikipedia. Ya I saw his edits, also I had placed it in his talk page. He is working fine, just I wanted you to check as the title suggests Metro area, so we need to prefer area or population as first preference in ranking the table?--Vin09 (talk) 06:42, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
I don't know the answer to that or whether it actually matters. If you feel strongly about it, I suggest you start a discussion on the the article's talk page oor somewhere central such as Wikiproject India. Best,  Philg88 talk 06:47, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Intervention needed, else it might lead to a misunderstanding with the other user. Though I've mentioned clearly in the talk page. The user is not able to understand at Talk:List_of_metropolitan_areas_in_India#AP_Urban_area. Whatever is right as far as you know please comment there. @Vin09: I'm not sure what "intervention" you require. This is a content dispute that should be resolved through discussion-if that can't be achieved it should be taken to the dispute resolution noticeboard. ISP template using dead tool server

I noticed you edited {{ISP}} and wondered if you would be interested in fixing its use of the now dead toolserver - someone posted on the talk page about other templates using functioning tools. Sorry if this is inappropriate to mention on your talk page. Slivicon (talk) 20:57, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, Slivicon. No problem with leaving a message here but I'm not sure I can help. There don't currently appear to be any live WHOIS tools listed at WMF labs so I can't update the code. There are a number of third party (read commercial) sites that will do what's needed but I'm not happy to link one of them direct from a template. If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 05:33, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Name

Please check the name. List of revenue divisions in Andhra Pradesh, List of Revenue Divisions of Tamil Nadu. Revenue Division or revenue division, which one is correct?--Vin09 (talk) 05:48, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

@Vin09: The usage here is as a collective noun so it should be lowercase (i.e. "List of revenue divisions of Andhra Pradesh"). Some people might argue that "Revenue Division" is a proper noun but in this case it isn't. End of grammar lesson   Cheers,  Philg88 talk 06:04, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Are you the correct person to contact re free access to Scotlandspeople website? I am trying to trace my fiancé's mother — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juliebaillie (talkcontribs) 12:21, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi there Julie and thanks for the message. To gain free Wikipedia Library access to ScotlandsPeople you need to sign up at Wikipedia:ScotlandsPeople and satisfy the requisite criteria. Unfortunately, you don't have 1,000 edits to the encyclopedia so you don't qualify at the moment. Sorry!  Philg88 talk 13:03, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Boxer Rebellion Indemnity Scholarship Program to"Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program"

Hi again Philg88 -- as an administrator do you have (or could you tell me about) a magic wand to change "Boxer Rebellion Indemnity Scholarship Program" to "Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program" in a slew of articles? They didn't get changed when the article and the category were corrected to Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program?

The articles are listed here: Boxer Rebellion Indemnity Scholarship.

Cheers and many thanks in any case... ch (talk) 16:57, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi CWH and thanks for the message. No magic wand afraid—what you ideally need is someone with a bot who can make the requisite changes. Something in the dim recesses of my addled brain tells me that Ohconfucius may be able to help and if not he may know someone who can. If you need anything that needs admin permissions then please shout. Best,  Philg88 talk 18:13, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
THanks -- it's not a major problem, to be sure, but I'm glad for the advice. ch (talk) 19:20, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Clarification

I read a warning message. I want to understand why it has been left. I did not put any spam links or anything irrelevant on any page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Isloors (talkcontribs) 16:59, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

You need to read this guideline to understand the type of links that are appropriate for Wikipedia. In particular, links to commercial sites that aim to promote a business or carry advertising are considered spam and are removed on sight.  Philg88 talk 18:15, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

More strange things

Hello! Hope you have had a pleasant weekend. :) The Bulverket‎ is the latest in my series of articles about "Crazy and Strange Things the Vikings did on Gotland". Do you think you could give it a once-over c/e? I'm going to DYK it later. I would love to have that hilarious photo of the partially very sunburned Dr. von Post on the main page! :D Best, w.carter-Talk 21:24, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

A very interesting article, kompis, good work. I have applied some spit and polish, which has hopefully improved the structure and flow. Best,  Philg88 talk 06:26, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
On an entirely different note, there is also this. :) w.carter-Talk 10:28, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
No doubt someone will take care of it. May the force be with you    Philg88 talk 13:58, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Advice

Hi Phil -- I have been following an important article that I think needs major reworking. I want to summon the help of many editors by nominating it for Good Article and offering a large number of specific suggestions, so many, in fact, that they would swamp the TalkPAge. Would it be the best thing to make a userspace sandbox and post the link on the TalkPage? Or is swamping the TalkPage not a problem?

I do not want to be critical of the editor who has taken over the article, for there has been a great amount of energy put into it and the editor should be applauded and encouraged to keep up the good work but to follow Wikipedia guidelines.

Maybe I should create a userspace article with a neutral name for you and a few others to give advice on. Not sure the best way to proceed.

My larger purpose is to argue that Wikipedia has now reached the stage where there are many major articles that need basic work but that editors (such as me) are more tempted to create new articles than to work on old ones. So rather than simply jump in and get into disputes, I want to raise the issue and start a process (of course, the immediate purpose is to make the article acceptable).

Any thoughts? Thanks once again in any case. ch (talk) 16:51, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey ch, thanks for the message. I wouldn't worry about swamping the talk page—that's what it's there for—providing the conversation stays on the topic of article improvement and does not degenerate into a general chat. Starting a discussion/sandbox elsewhere will only fragment things and make the attribution trail harder to follow. Feel free to let me know if there is anything specifically content related that you'd like me to comment on. Best,  Philg88 talk 17:28, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
I'll keep you posted, as I think that you have a good overview and wide experience.ch (talk) 17:36, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Bulverket has been nominated for Did You Know

redirect

Hi there! Redtigerxyz posted an Uncontroversial Move for Uchchaihshravas, but it was not uncontroversial. I would request it be undone as it needs to be discussed at the Talk page; that was not the appropriate tag as I had moved the page due to Wikipedia guidelines on the romanisation of Sanskrit. Ogress smash! 21:30, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Ogress and thanks for the message. It's probably best if you post at the requested moves page in the "Requests to revert undiscussed moves" section, that way everyone can see what's happening. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 21:34, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Authentic map of languages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Hi sir, you are looking to me from my culture? Pakhtun? Am i right. if not its okay. The actual and authentic map of languages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (file link ) is under constant attack from the vandals of either punjab descent or Hinkown dirts, who replace it by a biased version of poor design and shape. Plz, if you have the power of restriction imposition, please retrain these vandals under your supervision in order to protect real information from biasness and corruption. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adilswati (talkcontribs) 15:27, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi there Adilswati and thanks for the message. I have protected the article for a month, which should stop the disruptive editing by IP editors. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 16:09, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Jr. titles

Hello - the comma RfC concluded with a result that commas are allowed. Would you please restore the comma to the Jr. and Sr. titles in your Archive 40? I'd appreciate it - thanks. Dohn joe (talk) 01:22, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi there Dohn joe. I see that the guideline now says "Editors may use or omit a comma before Jr. or Sr. so long as each article is internally consistent" That begs the question as to whether such a large number of page moves serves any useful encyclopedic purpose. Or am I missing something? Cheers,  Philg88 talk 08:06, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
The pages were moved under the mistaken impression that the moves were required under the MOS. Since discussion has shown that those moves were not required, this is just to put them at the previous status quo, under the general principle that edits should not be made to change from one accepted style to another. So this would just be reverting those unnecessary edits. Dohn joe (talk) 13:40, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
All done.  Philg88 talk 06:44, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks! Dohn joe (talk) 17:37, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

John Romita Jr.

Hi, Philg88. On 04:58, 10 June 2015‎, admin Anthony Appleyard restored John Romita Jr. to this longtime common name after an editor's undiscussed, unilateral move to a version with comma. The reason is that neither he nor his father, John Romita Sr., uses a comma in his name. John Romita Jr.'s own website spells his name without a comma, as do reference sources. I'm not sure why it was moved to a spelling that the subject himself does not use. Nor do references sources. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:32, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

OK, I see where from where the confusion stems, and allow me to apologize for that. It looks like John Romita Jr.'s article has been mislabeled for years as John Romita, Jr. even though the son does not use a comma on his official page. Nor do reference sources such as the Grand Comics Database here or the UHMCC here. So what is the procedure here? A move request? Or can an admin move it to the correct spelling as uncontroversial? --Tenebrae (talk) 21:55, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)User:Tenebrae: the problem here stems from dozens of undiscussed moves that one editor made and requested from the form "John Doe, Jr." to "John Doe Jr." It has since been determined that the use of commas in Jr. titles is optional. I (and apparently other editors) have been trying to put things back at the previous status quo for the affected articles. If you think that a particular name should or should not include a comma, it's probably best at this point to raise it at the talkpage. Dohn joe (talk) 23:51, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

@Tenebrae: I don't have a dog in this hunt. I just move things when asked to at WP:RMT, and on occasion move them back again when circumstances change. I'm not going to move the article again as we could end up going round in never-ending circles. I suggest that you post a move request on the page with the rationale you give above and let the process run for seven days. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 05:15, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Islands and islands

I have just started Furillen (not done yet). I'm not asking for a ce (the article is small, boring and unimportant), but I do have concerns about some wordings in the text. How do I correctly describe this island which is an island on the coast of another island? In some parts of the text I have to treat the larger island Gotland as a "mainland" beside the smaller island Furillen. Could you just check if I got it right or if I messed up horribly? Best, w.carter-Talk 09:09, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Another nice article kompis, well done. I couldn't resist a copyedit; it's an addict thing  .  Philg88 talk 10:25, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks!! You are too helpful for your own good. I had the phrase "... an island off the northeast coast ..." rattling around in the dark recesses of my brain, but was not sure if it was the right one to use. I should heed the "Trust your instincts, Luke." Is there a Copy Editors Anonymous you can join? (And I don't mean the Copy Editors Guild)   w.carter-Talk 10:48, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Co-op Pilot Results & Mentoring

Hey there! The Co-op has been on a hiatus for a bit, but we are planning on opening up shop again soon. When you're able, please read over and respond to this update on our talk page. We have favorable results from our final report regarding the pilot, and we are interested in seeing who is available to mentor when we reopen our space and begin to send out invites again. You gave me a message about an edit to Vernon BC page, I haven't made any edits, nor do I intend to.
