Tips

  • Wikipedia:User page for Userpage guide lines.
  • "History" tab shows edits for articles or user pages.
  • Some Wikipedians have great and colorful userpages - copy and paste, my friend, copy and paste!
    • Do make sure you'll change your own details of course.
  • On your userpage you can also link to other articles. Use [[article name here]].
    • So if you would want to link Final Fantasy X, do it like this: [[Final Fantasy X]]. The result: Final Fantasy X.
  • Instead of external links to Wikipedia, you can use internal.
  • You can add your own picture.

I hope this helps. Happy editing! --Soetermans | is listening | what he'd do now? 10:16, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

PlayStation Home

Thanks

Hi. Thanks for all your work on the PlayStation Home article. I just wanted to point out a couple of guidelines that you might not be aware of. Firstly, the use of many small sections is discouraged. You should try to combine the smaller sections into larger ones. For example, everything under The world of Home could be combined as could the HomeSpace and Clubhouses sections into Owned spaces. Also remember that headings in Wikipedia should use proper case, not title case. eg Additional Information should be Additional information. Finally, try to avoid language that makes the article sound like an advert. This is often a danger when gathering information directly from press releases as it's obviously worded to sound more exciting. You may want to reword things like "a connected world" and "the world of Home" which make it sound promotional. For more info, see WP:MOS, WP:VG/MOS and WP:POV. I didn't want to make these changes myself as you have obviously put a lot of work into it but I thought it would be worth mentioning. Oh, and one last thing, for the benefit of other editors, please try to combine multiple minor edits into large ones. It makes it a lot easier for others to track page changes. You can preview your edit as many times as you like before saving. I normally make one change, preview, make another, preview, etc before finally saving a whole bunch of changes. Thanks again. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 08:46, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I did put a lot of effort into it; but as I said in the PS Home talk page, I made it expandable, etc., so you can do the honours of editing it.
Some of the wording can be dodgy, I know, but sometimes there's no alternative.
I did my best to implement what you have suggested. Thanks Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 09:27, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Yep. I edited the Personal spaces section as a demonstration of what we should be going for with the other sections. I don't have time to do any more right now though. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 09:44, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Both that section and the Timeline of Beta trials section have been adapted into the recommendations. I hope it is to everyone's liking.Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 07:09, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I'm User:JDC808. I had edited some things on the Playstation Home page to make it correct and apparently you thought I was vandalizing it. What exactly was I vandalizing? I was putting correct names of places, like Home Square is actually called Central Plaza, trust me everything that I edited was right, maybe a little bit too wordy in areas but they were right for I use Home just about every day and know whats going on in the world of Home, I wouldn't put stuff on here that isn't correct or vandalizing.
Hey, sorry.. I was stupid to call it vandalism... I apologise and I look forward to working together with you in improving the article. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 03:52, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Peer Review

You hadn't listed Home in this list but I've added it now. I don't really like to review articles that I've worked on or that I watch a lot. I think they're most useful when the article gets looked-over by a fresh pair of eyes. In your request, you might want to state where on the assessment scale you're aiming for at the moment. I'd suggest C or B. You only need to add this on this page - this one will be automatically updated. Good luck. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 10:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

True, true. Not sure if the article will get a B Class rating, but I'm pretty confident it can get C Class. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 11:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Peer review

I recommend you request a "peer review" of the article. It may help to get feedback on it from someone who hasn't worked on it. A fresh pair of eyes always helps. You can find instructions on this page or I'll do it if you prefer. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 09:51, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the Barnstar =D, this is the first article which I've put a lot of effort into, (note the first part), I'm quite shaky with this, I think you should do it. Thanks for helping along the way, and adding critical moderation. I'm not quite so sure if it's ready for peer review though, because we still haven't got too many citations. I've looked around and added two, but I'm not sure if it's enough. Thanks again. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 11:31, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Remember that a peer review isn't the same as an assessment. It will normally just provide a checklist of things that need to be done. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 12:35, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Really? Then I guess you've got the go-ahead. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 12:36, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
What's your thoughts on putting negative reviews in the article? I think it's going to sound like chaos... Because a lot of the reviews are negative and have personal attacks, etc. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 03:56, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I noticed you reverted recent edits from another user, citing vandalism. Can you please show me the edits that constitued vandalism please? On Wikipedia it is a big accusation and if you cannot prove it you should use 'good faith' reverting. Also, the English language to be used on the article has not been decided as yet. The majority voting and editing thus far have preferred British English, whilst it uses American English you can change to it but you shouldn't say it uses American English when concensus has yet to be reached. Finally, all articles are team efforts, you stated that you worked hard on it, whilst that is true you are not allowed to take sole responsibility for the articles. Sorry to be nit-picky mate, just thought I'd comm with you before someone gets arsey and tries to complain about you. chocobogamer mine 13:50, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, sorry for making it sound personal. And it wasn't vandalism per se. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 05:09, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi, User:JDC808 here, sorry about the many edits in a row, I'll try to do better with editing things in one edit instead of several. —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:39, 2 January 2009 (UTC).

I have a question about a region specific feature mentioned in the World Map section. In the paragraph about Home Square/Central Plaza, it says "region specific features (such as the North American Home Arch)", is this a feature that was in the closed beta version of Central Plaza or is this a feature to come later on? I was just curious about this because in the open beta version of Central Plaza, I don't see anything that would be that arch. JDC808 (talk) 20:17, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... Central Plaza has changed dramatically since the Closed Beta. I didn't realise that. It's a lot smaller than Home Square. I'll remove the Home Arch mention. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 01:26, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Do you know if the 12 Games of Christmas event was available to users of European and Asian Home? I added this to the event section but I didn't put that it was available for European or Asian Home users cause I didn't know if it was. JDC808 (talk) 17:08 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Definitely not Europe Home... Not sure about Asia Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 22:14, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

I just want to say that the article is looking great. Great job in origianaly making it, it probably wouldn't be where it is if it wasn't for you, well maybe, but let's not look at the maybe. JDC808 (talk) 15:33, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, me neither. I couldn't have done it without you or ChimpanzeeUK. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 23:26, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Does that Game Spaces section I added look alright? I tried to not get too detailed with it, I just basically said what needs to be said in that section, might need some rewording. JDC808 (talk) 16:33, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to necrobump an old thread, but I too wanted to add thanks and kudos for all of your fine work at Playstation Home. Thank you! --guyzero | talk 05:23, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Over on the NA Home server, we have this group called Home Conference, created by PSN user ProphecyElite, in Home Conference we discuss Home and our ideas of what we want to see happen to Home. I'm part of this group and it's actually become kind of big. Here's the thread if you may be interested in attending one of the Home Conference meets Home Conference Thread. They're hosted in four different club houses so region jumping won't be an issue. We've actually got a radio show started just recently and we're expanding it out to doing different things, you'll see what those different things are on the thread. The thread has all the info you'll need, at least it should. JDC808 (talk) 17:19, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Sounds quite interesting. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 07:31, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Japanese flag request

{{helpme}} I request for the flag to have an outline, because articles such as List of PlayStation 3 games and List of PlayStation Home Game Spaces that put the Japanese flag icon in will only be able to see the red dot. As current, the outline is impossible to see. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 02:42, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Flag looks ok o me - not transparent - which bits do you mean? or please give me the filename of the image with problems? domo.  Chzz  ►  02:50, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
File:Flag of Japan.svg All I'm asking for is for the flag to have a grey outline. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 02:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Looking, bear with me...  Chzz  ►  03:06, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
...I'm confused; File:Flag of Japan.svg is in svg format, which doesn't allow for a transparent background? So it should show solid on anything? If I look at List of PlayStation 3 games I see the flag with with white background? Please explain :-) I am trying to help, honestly :-) Maybe easier - talk to us live.  Chzz  ►  03:10, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
A flag with white background, yes, but the browser background is the same colour, which may be a problem for some. It could just be my monitor's colours. Thanks. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 03:13, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
The image on the right has an outline, which is what I am aiming for. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 03:17, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

(unindent) ok, I see. The page List of PlayStation Home Game Spaces uses the template {{flagicon|Japan}}, which just displays the image with no border. In the image here, I used 'thumb' which puts it in a border. Err. Not sure what the answer is here; the template is used in zillions of places; I guess you could edit the article and replace the {{flagicon|Japan}} with...err...not sure. Will check and reply.

Aha! I found some info about this; in Template_talk:Flagicon#Border.3F. If you think it merits further discussion (than happened before), then that is certainly the place to raise the issue; I know the discussion dates back to 2006, but there are contribs to the end of the article from 14 February 2009; hence - create a new section to discuss it again, if you wish. If I can help further, let me know. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  03:36, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Oh well, I've isolated the issue already, on the PlayStation Home list, I put silver background there. It's not that much of a fuss though. Thanks for helping! Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 03:44, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

The Cloud Black

Is the name of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete version of PS3. it still counts as PS3, so really it should still be added to PS3 article.216.64.190.254 | Talk

It's limited edition, and Japan only. You have to request it at the PS3 talk page. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 12:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Windows 7

Hi. Please do not add future release dates to the Windows 7 article. --   GameShowKidtalkevidence   07:22, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

I disagree slightly on the inclusion of the RTM build, as it is pirated. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 07:24, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I didn't include the RTM build, but I do know there was a consensus made at some point in the past not to include future release dates. --   GameShowKidtalkevidence   08:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I realise that but I thought that if the RTM was stated, that the retail would be included, but yeah, I see my mistake. You will have to put the notification back up that says not to put future releases in. Ffgamera - My page! | Talk to me! | Contribs 08:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, could you possibly blur out your PSN username? I know you're okay with displaying it but it is probably better for the sake of personal privacy and account sharing guidelines to just blur it. It's okay if you don't want to. Bahahs 21:42, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

No, that's a glitch in the system because I messed up the link to my page and public username thing. I always use four tildes. I don't think I'd bother spending a minute manually typing put the PERFECT signature. Bahahs (talk) 20:29, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
