  • "At chemical equilibrium or in phase equilibrium the total sum of chemical potentials is zero as the free energy is at a minimum." --> Should be "At chemical equilibrium or in phase equilibrium the total sum of chemical potentials weighted by stoichiometric coefficient is zero as the free energy is at a minimum." (or something like that), correct? For example, if you have H+,OH-,H2O system in equilibrium, it should be mu(H+) + mu(OH-) - mu(H2O) = 0 correct? The third one is being subtracted not added, so the words "total sum" gives the wrong idea. Maybe "the sum of chemical potentials of reactants equals the sum of chemical potentials of the products, for any possible reaction..."

Other than that I do not have any pressing concerns and I think this is an improvement over the current version. --Steve (talk) 13:54, 2 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
