Request reason:

Hi, I would like to know the reason for my block. I have been fixing the vehicle sales numbers to be accurate as you can see from my edits.

Decline reason:

ToBeFree beat me to saying what I was going to say. I am having great difficulty believing that you came across carfigures.com by chance, based on the reasons already stated by ToBeFree. Whether you are associated with it or not, it isn't reliable as a source of information. You'll need to (again, as noted) describe what edits you want to make as part of another unblock request, I am declining this one. 331dot (talk) 15:42, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As stated, you are blocked for promotional editing. What is your association with car-figures.com? 331dot (talk) 14:38, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

(just to avoid any doubt: The question is about "carfigures.com".) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:48, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Just a car enthusiast. It started with me looking up best selling subcompact cars on google. I then stumbled upon that website. I then got down into a wikipedia car binge (once again) and got to the Toyota 86 wiki page. I wanted to see sales numbers and saw the broken link. I then googled to replace the link with the good one, but some of the numbers were not matching? (I googled toyota 86 car figures). I then decided to try to help out by replacing the link. It felt good to help out so I just continued. I went down a rabbit hole again of seeing a whole bunch of wrong sales figures in wiki (I cleaned up a few if you look at my edits), some without 2019 data (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_i8) and sometimes broken links (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lexus_CT&oldid=prev&diff=943145275) and asks for help (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_NSX_(second_generation)#Sales). I then decided to try to help out and update/fix all the car webpages with accurate and most up to date data to the best of my abilities. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused to the wiki community. Happy to continue or cease edits depending on how you see fit.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter-crowder (talkcontribs)
Hi Peter-crowder, "car enthusiast" matches the description at carfigures.com/about, the niche website likely does not appear prominently in Google results, and replacing reference links by "carfigures.com" was the first and only thing this account has ever been used for, from five minutes after its creation to today. The website is self-published and unreliable, and may not be used as reference for Wikipedia articles. We prefer inaccessible references to accessible spam links. The unblock request currently does not provide any reason for removing the block. I recommend providing examples for edits you would like to make in the future, proving that the block currently prevents contributions that the community actually considers to be useful. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 15:36, 1 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
