Welcome!

edit

Hello, PerfectMischief, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Parler, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thanks again, Sandstein! I saw your response on the Parler page. Rather than clutter that Talk page further, I will respond here.

I appreciate your response. I am disappointed that you are declining to make the article objective and factual based on readily available information. I did forget that I referenced the Parler 'About' page for their stated goals, etc, so that was my bad. It was not done as an attempt to hide any association. I have no association with Parler beyond the normal user association. I assume the disclosure rules are the same for everyone and disclosure of user association is not a requirement, or the existing article would have a disclosure about the author being a user of Parler competitors (unless they happen to be the only person on the planet without a Twitter account).
You were correct about the reference to 'Independents' using the service. My only source for that reference is myself, and my knowledge of several other independents who use Parler on occasion. That word wasn't in the article and I should have left it out. :)

I think before I do any more editing here, I will use some of those helpful resources you provided and learn my way around a little better. I appreciate the welcome and the polite exchange and assistance. PerfectMischief (talk) 20:12, 31 May 2019 (UTC)PerfectMischiefReply

    • I re-read the above and realized that I need to be very direct in response to part of your post. I am not, do not, have never been and will not ever be employed by, represent, volunteer for or otherwise have any exceptional amount of influence over (or any desire to do any of the previous) with Parler. I'm not sure if that was the intended implication of your post, but that's what it sounded like you were suggesting. I am also equally disgusted by both major political parties, so no conflict of interest there either. And I don't work for any media outlet of any type! I hope that covers everything. :) Basically, I was bored. I saw the article mentioned. I agreed that it is written with an obvious negative bias, and I wanted to help bring some objectivity to it. It's that simple. PerfectMischief (talk) 20:23, 31 May 2019 (UTC)PerfectMischiefReply
