Unblock appeal edit

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

It seems that out of nowhere I received a CheckUser block today that expires in 3 months. This is surely mistaken because I've never vandalized Wikipedia and have done nothing but help it for the 6 years I've been here. I'm a little confused because it says that my IP has been used to disrupt Wikipedia, yet I am the only one who uses this IP address and there are currently no contributions under the IP address itself.

Accept reason:

Not the intended target of the block; IPBE granted. Sorry for the inconvenience Percivl! Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:28, 8 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes ISPs change the IPs they issue - or if you're on a wireless router that isn't securely passworded someone could use your IP. (Worth checking out...) We'll need to know what the message says as there's no sign of a direct block. Peridon (talk) 18:01, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
My IP address is securely passworded. Here is a screenshot of the block message for you. Percivl (talk) 21:46, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'll ping the blocking admin. @Ponyo:
As this is a big ol rangeblock we need to consider an ipblock exemption but can't do that without the checkuser tool. Need to wait for Ponyo to do the necessary checks first. Spartaz Humbug! 22:09, 7 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Percivl, I've granted your account an IP block exemption. Up until December 1 you were editing from a different IP range and that is why the block didn't affect you. As all accounts (over 20) in the blocked range are socks of a disruptive editor, I have applied the exemption to your account as opposed to reducing the range block. As long as you're logged in to your account, you shouldn't encounter any further issues. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:26, 8 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Stella edit

I declined both your speedies on the flowing hair Stella redirects before I noticed that you appear to have created them. If you were looking for references for a person called Stella (which is what your request appeared to say), then you won't find them. It's the head of Liberty on the coin, and Stella comes from the star on the reverse of the coin. The redirects look OK to me, but your reason for deletion wasn't. 'Lack of references' isn't a valid reason at speedy. If you really want to get rid of them, you can use db-G7. I think they're OK and as redirects they don't need referencing anyway. 'Flowing' hair is mentioned in the description, and that's enough. Peridon (talk) 22:35, 9 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of List of downloadable songs for Rocksmith edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of downloadable songs for Rocksmith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Bri (talk) 20:41, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

WP:NOTBROKEN edit

As I told an IP editor on Outer Peace, we don't need to correct every instance of synthpop to synth-pop; the former is a redirect and is not WP:NOTBROKEN. An IP editor also added R&B as a genre, when the quote in the critical reception section explicitly states the album is only synthpop with influences from R&B and house, but not actually either of the latter two. Hence why it has been removed again. Ss112 10:34, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Edit of Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk song) article edit

Hello Percivl. You recently edited the Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk song) article. Specifically, you enclosed two song titles in quote marks. The song titles happened to be part of a quotation. Consequently, I undid your changes, explaining in the edit summary that, rightly or wrongly, the source for the quotation itself didn't use quote marks.

Although not stated explicitly, Wikipedia's guidelines in fact imply that song titles, when contained within quotations, should be enclosed in quote marks. (See MOS:CONFORM and MOS:CONFORMTITLE, if interested.) Accordingly, I've redone your edit, albeit also converting from double to single quote marks, following the guidelines on quotations within quotations (MOS:QWQ). Apologies—my mistake. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please find a reliable source to support your edit; a source which clearly supports the content you are adding. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 05:20, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
