Pepperbeast, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree with you. Conversion therapy is , at best, a fringe science, and it should be reflected as such in the lead, the scare quotes where there to show that this is not supported in a lot of spiritual circles, and the change from "psyhological" to "controversial" was to show that it's not at all a mainstream belief or practice, rather that it's restricted to fringers. I did revert you, but I reverted back to your version and started a discussion on the Conversion Therapy page. Your input would be welcomed.  Ҝ Ø Ƽ Ħ  13:00, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

Frankly, I think calling it a fringe science is giving it far more credit that it's worth. However, putting scare quotes on things isn't an appropriate way to express some kind of disapproval. If you want to point out that some (many?) religious bodies don't endorse conversion therapy, you need to do it by adding information and references to the article. In this case, I agree with PepperBeast. Stylizing or employing "square quotes" to subordinate a term is not acceptable. If you disagree, as he so rightly points out, then please do so with facts and cite your sources. Then allow the reader to decide for themselves if it is or is not a "fringe" science. You can say or quote whatever you want as long as you can back it up. Facts are more powerful than fonts.
