Iron edit

Just so you know, I removed the cite you added as the reference was actually mirroring Wikipedia content. --NeilN talkcontribs 18:27, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Brett Myers edit

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that we don't update baseball statistics in infoboxes until a stable point in the season, like the All-Star break or the end of the year. If you have any questions, you can see the discussion on WT:MLB or you can ask me at my talk page. Thanks. KV5 (TalkPhils) 11:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stryi River edit

Hi

I just undid your category removal

It is a river of Europe and so I cannot understand why you removed the category

You also seem to have forgotten to put an edit summary in to explain the removal so I cannot see why you did this

Perhaps you can explain ?

Thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 07:41, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi & thx for the speedy reply :¬)
The ovrall consensus from the rivers group was that there was a comprehensive list into each of the categories
Basically if its a river worthy of a n article it would go into each category so that Stryi would be in "Ukrainian Rivers" and "European Rivers"
There theory was that the cats were not like a tree and so, using the Thames as example, should be mentioned in both cats eg
European rivers - Thames
European rivers - Tame
British rivers - Thames
British rivers - Tame
English Rivers - Thames
English Rivers - Tame
For me it would make much more sense to be more like a tree than double lists eg
European rivers-Albanian Rivers
.............................-British Rivers
British Rivers-English Rivers
.........................-Scottish Rivers
English Rivers-Thames
...........................-Tame
As I said it makes little sense to me but whatever policy is in force I will follow
thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 01:54, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
PX I think that the Ukrainian portal categorises rivers as well as the rivers portal and the geography portal so it may be down to that reason there are so many. I know we use the cats for collecting info on projects and workgroups which may lead to multiple similar cats Chaosdruid (talk) 01:56, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:39, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
