Aug 2011 edit

The biggest problems I have at the moment I think, is a lack of further interest in trying to get the ISS article out of the groundhog day loop it's in. It stinks of currency issues, but has been swept back without explanation into a 2 year old FA-passing version. Looking FA from 2 years ago is not as good as being factually correct. Being factually correct, plus everyone helping to make it FA and up-to-date would be ideal, but an unrealistic hope for this article.- 12 August 2011 at 11:29.

Tooth Fairy edit

I'm afraid that either I'm not very good at mentoring (highly likely) or that Penyulap sees nothing wrong with his behavior. I'm skeptical that mentorshop can be effective when the misbehaving party is blaming their actions on everyone but themselves. But, as I said, I'm not very good at this. It would seem that for mentoring to be helpful, the person being mentored has to understand there is a problem with his or her behavior and be willing to accept help to change that. I'm not fmailiar with the ISS situation, but I am not seeing any evidence in the tooth fairy one that Penyulap has any desire to change. A polite request from me to stop the sarcasm was soundly rebuffed. LadyofShalott 22:18, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, Danger your doing fine, I have no further difficulties with editors on the ISS page, or anywhere else on wiki for that matter, just an editor or two on the TF article. Mostly SummerPhd really. The others are clones. LadyofShalott is pretty good, she helped spruce up the article and talkpage too.

LadyofShalott, well true, I turned your request down flat, as I can't see any better way to deal with this nonsense from SummerPhd and clones. It's not like I get upset anymore like with the ISS article, I DGAF, but you know, it's not like I'll stop improving the article or discussing ways to improve it. Some people on that TP are just going to have to get over themselves.

Personally I don't think the links to (probably I didn't bother to look) graphic material should be on that page. I asked and got turned down flat too, there's some of that going around it seems.

Anyhow, any suggestions would be appreciated. Penyulap talk 01:15, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

First, thank you for seeking input in this manner. My suggestion is to stop with the sarcasm. I find the way you've chosen to communicate on that page to be so unpleasant that I have been giving serious thought to taking it off my watchlist and just leaving it. The sarcasm is not helping to resolve the disputes; it's just making the page a nasty place to be. It's actually counterproductive in that it is driving away an editor who has been trying to contribute to the page and its talk. What's wrong with just stating your opinion clearly, concisely, and politely? LadyofShalott 01:36, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "clones", but the fact that more than one person disagrees with you about something does not make those editors clones of one another. Avoiding language like that in the future would be very helpful. LadyofShalott 01:41, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
WELL NOW sorry caps lock was on, now only is complaining about me speaking to you and my mentor on my talkpage, how am i supposed to escape this constant harassment ???????????????????????????????????????? Penyulap talk 02:06, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

how do I stop this person stalking and harassing me?

With it at ANI, uninvolved editors/admins will see it and make what comentary they feel is useful to all. Best thing to do at this point is get away from Wikipedia for a few hours. Do anything else while allowing neutral people time to come into the picture. LadyofShalott 02:24, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
You asked me to comment, so here goes. Remember the first rule of holes: when you find yourself in one, stop digging. Danger (talk) 04:07, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, if you'd like to take this advice party seriously and have it not be invite-only, put yourself up for editor review. Danger (talk) 04:09, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Danger, thanks for the saying, I do understand you are quite often constrained in real life, to the point that you have no time to talk, so I'll agree with your comments "I'm not very good at mentoring (highly likely)"... "But, as I said, I'm not very good at this. Danger (talk) 22:09, 26 October 2011 (UTC)", and thank you for your previous offer of help and formally end the mentor-ship. I'll seek assistance elsewhere, from whomsoever can assist me. Penyulap talk 22:48, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, wiki is something more of a cube-farm and editors don't specialize or interact on any optimal level. So this feedback idea is pretty much as dead as ideas get. whatever. delinking. next. Interesting to see however, the hinderance to mentorship that harassing behavior is. Still I can't be bothered suggesting additional guidelines, I consider wiki to be somewhat of an inevitable failure in it's current unevolved form. Penyulap talk 07:07, 2 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
