I don't want to be too nosey, but own-user-page-blanking is on my "list of worrying signs". Nothing wrong, I hope? BTW, good call on philo-book- vs. philo-lit-: Category:Philosophy books seems to be the largest unsplit subtree of the Category:non-fiction book stubs. Indeed, I'd noticed you were keeping up the pace all right, no complaints on that score. :) Let me know if you have further such problems: the admin mob, and if it comes to that, the arbcom, take a pretty dim view of that sort of behaviour (though obviously one doesn't want to draw any more attention than is necessary to such antics). BTW, I'm not sure if there's an identifying information issue here, but if you wish the versions of the article with the abuse to be removed from the edit history, I can help with that. Question

Hi Peggy,

Somone I know from CPS was interogated at school regarding this incident, and he was absolutely not culpable for any actions regarding the vandalism on the CPS page. I think the best course of action would be doing an IP check on Therlaener, and i'm guessing that it can be traced to the CPS library or someone's address. I left my account on at my school library, so whoever posted the ad hominum atfter Therlaender's attack was not related, just a random sympathizer. --SeanMcG 19:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I want to thank you for your comments and your defense of the person interviewed this morning. I/we never suspected for a moment that that person was responsible for the edit; the interview was primarily to mutually gather and impart information. I hope to reassure the party concerned on that account. Our inquiries are proceeding and I can't really discuss them here, but I hope for a positive resolution, or at least a stop to the abuse. Re:"hoping you listed things right" at SFD

Hi Pegship - sorry, but no you didn't :) I've fixed it up. Basically, if you're the first person to add SFD listings for a particular day you need to make a subpage of SFD and then transcribe it into SFD (add the subpage as if it were a template). LoC ISBN search.

Re [1], do you want to make a template that takes you to a LoC search page for the supplied ISBN?

If so, then the following may work:

(no dashes or spaces allowed in the parameter).

I think it's better to just use the normal Wikipedia feature that auto links anything with ISBN in front (e.g. ISBN 039453512X) because this also links to other libraries around the world. -- Jeandré, 2006-11-01t11:51z

Agreed, don't bother spending time on this. It has been done better and more comprehensively by the "ISBN kkkkkkkkkk" logic. Also you need to be aware that 10 digit ISBNs will soon be joined by 13 digit ones. I feel confident that unani means he practiced something that was once described as "greek medicine", not that he was a greek himself. The unani article says that it split off from the predecessor of the Western medicine we use around 900 ad. Technical procedural issue

I've run into a tricky problem, which may need administrator attention. The person who nominated the page I created called Wikipedia:Admin school (a forum page like the Help desk, but for intermediate users to ask their questions on how to become an even better editor and thus prepare for adminship) for deletion, has gone around and removed links leading to the page. By doing this, the deletion nominator denied access to the page (and its deletion discussion notice) by those people who might actually make use of it. Is this considered manipulation of the deletion discussion process? I don't know of any policies or precedents covering this, do you? I'm in the process of reverting the link removals, but I would appreciate it if you would look into this issue for me, because I don't have a clue what is appropriate here. My cautious opinion is that removing the links is bad form, but I can't find anything explicitly forbidding it. On the Guide to deletion page, under Nomination, the nominator is advised to "check the "what links here" link to see how the article is being used within Wikipedia.". If checking "what links here" is useful to someone considering the page's deletion, then obviously removing the links removes one way of determining whether it's useful. I have no opinion about whether the page should be deleted, but I do think you might just leave a comment on the deletion entry about the usefulness of "what links here" as the reason why you're reverting the nom's un-linking. Novels

I'm wondering why you think all the subcategories of Category:Novels should be sorted under a * tag instead of by letter — if you look at the category page, it doesn't make the category easier to use than sorting them by letter would; in fact, it makes the category organization distinctly less clear and useful. Hi there! What comes after the "pipe" in the category link determines how the article is sorted within the category; wiki code sorts by the first word in the title unless you use the pipe. If the title of the work begins with an article (a, an or the in English), you use the pipe like this [[Category:British novels|Man Who Would Be King, The]] so it'll be listed under "Man" and not "The". About a film stub...

...which may not be a film stub: searching for the film Erendira, I came across The Incredible and Sad Tale of Innocent Eréndira and her Heartless Grandmother and put novel and film template. Yet the film's name is not the same, so although it's the only mention on the film, maybe I shouldn't tag it as a film stub. Can you please clarify to me how it goes in such cases? Greetings. I see that you added An Incomplete History of the Art of Funerary Violin to the category:Comedy books. Are you sure that this is an appropriate category? My understanding (and I haven't seen the book yet) is that is it more an exercise in musical composition and in musical history composition than it is comedic work. Stub tag for The Book of Bond

Hi. I reverted the stub sort you did for the Book of Bond article because it is a work of fiction, so to tag it as a nonfiction book was incorrect. However, I really have no idea what to tag it as. There doesn't seem to be a stub tag for humor books, or "fictional universe" books either, both of which would have been appropriate. That's why I went with the general tag. Any ideas? Re-name proposal : Children's non-fiction authors to List of children's non-fiction writers

I'm of the opinion that it should be renamed again to better conform with what appears to be the current convention: List of children's non-fiction writers. In addition, I think the list is way too short to warrent the A-Z toc type? I haven't made any ccomments on the discussion page yet. Finnish film

Hi pegship. I am very interested in film in general and I know that other countries have large film industries of their own yet most of us know nothing about. I noticed bfore that Finnish film is very poorly covered yet it has a notable film industry. As a part of Wikipedia:Wikiproject Finland I am goijng through Finnish films and actors atttempting to provide information about unknown films to the general audience. However I have had a lot of difficulty from User:Calton who thinks Agentti 000 ja kuoleman kurvit is far less notable than Aanai or They Call Us Misfits even though I have not only provided a dvd cover but have written details of the plot, actors and the characters, dates of release, director , writers, company of production etc and exrternal link. Some of finland's top actors starred in this film and just because it is in Finnish and a parody comedy User:Calton because of his own disinterest in film thinks no one is entitled to know of it. I have started many of the actors and in each of there articles there is a link to this film. I feel I am doing a good job in covering an uncovered area yet he keeps tagging it. I have even set up the stub templates for finnish film and actors with User:Valentinian for later expansion. I think everybody has a right to know about the sum of human knowledge. I feel discouraged now about continuing my work on Finland in general for fear that someone will put it up for deletion becuse it is not American! I know the film may not be world famous as many mainstream Hollywood films but as part of Wikiproject Film and Wikiproject Finland this is the point I am attempting to provide information to people who would never know of it otherwise. If he tags mine he'll have to tag thousands of other films already on wikipedia which are far less detailed and more basic than mine. If Finnish films shouldn't be on wikipedia why should danish film, swedish film , romanian film, tamil language film be on wikipedia? I mean have you seen some of the majorly trivial list of cartoon characters in Japanese manga comics that I haven't heard of? I personally have no knowledge of them and personally don't see that they are not notable but I am sure there are many who want to know about it - but does not give me the right to go thorugh them all tagging them because they are not notable enough? I have inproved it a little now there is absolutely no reason to tag it can he honestly think that Aanai is better than this? It's really annoying because I could have started five films in the time I am taken over him.

yes it is better to ignoe him. he seems a very nasty piece of work. I am alos working on Seven Years in Tibet. I have written it up from a minor stub but am only about 1/3 through. When I have finsihed the detailed synopsis I will add a detailed section comparing the film and the novel which i have and love and also details about filming by Jean Jacques Annaud and more detail of the Chinese controversy. I definately reckon I can make it a feature I saw Jaws on the main page the other day and I think eventually this will be even more detailed than that. Obviosuly it will a great deal of work. Notability of red links

Hi Your Pegship, and thanks for the hand in the red list. As you see it is being split in decades. I am not sure what may follow. There are many many red links given in actors' and directors' filmographies. I have also posted in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines about it. If you know of more specific guidelines, I will greately appreciate to know. Have you isolated the films you entered in unsorted for notability? I would like to align my actions with your criteria.
