PechiAmman பேச்சியம்மன்(in Tamil), is the name of the Goddess which has been safegaurding, guiding the some groups of people who have been worshipping this goddess as their family deity. PechiAmman'will also be spelled as 'Petchiamman' or 'Petchi' or 'Pechi' or 'Pechi Amman' or 'Petchi Amman'etc. This goddess is another form of goddess 'Dhurga' or 'Dhurkaiamman'. More than 15 centuries the tamils and Malayalis lived in South & South East Asia have been worshipping this goddess. PetchiAmman is one of the popular goddess in south india and srilanka. The tamils and malayalees have been worshipping this famous goddess as main family deity or one of their family deities. The current tamil communities namely Nadar, Thevar, Mudaliar, Nayakkars and Pillais have been worshipping this goddess as their family deity. 'Petchi' means 'the goddess who serves their disciples to be strong on their speech, wordings, debating, and writing. It is a form of the goddess of power. There is some say that 'PetchiAmman' is a goddess from 'Samanam' religion founded by 'Mahaveer'. This religion was equally famous with 'Saivam' and 'Vainavam' subreligions of hinduism in Madurai during Pandyas' ruling regimes.

4.Communicating with disciples This goddess choose some women disciple from the worshipping community and communicating with its other disciples / worshippers during poojas or festivals. This goddess is very powerful during two days in a year. First one is during the third day from Maha shivratri which is a no moon day. This falls during the day of 'Sadayam' nakshatra. The second one is on 18 th day of tamil month 'Aadi' usually falls on either 2nd or third day of August every year. While its divine communication through some chosen women, these women forget themselves for that particular period. They can not remember what had happened when this goddess was in their body. May be the soul is being replaced with that of the divine goddess. It guides the disciples what to do and what not to do, what to choose and what not to choose, which way to go and which way is not. What are the parihars (countering) one has to do to get rid of their bad fate? Generally these parihars are 'going to a temple on certain period or day and do some poojahs with some auspicious materials like country sugars, jasmine flowers, betalvane and arecanuts, towels, importantly lemon and kumkums etc. These parihars are mainly suggested by this goddess to get health, wealth and other prosperities like children and education.
5.Worshipping as a group Generally, this goddess organise the family members (Pangalis) based on male hereditory and all their generations are meeting together, planing for doing some pooja or for celebrating some festivals together. They estimate the amount required and divide the same to each family and collect from them.
