File:DonBrewer.jpg needs authorship information. edit

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:DonBrewer.jpg is missing information as to it's authorship, or if such information is provided it is confusing.

If possible, please add or clarfiy this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

When adding authorship information to self published work please Do NOT use describers such as 'own-work' , 'self-made' or personal names, without making your user name explicit. This is so that media can be more accurately traced, when transferred to Wikimedia Commons.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 01:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Shine.ogg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Shine.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 08:01, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Unionband.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Unionband.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:49, 26 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 03:49, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Lithiumsong.ogg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lithiumsong.ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 13:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Foxyladyalbumcover.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Foxyladyalbumcover.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Wexcan  Talk  18:17, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Feelerablum.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Feelerablum.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:54, 31 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Pdesil! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 942 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Great job with the article. I worked on it some more and nominated it for Did You Know.

One thing that you could improve on it to start using the citation templates. I think they're easier that what you've been doing! Here's how you use them. You need to have an edit window open to understand. Check out the upper left part of the screen, just above the editing window. You access them by clicking on the word "Templates" and then you select the appropriate category (often web or news for newspapers / magazines). You fill in the appropriate boxes. A tip is to click on #3 to get today's date for the access date. Make sure that the insertion point is right by clicking where you want the reference to appear. There are other cool things like bold and italics above the templates area.

Good job on the NHRA article! I mentioned that I have a bunch of NHRA images if you start getting into articles. I have some great references for some all-time greats. Up until you came, I was about the only person who has seriously worked on NHRA articles. I'm also the only serious Wikipedian who works on off-road racing articles. I have a broad interest in racing. Royalbroil 13:37, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
