I try, thank you! - There's a long thread on my talk (with a long header also, look for "long gone", and read "not gone at all") where I was less successful, to put it mildly. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:47, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Help with uploading a cropped photo.

Dear Rob,
I would be very grateful if you could assist me with the following task, please?
There is a photograph in the infobox of the article on Robert Desnos, shown below. As you can see, it is much too wide for a sensible portrait photo, and I have therefore cropped it on my computer, cutting off the unwanted space to the left and right of his shoulders, and from the bottom up to his waistcoat. However, I don't know how to upload the cropped version into Wikipedia, as a new entry into the existing file; I have seen many files which have several iterations of the same photo, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way of editing an existing file in order to add a new version of the same photo. So, assuming you know how to do this, please may I ask you to send me some step-by-step guidance on how to do this? File:Robert Desnos.jpg
Thank you so much for your time and advice, Rob.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 00:17, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Patrick, sure, I'd be happy to help. I just created 2 new versions of this pic myself and loaded them up to Commons. Basically, I loaded them as if they were my own work using the Wizard, and then once they were loaded I replaced the generated text with new text to reflect the fact that they are modified versions of an existing work. If you click on Edit on either of these, you can see the code that I used. So, if you want to load a new version yourself, just load it as your own work and then replace the generated code like I did. The 2 new images are: Robert Desnos 2 (re-balanced and digital blemishes removed), Robert Desnos 3 (cropped version). Robman94 (talk) 16:14, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Dear Rob,
You're an absolute star! Thank you very much indeed for your kind support, not only with the general guidance (i.e. teaching me how to fish), but also with completing the required task yourself (i.e. giving me a fish to eat) so as to save me the time and effort, plus the anxiety of getting it wrong.   I am most grateful to you for your sense of collaboration with your colleagues, and I hope it wasn't too much trouble.
I'll now seek approval from other editors to replace the current photo with the cropped version you created so graciously, and am hopeful it'll receive their blessing.
Once again: very many thanks, Rob!
With kind regards and my very best wishes to you;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:53, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
You're most welcome. Replacing the photo is not a controversial move, so you could just do it without needing to seek consensus first, and if anyone did object, they can always reverse your edit. So just be bold and go ahead and do it. Enjoy! Robman94 (talk) 17:06, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Dear Rob,
Thank you for your kind advice and encouragements; it's now   Done! Thanks once again, Rob.
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 17:27, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

So guess what, I found a much better copy of that photo here, so I replaced the poor copy that was on Wiki with that one. This is allowed because, the photo itself has been released under a CC 3.0 License, so any copy of that same photo is also under the same license. Robman94 (talk) 22:38, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Well spotted, Rob, and I agree; it's a much clearer exhibit of the same! Thank you for updating the existing file also, for completeness. Were you thinking of re-cropping that version, to recreate the portrait equivalent? I would have thought your earlier cleaning certainly delivered a good result, and I wouldn't wish to impose on your time and goodwill. But it's up to you, Rob: if you think a new portrait version is warranted, then please go ahead and know that I would use that if you thought the effort was justified.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 22:59, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
P.S.: By the way, how does one update an existing 'File:', like you just did??
I already did update the 2 photos that I loaded (you may need to do a browser refresh if you don't see the new versions. To upload a new version, first you need to be in Commons rather than Wiki, so if you are looking at the Wiki version, click on the link in the line "This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons. Information from its description page there is shown below.". Once you're over at Commons, scroll down to the File History section and look for the "Upload a new version of this file" link below. Robman94 (talk) 16:33, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your message, Rob, and for your patience with me.
You were right: I was still seeing the previous version of your cropped photo and didn't think of purging the page, since I hadn't realized you'd already uploaded the cropped portrait of the cleaner version! Also, I have never contributed anything into Commons, nor ever even been there! However, after following your instructions above, it all made perfect sense to me and I'll know what to do next time. Thank you once again for all your time and indulgence, Rob; it is much appreciated.
With kind regards and very best wishes;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 20:00, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
Basically, if a photo is "free", it should be loaded over at Commons. The local Wiki site is the right place for "fair use" photos. If you ever find yourself wanting to load up an image file of some sort, feel free to reach out to me again because I can certainly offer advice in that area. Good luck with the Robert Desnos page, I see that it's keeping you busy. Robman94 (talk) 03:02, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Very many thanks for your generous offer of continued assistance, Rob; it's reassuring to be able to call on your skills when required in future; thank you. Yes, the article on Desnos needed further improvements, but we're nearly there and it's a joy, tinged with sadness, to help document the life and works of one of my lifelong heroes; I remember being spellbound by his poetry when I was a teenager, many moons ago!
With kind regards and very best wishes of success with your own projects;

ISBNs

Patrick, I am still unsure where to put the hyphens in these numbers. Can you advise (specifically, Petersfield#Further_reading, please? Sorry if I'm being dim. Tony Holkham (Talk) 15:26, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Dear Tony,
No problem at all; I have just updated it in the article itself, to: 978-1-4456-7261-8. I always consult the "Pattern for English language ISBN numbers", and here is how it works, step by step:
  1. Look at the first digit after "978" (which is the prefix of all isbn-13 numbers); that first digit will always be either '0' or '1' for books published in English) and place a hyphen immediately after that single digit: 978-1-445672618.
  2. Since that digit was '1' in your case, you will need to consult the columns nested under the heading: 1 – Registration group element (on the right hand side of the table).
  3. Now look at the next few digits after the '1' in the ISBN number (i.e. '978-1-4456...') and consult the From and To columns (under the heading 1 – Registration group element); by scanning down the rows in the From column, you can see that 4456 fits in the range from '1-3980-xxxx-x', to '1-5499-xxxx-x' in the To column. Therefore, your ISBN number should have a hyphen after the 4th digit; so, place another hyphen there: 978-1-4456-72618.
  4. The remaining 5 digits in that row's range (i.e. '1-3980-xxxx-x') show clearly that the next hyphen will go after the next set of 4 digits: '978-1-4456-7261-8', i.e. just before the check digit.
That's it! I hope I made it clear enough with this example; if not, then please don't hesitate to ask again, Tony. Basically, it is a case of 1) first selecting which part of the table to use (depending on either '0' or '1'), and then 2) finding the range within which the next few digits will fit, using the 'From' and 'To' columns. Once you've located where there is a fit, then you will see where the hyphens need to be inserted. Hope this helped.
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:33, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for that; I'll try to get my head round it! I wonder why Google books don't hyphenate, though, as it's clearly important... Tony Holkham (Talk) 16:45, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Help with referring back to a 'Note' coded in a {{Refn}} template

Dear helpful fellow editors,
In the article on Kate & Anna McGarrigle, I have created a note using the {{refn}} template (this note:)[note 1] with the following code: ...

{{refn|group=note|name="FirstAlbumReleaseDate"|...}}

... and it works fine. I would now like to refer back to this note in a later section of the same article and, after consulting the WP:REFGROUP and Help:footnotes, I didn't find an example of referring back to an existing 'Note' coded in a {{refn}} template. I therefore coded various combinations, all of which returned different flavours of the "cite error" message:

  1. <ref name="FirstAlbumReleaseDate" />;
  2. <ref name=FirstAlbumReleaseDate/>;
  3. <ref group="FirstAlbumReleaseDate"/>;
  4. <ref groupname="FirstAlbumReleaseDate"/>;
  5. <ref name=note/>;

I suspect I'm making a very simple mistake, but I just can't see it and am hopeful another editor knows how to achieve this.
So, thank you very much in advance, for any helpful assistance anyone could offer, and please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused by my query, in case I have overlooked something really simple or fundamental, out of ignorance.
With kind regards;

Notes

  1. ^ Various sources use the recording date of '1975'[1]: 315  also as the release date, but reliable sources in books[2]: 30–31 [3]: 316 [4]: 162  and newspaper articles, both in the US[5][6] and the UK,[7] indicate or cite '1976' and 'January 1976' as the release date.

John Doyle

Pdebee, In your opinion, could John Doyle support an article? I ask because the other members of the band have pages. I ran into Doyle while trying to source the concerts held at Saint Elizabeth of the Hill Country Catholic Church. I don't edit on musicians much. Cheers.E.M.Gregory (talk)

Dear E.M.Gregory;
Thank you for your query. Well, there used to be an article about John Doyle (musician) but it was changed to a redirect at 03:44, on 16 June 2017, due to a request for deletion. If you look at the final version of the article before it was deleted, I think you would conclude that it could certainly have been improved (as I thought at the time); unfortunately, I didn't have any sources required to improve it when it was nominated for deletion, by which time it was too late.
If you wanted to resurrect that article with the goal of improving it, then please consider reading WP:UDP. However, I would first create a draft page or sandbox in user space and accumulate there some reliable sources needed to (re-)build a better version of the article, at least to prove that it is worth going through the effort of requesting its undeletion, during which we might have to persuade other editors that we now have reliable sources (the earlier deletion was justified at the time, because the article was entirely unsourced, perhaps due to a lack of reliable sources). Please beware I have never gone through such an undeletion process; I am simply sharing with you my thoughts on the approach I would adopt if I wanted to have that article re-instated.
By copy to Boleyn: Hello again! ( ); I would be most grateful if you would be so kind as to read the above, and then offer us some advice on how best to proceed, and which guidelines to follow in this case? Thank you very much, as always!
With kind regards for now;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:53, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
  • thanks. With a merged page, I think it would also be possible to build the section on him on the band's page, then, provided the sources were sufficient, split it into a new article.E.M.Gregory (talk) 23:16, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Hello, he should meet WP:MUSICBIO as a member of multiple notable bands - if Solas are notable. There is nothing in the article that says why they are, and the sourcing isn't enough to confirm it either. If that can be improved to show the band is notable, then he would definitely merit an article, but definitely in draftspace first as it was only deleted in 2017. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 16:10, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Dear Boleyn;
Thank you for your helpful reply, as always; I am indebted to you for the time and effort you invested on our behalf yesterday, between 07:07 and 07:20, to assess the potential notability of John Doyle (musician); it's really encouraging to learn that you think he could be notable if the article on Solas could also be improved to demonstrate notability. Thank you so much for your helpful advice here!
To this end, I have found out that the band was featured in an article on Folk Roots, issue #214 (which I have now ordered on eBay),[1] and were also featured in an online biography at the All Celtic Music website,[2] with a more recent review published at The Scotsman's website.[3] I am hopeful to find more sources in the near future.
I had not planned to work on these two articles, as I have no recordings by Solas and am not particularly interested in this band. However, I am motivated to work on resurrecting the article on Doyle (so he can be linked to from Usher's Island), unless E.M.Gregory would like to do the honours? If not, then I'll do it, but will have to improve the article on Solas first and can only start on that one when the Folk Roots magazine (#214) has been delivered to me some time next week, although I could certainly create a draft for Doyle in user space while I am waiting for that.
One final question, please Boleyn: may I contact you when I am done, to ask you for assistance with untangling the redirects etc., once my draft of Doyle is completed? Thank you for your consideration; it will be of great help, as I am hesitant to go anywhere near altering redirects for fear of getting in a muddle!
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:17, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Any time, Pdebee. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 16:12, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
:what years were the Solas active?E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:22, 9 April 2019 (UTC) scratch that , I see: John Doyle (musician) (born 1971), member of band Solas, 1994–2000. Reason I was asking is, do you have access to newspaper archive searches? I could run a few on the band and on Doyle. It probably makes more sense for you to build the articles. You seem to know something about music and bands. But I may be able to get sources that you would have trouble accessing.E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:27, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
I see quite a lot of SIGCOV in major urban dailies of the era. I'll be glad to sent them, if you like.E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:33, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi E.M.Gregory;
Thank you for your prompt reply. Well, it would certainly be most helpful if you would be so kind as to search for sources on both Solas and Doyle, as you proposed to do. For the sake of simplicity, please feel free to accumulate them in this section at my talk page, as they will be picked up by the |{{reflist-talk}} template below; thank you so much for offering; that's great! We can continue to work on this project via my talk page, which we can then copy into the Doyle talk page when its article has been resurrected. I look forward to working with you on this; thanks a lot!!
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:43, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
P.S.:Thank you for the article you've already added in the section below. If at all possible, please kindly provide links to website that don't require registration, so that reviewers and readers alike will be able to satisfy themselves of the reliability of the content that will be added to the two articles; thank you so much for your kind assistance with the provision of these sources!

  • at folkworld.eu: "Karan Casey & John Doyle";[5]

Pdebee, I hope I haven't overwhelmed you. I did try to be selective, but there is no doubt about the notability of this band. Lots more coverage out there. I will be less available than usual for the next several weeks, checking in only intermittently. but I will get back to this. Cheers.E.M.Gregory (talk) 22:39, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Dear E.M.Gregory;
Thank you so much for your excellent hunt for sources so far; I am grateful to you for your sense of collaboration. In the next few days, I will transfer all the content you've added below into two draft user pages (one each for Doyle and Solas) in which I will develop new prose to paraphrase the various sources, as well as their associated references. When that new content is stable, I will transfer the appropriate prose into the existing Solas article and then get it, plus the draft Doyle article, reviewed by our friend Boleyn to make sure it is acceptable for a successful move into main space, and to assist with sorting out the current redirect and undeletion. Thank you for mentioning your limited availability over the next few weeks, which actually suits me fine as it gives me time to make progress on this (and also on some other Wikipedia projects I am nurturing at the moment); I'll give you a heads up when I've made some progress, especially if I end up concluding we need more sources that I can't find. Until then, please keep well, and thanks once again for all your help.
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 18:00, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@E.M.Gregory and Boleyn:
P.S. I have now created the two draft pages I mentioned immediately above:
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 19:34, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm a little puzzled. Are you planning to add inline sourcing to Doyle? Also, I think he was one of the founders of solas, so that it was a major deal whan he left the group. as I said, I'll have time to search and help out next month. Cheers - hope spring is busting out all over wherever you are, it's beautiful here.E.M.Gregory (talk) 11:49, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
@E.M.Gregory: Hello again!  . Thank you for your query. Well, I think the first priority is to improve the current article on Solas and make that conform to notability guidelines. Then, I can focus on the new draft article for Doyle, which will qualify him as notable thanks to the two articles on Solas and Usher's Island. To these ends, here is my proposed sequencing:
  1. consolidate all the sources you graciously supplied and create ref tags with cite templates;
  2. write new prose for Solas by paraphrasing these sources and incorporate this new prose and citations into the Solas article;
  3. have Solas reviewed and further improved until Solas is deemed notable;
  4. develop the new draft on Doyle with improved prose and citations;
  5. have new article on Doyle reviewed and further improved until it is deemed notable.
Hope this approach fits in with your thinking; thank you for any other ideas you would like to suggest.
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 15:59, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
P.S.: Yes, the weather is beautiful here in Pembrokeshire today!

Method for uploading a film poster into Wikipedia

[Copied from Seth Whales’s talk page.)

Dear Seth,
I hope you’re keeping well? In October 2016, you helped me greatly by sending me a step-by-step method for uploading images of album covers into Wikipedia. I wonder if you’d mind if I impose on your kindness again, by asking if there is a similar method for uploading images for films, for example: film posters such as are displayed at the IMDb website? Most Wiki articles for films have such images, and I thought there might be a legal and yet simple method similar to the one you documented for uploading images of album covers.
If so, then I’d be most grateful to you for describing it to me step-by-step, as I can’t find any such instructions on the existing Help articles in Wikipedia. Thank you very much in advance for your assistance with this, Seth, whenever convenient.
With kind regards;

Hi Pdebee,
Great to hear from you again!
I suppose Wikipedia would say, look at WP:FUR then go down to "Necessary components", before you start.
The answer is that yes you can use screenshots/posters of films, exactly the sale way as albums covers.
  • Begin by downloading the poster that you want.
  • Then select "Upload file" (under "Tools" on left hand side of the Home page), then click on "Old guided form" under "Wikipedia".
  • Then select "It is a screenshot taken of a movie, TV program, computer game, web site, computer program, music video, or similar source" (for a screenshot) or "It is a promotional photo from an advertisement, press kit, or similar source" (for a poster).
  • Browse and find the poster that you have downloaded previously.

Dear Yintan,
A few days ago, I reached the anniversary of my first decade as a Wikipedia editor. Seeing as I don’t have many decades left to enjoy, this milestone seemed important to me, and was made all the more meaningful by the undeniable fact that I would not have developed so well as an editor here if I hadn’t had the privilege of being mentored by you in those early days. In your usual way, you didn’t do much more than simply crystallise what’s important for this project: honesty, generosity of effort and spirit, respect for the dignity of others, and adherence to guidelines designed to maximise the value of this project. As I come here to your user page again after such a long time since my last visit, I now find that you have decided to retire. We all need a break from time to time and you’ve done this before. Please take your time, knowing you can always come back refreshed and ready to contribute again and help us with the guidance of your insights; I look forward to that day already, and just want to express my gratitude to you for being there when I needed to be pointed in the right direction; my last decade as a Wikipedian has been a most rewarding joy and I hope still to be here when you return. Until then, please keep well, happy and joyful.
Your friend;

That's very kind of you, thank you; I am always happy to assist. You're doing a grand job on Pembrokeshire (and acronyms...  ). I will continue to keep the article in my watch list and contribute where I can. Please keep well and thank you once again.

Grace Hall Hemingway expansion

Hi Pdebee,

You are the creator of the Grace Hall Hemingway biography. I recently finished the Birthplace of Ernest Hemingway, as you know. Since I have books in my posession at the moment on Ernest and this family, I thought I would expand Grace's biography. The second to the last sentence of Grace's biography, the one that describes Ernest blaming his mother for his father's death. That inspired me to find out more about that sentence (could that really be true?), and try to offer some additional, supporting information.

I would love to get your feedback before I update the existing article. I have a draft, link below, that includes the existing article and my new information. There were so many bits and pieces of info on Grace's life, some not that important, that I focused on fleshing her out more as a person, primarily in terms of her relationship with her family.

If I don't hear back from you in a few days, I will look over my draft and add the new info to her article. I moved to Oak Park last year. That is why I wrote the birthplace article. I was also able to tour the house.

Dear MauraWen,
First of all, very many thanks for your thoughtfulness and courtesy in approaching me as you have done above. Although we often work in isolation, as individual editors, it's always nice for me to team up with like-minded contributors and work constructively on improving the quality of our encyclopedia for the benefit of its readers.
Secondly, I could not be more delighted with your draft contributions so far, which have greatly improved the article already! When I created it, I was working on some completely different aspect of Hemingway's life (at the time) and found it really strange that an article on his mother hadn't been created yet. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough sources to do much more than deliver the 'advanced stub' that you found, and I am therefore very pleased that you've come along and already started to improve it in your current draft. Therefore, please kindly give me until the end of your day tomorrow (Friday 4th), so that I can review it in a meaningful way prior to offering my comments for your consideration, as you requested.
Until then, thank you very much once again for all your wonderful help so far, and thank you also for your patience with me: I am currently in the process of putting the final touches to my latest collection of poems, so it will be really nice to enjoy a break and work with you on real facts!
With kindest regards for now;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(become old fashioned!) 16:29, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
@Pdebee: Hi Patrick, Thanks for your response. Please take your time in looking over the article. I will be away from home until Sunday; I will be only checking my laptop once or twice a day. I am really happy you are interested in collaborating. I was able to visit the special collections room at the Oak Park library to view the materials they had on Hemingway. I know we can only use secondary sources of information, so there was not a lot there I could use. They had mostly primary sources. The library does appear to have all the books written about Ernest Hemingway. I also visited the local historical society, and got a little information.
I was told by one of the librarians that someone had been working on a book on Grace Hall Hemingway, but that was a few years ago, and no book has been published. She was a fascinating woman, I hope someone writes her story. If you are still working on Hemingway in any regard, and need to look at information on his life, Oak Park is a great place to do research. Just let me know if you need anything. I still have my books, so if you feel that I need to expand on anything that I have written on Grace, I can write more content or go back to the library to check out more books. My background is business and not writing, so I struggle sometimes with these articles. I am always happy to get input.
I like having the extra images of Grace and the family in the article. Let me know what you think, and if you think another photo would work better in the infobox. There is a good photo of Grace and Clarence online. If you think that would be a good addition, I can try and find it at the library and scan and upload it to WikiCommons, for use in the article. Also, if you think Clarence Hemingway needs an article, I would like to get your thoughts on the subject.
That is really interesting that you write poetry, I like to write poet biographies on Wikipedia, usually recent award winners. Thru my editing, I have found new poems and poets that have become favorites, I have even started purchasing poetry collections! MauraWen (talk) 17:52, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
@Pdebee: Are you still planning to review Grace Hall Hemingway? I would like to update the existing article on Wednesday. thx MauraWen (talk) 20:27, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Dear MauraWen,
Thank you for your earlier messages; I hope you had a pleasant weekend. Please forgive me for not responding earlier: I saw your lovely message above on Thursday and, since you were going away, I thought I'd wait for your return. However, I developed acute headaches and saw my doctor this morning, who prescribed appropriate medication and X-rays tomorrow afternoon. In any case, my commitment to our joint project remains intact and, having already looked at your changes last week, I feel confident about enabling you to make swift progress after I will have sent you my feedback tomorrow morning my time (it's now bed time, here in the UK). Once again, thank you for your patience with me. More tomorrow, then.
With kindest regards for now;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(become old-fashioned!) 21:37, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Dear Pdebee, Please don't work on this tomorrow. Your health is more important than this article. I will leave the draft until you are feeling better. If you decide you cannot review the article later on, please let me know. I hope your headache goes away quickly. Headaches can be very tricky. A family member had a very severe, acute headache a few years ago. A trip to the Emergency Room (U.S. hospital), many doctor appointments, and different meds did not cure the headaches. It was not until the family member was referred to a neurologist, who immediately recognized the issue as a case of encephalitis (family member had been in Florida), that the headache was properly treated. Good luck on resolving the problem. MauraWen (talk) 22:31, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Dear MauraWen,
Thank you so much for your sweet reply (above) and for your kind concern, as well as your patient offer to postpone our joint project. This is my second day of taking medication and I went to hospital this afternoon to have an X-ray taken of my head and neck. It's too early to say, but the frequency of the pains seems to be diminishing although the episodes, when they do occur, are still quite painful. I am so sorry to hear that your family member had such a protracted experience, and I hope the applied treatment cured the encephalitis. Thank you once again for your kind wishes, Maura.
I have now been able to review your most excellent draft and I hope you will permit me to give you my feedback at your draft article's talk page, which seems the best place for our continued work on this article. After signing off here, I will now continue over there.
With kindest regards for now;

Waltzes Chopin

Dear people,

As for Chopins waltzes I recommend the following  :

In some of the last waltzes of the list are figuring 2 waltzes  :

B major ( 12 Oktober 1848 ) and B-flat major ( 1849 )

Both waltzes are the same ! Dedicated to Mrs. Erskine and in the possession of Arthur Hedley.

According to a book of Peter Willis ( " Chopin in Britain " ) the Hedley collection was in the 1960s divided between a collection on Mallorca and the Frederyk Chopin Museum in Poland. And when this happened this waltz was not included  !

So now the conclusion must be that the Manuscript is lost  !!

Please can you make a change for these 2 waltzes ( in fact only 1 waltz ) ?

Sincerely yours ,

< Dear Patrick , I already did a suggestion about the list of the Chopin waltzes According to the book " Chopin in Britain " by Peter Willis ( December 2017 ) the waltzes B major ( 12 Oktober 1848 ) and B-flat major ( 1849 ) are only 1 waltz  ! Copy Editing Request

Hello Pdebee, I have been working on expanding an article on the 1989 experimental film Begotten for a while now, and I have recently gotten it up to GA status. My goal is to get it up to FA status as soon as possible, however, it requires some copy editing done to it before I can nominate it. I was wondering if you would be able to perform the necessary copy edits to it so I can get the ball rolling for FA nomination. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are or are not able to do it.--Paleface Jack (talk) 18:29, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Dear Jack,
Thank you very much for making contact, and for your request. I'd be delighted to assist and would be able to complete the copy edit review by noon tomorrow, UK time; would that be convenient to you? BTW, in what time zone are you located, please? Here is an earlier example of how I tend to collaborate, but I am happy to fit in with your own preferences. For your project on Begotten, I would use its talk page to communicate with you. Finally, if I decide to apply small changes in content, then I would activate {{in use}} & {{under construction }} templates, and remove them when I'm done; this is to avoid potential edit conflicts. Please let me know if all this suits your purposes or not, and we'll take it from there. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to your initiative.
With kind regards for now;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(become old-fashioned!) 20:00, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Dear Jack,
  Done!
I have just completed the copy editing you requested, which took longer than I anticipated but there was more to do than seemed at first glance. However, I have mainly polished the existing content and most of my changes were tiny things (like straightening curly apostrophes, etc.) and I have attempted to preserve as much as the existing content as possible, while trying to add value to the prose by removing repetitions and streamlining the flow of the text. All my edit summaries will enable you to assess quite easily the changes I have applied and, if there is anything with which you might disagree, then it should be quite straightforward for you to change it back manually, since I don't tend to group too many changes in a single edit. By the way, I have also checked the hyphens in all your 'isbn=' parameters and am very impressed that they were all correct!
I wish you well in your goal to achieve FA, and thank you once again for asking me to participate.
With kind regards:

Looked over the finished copy edits. I'm quite impressed with all the work you did with it. I only have one minor question:
The Influence sub-section you changed it into a list so as to avoid any repetition. Personally, bullet points are an issue for me (with the exception of critics/awards lists, soundtrack, and cast listings). I was wondering if there was another way to do it so that it's in a paragraph format? I can do that myself considering all the work you already put into it. I can't thank you enough for all the help you did. Happy editing!
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Neigborhood editor --Paleface Jack (talk) 01:35, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
To: Jack / Copy: NowIsntItTime
Dear Jack,
So glad that you found my contributions useful; thank you. I would be very happy to have another go at re-writing the Influence sub-section in paragraph format. Another alternative that has occurred to me would be a simple table, but I'll work on the former later today. As I am sure you realize, the previous version of the prose was extremely repetitive and warranted a re-write. But I'll do my best after lunch, in a couple of hours, and will set up the 'in use' templates as usual, to avoid edit conflicts.
Thank you for bringing your preference to my attention; it will be an interesting challenge!
With kind regards for now;

I did a little look around on other FA Class Film articles. If you want you could take a look at that just as a point of reference, I sort of did that when I was referencing and structuring the article. Hope this helps. Thanks for the additional help.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:19, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
Just a heads up, I was working on the Influence section in the article before I saw that you were already working on it. What I came up with was a more simplified version than what I had previously had in the section. My idea I had while I was starting to structure it was to sort the information into artists influenced by the film and similarities between the film and other works that critics have pointed out. I also looked over the sources again and I extracted a quote from artist Zola Jesus. Here is what I had before noticing what you already did (Please note that this is not completely structured yet as I did not get to that part yet) Enjoy!:
In an interview with Muzzeland Press, visual artist and musician Rob Stanley cited the film's dark imagery as one of the influences for his artwork.[1]
American music artist Zola Jesus, and lead singer Dimitri Giannopoulos, from the American rock band Horse Jumper Of Love, have stated during interviews that Begotten was a major influence on their more recent albums. When giving a list of artists that influenced her 2017 music album Okovi, Jesus listed the film as a major inspiration, writing, “for months on end I had E. Elias Merhige’s 1990 film Begotten on loop. I’d sit in my dark room being lit by nothing but the screen’s caustic frames. It was my closest friend during my darkest moments and a scream I couldn’t let out on my own. I’ve never felt so directly inspired by a piece of art before.”[2]

Dear Jack,
Thank you for your two updates in the above posts (indented, per WP:THREAD). As you probably noticed, I decided to restore your original prose and start again. In addition to straightening curly apostrophes and quotation marks, I first restructured everything in chronological order and kept the influences on the music world segregated in the final paragraph.
I then copy edited your original prose, trying to keep as much as possible while essentially reducing the elements of obvious repetition, thus trying to give the resulting text a pleasant and easy flow. Finally, I incorporated the latest prose suggestions you included above, and I therefore think we're done.
If you wish to make more changes, then please feel free to go ahead, and I'll keep the article in my watchlist for now. Of course, I remain happy to assist some more if necessary.
Best wishes of good luck for FA, and please keep well and happy.
With kind regards;

Thanks for the hard work. After I get this and several others run through GA and FA status I might collaborate with you on some other articles.--Paleface Jack (talk) 23:40, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Remembering Brian Boulton

Dear colleagues,
I wanted to create something by which those of us who have had the pleasure of working with him could commemorate our friend Brian Boulton, who died peacefully on 9 December. Although userboxes are often used for frivolous reasons, it occurred to me that it would be meaningful simply to display the following userbox on our user pages:

 This Wikipedian remembers
