Notability of Forest Lee

Non-notable manager at an academic institution. Does not appear to publish academically. No independent indepth coverage as required by WP:GNG.

Status and warning

Actually, the article was a copyvio &, As reviewing administrator, I have deleted it as such. Wikipedia does not accept material copied from other websites. This is the second time you've submitted the same thing--do not do it again, or you are very likely to be blocked.

In any case, a Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. The relevant standard are WP:BIO or, alternatively, WP:PROF. If you cannot find sources for meeting one or the other, there's no point writing the article. DGG ( talk ) 22:44, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I see your note on my talk page. If you think you can meet WP:PROF, by all means try again, I agree he is likely to be notable, but I think it will be difficult to prove it. That he is one of the authors on these widely-cited multi-author papers is not by itself enough to show notability: it is very difficult to ascribe the actual role in such projects without some specific evidence. How can we tell if he is the administrator under whom the work was done, the person who wrote the programs, the person who adapted pre-esiting program in a substantial or perhaps just a technical role, or what among a whole range of possibilities?

Just rewrite the article in your own words entirely--looking to see how you will meet the likely objections that running the lab is not itself notable, and the role in the work unproven. It won't be up to me. The best way of avoiding Close paraphrase is to try to change not just the wording, but the sentence structure and the sequence of ideas. Admittedly, in a bio like this some of the wording will be invariable and unavoidable, but change as much as can possibly be changed. Then , at the end look to see if it appears the same, which also matters to the way people will judge it. With respect to notability , the decision will not be up to me.

Continuing problem: Unless he was the person who conceived and led these projects, it is not quite correct that "Cuff completed the first simultaneous genome analysis of twenty nine mammals[2], the refinement of the human gene count[3], and the first bivalent chromatin structures to be found in embryonic stem cells[4]." He was, rather, a member of the very large groups that did this. The best information about what he actually did seems to be given on his page at the Conte Center: At Sanger, "he built the large scale high performance computing infrastructure to support the Ensembl genome analysis project." I assume he is responsible for the same in his later work at Harvard. Is there a specific author contributions note that clarifies this for the later work? Now, as far as I personally am concerned, I consider him notable, but think on the basis of experience that the community at Wikipedia will not do so unless there is something more specific. You will face the argument: what is the evidence that he is more than a senior technician, given a place on the author list because the technical services developed by his center were used in the project? Rewrite it, and move it to main space if you like, and take your chances. or find some better evidence , and there will be an article that will be kept in Wikipedia.
