Taboo Tuesday

Hey mate, thanks for updating the Taboo Tuesday page - but do you think it should be a plural?

Not really because its one single championship in a tag team devision, i would consider it to be a plural if it was mentioned as tag team title i would then rewrite it as tag team titles. you can change it to a plural if you want, it doesnt make much difference.

The Wikipedia:naming conventions say that the singular should be preferred unless it always appears in the plural (like "scissors"). Remember, you can always type [[WWE Cyber Sunday|Taboo Tuesday]]s to get Taboo Tuesdays, but there's no shorthand to derive the singular from Taboo Tuesdays short of typing out [[WWE Cyber Sunday|Taboo Tuesday]] in its entirety. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Images

When uploading images please always edit the image description page and do two things:

1. State the source of the image (the address of a web page, the title of the book or "I created this image myself.")
2. State the copyright. The easiest way to list the copyright is to use a copyright tag. The most important tags are {{GFDL}}, {{PD}}, and {{fairuse}}. GFDL is for images that you create yourself. PD is for public domain images (either pre-1923 or released by the copyright holder). Fair use is for copyrighted images that we can use under the fair use rules in the USA.

Without proper source and copyright information, images will eventually be deleted!

You can view the image description page by clicking on an image, and edit it like any other wikipedia page: by clicking on the "edit this page" tab.

Naming conventions

Hey... I noticed that you've been doing some good work these professional wrestling articles and I was wondering what you thought the naming conventions for the wrestler articles. Most of them seem to go by the wrestler's real names, which is counterintuitive, especially when browsing through the list Category:Professional wrestlers. This is particularly odd for wrestlers who have been using one performance name for most of their career, especially The Undertaker. We should probably move them to the pages of their performance names in accordance with Wikipedia Naming conventions and then redirect the real name to the proper article. I understand what you mean, the amount of times i have wanted to know the correct link for a wrestler and i have forgotten their real name, but naming them by their gimmick, that can only really depends on the on the wrestler in question. In most cases I would agree with you, esspecially if they have used the gimmick for the main of their career. Thats why we have articles like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Big Daddy etc, but their as some problems eith this idea. wrestling is an ever changing business, with gimmicks that change just as fast, and if articles were made under the gimmick names we would gain, more, gimmick specific articles, like Dude Love. Also most wrestlers these days either go by thier real names (be it with some minor spelling differences), or they are better known by there real names. Actually the reason we have Stone Cold Steve Austin is because there is already a wrestler under Steve Williams (wrestler). Anyways. It would be nice if gimmick redirect pages could include a category, eg CM Punk would still redirect to Phil Brooks, but it would also be listed in Category:Professional wrestlers. But redirects are only parsed if they are the first line, and wikipedia doesn't seem to parse anything after them. Perhaps we need a feature request. If this would work I would vote for having all wrestler pages to be under real names. Don't know how the two Steve Williamses should be then listed as, though.

I got a feeling you will find that Steve Williams (wrestler) was created long after the Stone Cold article was made. For another possible idea maybe when adding a cat to profiles may be we should list them as their gimmick (if its a long term well established one) i.e. on the Phil Brooks page we use Category:Professional wrestlers|CM Punk --- Paulley 19:40, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

One possibility would be if we could include an article under two names in a Category, but doesn't seem like it's possible at the moment.

One thing that I've found is interesting is that other celebrities are listed under their stage names, such as Natalie Portman. I think the standard we should hold wrestlers to is that if they're retired or well established under a certain gimmick name (ie. Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, Wahoo, Undertaker) then they should be listed under their gimmick name. If they are just as well known under their real name or still early in their careers, they should be listed under their real names.

NWA Titles

NWA Titles

I see you have been creating many Championship articles, which is a great help. you seem to have a good knowledge of these titles and i wondered if you could do me the favour of recreating the NWA World Tag Team Championship page and putting its titles history in the List of NWA World Tag Team Champions. Tag team

What was the purpose of making a copypaste of tag team at Tag Team wrestling and then replacing the former with a POV (and inaccurate: tag teams are not usually considered stables, although they may be affiliated with stables) stub without an edit summary or a note on the talk page? I can't see any reason for a breakout. Also, "Tag Team wrestling" is a bad title, as "tag team" is not a proper noun and should not be capitalized. — Gwalla | Talk 20:32, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

• Sorry, i ended up being late for work and never got to finish it properly, thats why it had no summary or msg on its talk page for which i apologise.
• The current tag team page doesnt look into the reasons why tag teams are created, it doesnt even clearly establish what a tag team is, it looks more at the rules of tag team matches and wrestling as a tag team and not of team itself...this is why i wished to place the info of that article into one entitled tag team wrestling, but this name has an article (if i had a chance i would have moved that to "tag team wrestling (game)")... I understand that if it has more information (such as who first popularized a move, or who learned it from whom), then you can keep it in a stable paragraph, but if it just says:

"Chris Harris also uses this move in which he calls the Catatonic. Billy Gunn uses this move and he calls is the Gunn Slinger. Victoria uses the move and calls it the Spider's Web."

The last one of which is a different move (i did write an explanation of her variation, but it was reverted along with my other edits). I see no problem in not wasting the space and changing it to

"Notable users include: Chris Harris (Catatonic), Billy Gunn (Gunn Slinger)."

Yes I agree with you. He once removed my answer and redid his question. I did tell him not to do it again. I have noticed that he doesn't think before he posts, and frequently find that when I answer him I get an edit conflict because he has changed his post. Hi Paulley. I've noticed you've been uploading some photos using the {{promophoto}} tag. Some of these images like Image:SuperHeros.jpg are from Obsessed with Wrestling's website and are clearly not promotional photos. It's alright. If it's a screenshot, Template:film-screenshot should work, otherwise Template:Non-free fair use in should be good, explaining that the image is used for descriptive purposes - just remember to include the article name after the "|" character while invoking the tag. Well Cena's F-U hasn't really been consistent. I've never seen him do a Samoan Driver (not surprising, haven't seen that much of him), but have seen him use the Fireman's carry powerslam several times, which seems to be what he currently uses. If he was using the Samoan Driver currently he would have to sit down. It's a powerslam because he lands on his knees and ontop of his opponent, like a front powerslam. [1] seems to be the only photo of him performing the move that I can find.

Yeah I was wondering about the naming of the "Samoan Driver." I always thought that it was named after Rikishi. The move he performs is certainly an "over shoulder reverse piledriver". Just wasn't sure what the naming should be. The name comes from a WWE game? The Rikishi/Bam Bam variant certainly should be in the Piledriver page and the other one in the throws page.

If you have actual information about the dispute, please feel free to post it. However, the edits you have made to the page thus far are considered vandalism, and you haven't backed up your claims with any citations or actual information. Wikipedia is not a forum for airing personal grievances. Also, I don't know how you think there's a copyright issue here, as the article has been written independently by several contributers, not copied from any source. And it's hardly a shill page - there is, in fact, already information about other controversies involving the Dave Nelson version of WWWA. If you want to make actual contributions to the article about this controversy, I'm sure everyone would be happy to have it - provided you do it without vandalism and within Wikipedia guidelines. Sorry, but I do not vandalize, I set the record STRAIGHT. There is only ONE WWWA. NWA Ohio has S-T-O-L-E-N the World Wide Wrestling Alliance name, a name copywritten and trademarked by the Federal Gov't. That is where the copyright issue with the page lies. That alone makes Wikipedia cuplable for allowing false and mis;leading content to be on its website. The facts have been displayed, yet some are just too LAZY to see for themselves. Get it right or take the whole page down altogether!

WWWA Webmaster

Names are covered by trademark law, not copyright. And anyway, there's no trademark issue either; providing an informational article which mentions a trademarked name claimed, validly or otherwise, but a certain group, is well within fair use. If you're going to make legal claims, perhaps you should do some research so you know what you're talking about.

In any case, even if everything you've said is true, it's still not appropriate for Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. And regardless of who's right and who's wrong in your dispute, the fact is, there's an organization out there owned by Dave Nelson that has claimed the name WWWA, and has attracted a lot of notice, most of it negative, under that name. That's notable and worthy of an article.

Here's the thing: the legal dispute you're so upset about is also notable and worthy of mention in an article. If you want to include information in the article about it, that's *great* - you just need to do it in accordance with NPOV guidelines, without vandalizing previously submitted information, and with your sources cited. The problem isn't that Wikipedians are against you, have any particular sympathy for Dave Nelson (hell, I'm the one who added information about his lying about ESPN to the article!), or are engaged in a conspiracy to silence you - it's just that Wikipedia is a long-established community with established guidelines for how articles should be written. The NPOV article I linked to above is a good example of these guidelines. If you want to read that and contribute in a civil manner, welcome to Wikipedia. If not, your vandalism of articles will continue to be reverted.

Thanxs, there is lots of disscussion on that subject and it's something that is raised all the time. In my oppinion redirect cost nothing and most of the time experienced wikipedians place the link to a wrestler article under real names (check Lord Littlebrook's what links here list)

well first off you cut & pasted the article which is a big NO NO doing this deletes the article history... The Heartthrobs now is disambiguation page the links to the brit rock band while The Heart Throbs is the WWE teams page with your created The Heartthrobs (WWE) redirecting to it... if you will note the names are spelt differently and so the WWE team needs not to be moved to a name which in itself is spelt wrong as Heart Throps is two words not one --- Paulley 12:33, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey, yeah I just added a comment to the list of WWF/E hardcore champions that the list is incomplete. I believe Levy mentioned the 39 times in some interview, there was a credible source I remember that I saw once when the info was first added. I was thinking that the list page doesn't list house show changes or something, considering that the belt had the 24/7-rule for a while it probably changed hands more frequently.

I couldn't find the interview anymore, but his official site seems to list his reigns as 27. [2]. The list also lists the dates, so it should be rather easy to figure out which one is missing from the list of champions. There was a listing in the trivia section claiming he had claimed it to be 39, but since his official site also lists it as 27 I removed that.
