I agree about the learning curve for new editors. There are people here who wish to write articles, and there are people here who wish to write (and enforce) rules. The latter have caused a situation that discourages new editors. The most important rule is to find a good source (book, newspaper, academic journal) and to cite it when making changes to articles. Take a look at how to cite a source, then you will be fine. If anyone gives you a hard time or if you have any questions, please let me know. Again, welcome! Thank you, I will take a look. I work primarily with freshmen in the natural sciences. We invest a lot of time teaching (trying to teach) them the difference between what is reliable and verifiable (!) and hearsay, between disproof (science) and proof(religion).

This, obviously, precludes the use of sources which are as easily vulnerable to damage as Wikipedia is. I'll read the article and learn from it. Thanks, again.

Question

I was confused what you meant by, "Too many LGBT editors and fair admins. were spending too much time fighting prejudice against me as an IP." Could you expound on this, because I'm having trouble making correct sense of it. If you don't wish to, that's no problem at all. Thank you! Doc talk 23:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Skype

Did you even read the link you re-added to the Skype article? it's a barely coherent (english is clearly not the writer's first language) linkspam blog - this is the first line of the link:

Huh? it's an external link - how am I going to 'clean it up"? It seems to me that you seem to think you reverted back in some content rather than a low quality spam link - are you actually reading what you are reverting or just hitting buttons? --Cameron Scott (talk) 12:02, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Double huh - Your refusal to even consider cleaning up what was not the best English in the article is, however, not worth doing battle over. it is an external link, I cannot clean up the content of an external website. Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Pauci. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14–16

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.
