The reason it falls under speedy deletion is because it reads exactly like an advert would. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and therefore neutral, which is why articles that are blatent advertising get deleted. However, I suspect that even if you were to improve the article so it was no longer an advert, the company in question would fail Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and the article would get deleted for not meeting these. Unless you can find several reputable sources for the article (see our guidelines on attribution), then I'm afraid this will probably get deleted by an administrator within a short amount of time. -Panser Born- (talk) 09:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC) Thanks for your advice what counts as reputable source ? We have certain notability guidelines for people here at Wikipedia (and, funnily enough, one specifically for pornographic actors), which you can find here (for general guidelines concerning people, take a look here). First, that wasn't me. Second, I didn't post the images or put them into the article. I have reviewed the policy and see no possible way that fair-use can be used to justify just about any image on the wiki except for a very few instances, particularly in this instance since "critical commentary" would be viewed as POV, at least as most people would understand "critical" being an evaluation of the product, rather than a history of it. The box art is iconic, as far as anyone who ever played this game is concerned, but that may be a stretch for other editors that never have. Kesmai, the company who produced the game originally is now defunct, purchased by Electronic Arts, who killed the game. So, my question is, what could possibly be a satisfactory "fair-use rationale" that would justify these images not being deleted? --Born2flie 17:10, 22 April 2007 (UTC) Really there should only be one box cover image in the whole of the article, and certainly not just thrown in with some other images at the bottom of the page, as ideally the fair use image should be discussed in the article in order to warrant its inclusion. My advice is to first take a look at this box art of Half Life 2 for an idea of what kind of fair use rationale would be acceptable. Next, give the Air Warrior article an infobox, like on the Half Life 2 article. Finally, pick the box art you wish to use in the infobox, and take the part of the fair use rationale from the Half Life 2 box art that applies to the Air Warrior box art, and use that. Apparantly it's possible to replace the {{unreferenced}} template with {{unreferencedsect}} when the editor enters {{unreferenced|section}}. I've been around for quite some time and I didn't even know that template had a possible variable attached. My main reason for making the addition is to make the other templates more visible so {{unreferenced}} doesn't get misused (meaning hundreds of articles get mistagged as unreferenced when they're really not unreferenced at all). While it is indeed true that I went through your image upload log checking all your images, it is only because I found most of them to be in need of attention (i.e. requiring a fair use rationale). My intention certainly wasn't to overwhelm you, and I took extreme care not to do it stealthily - you'll find that I notified you about all of the images on your talk page, and also placed notices about speedy deletion on the captions of the images in every article they appeared in, to ensure as many people as possible knew the images were up for deletion, so they could do something about it. My intention was not to get the images deleted, but merely to make sure they were properly licensed, as the fair usage policy is very strict in this respect. Regarding the amount of time you were given, it takes 7 days before any "speedy" deletion image gets deleted, and even after that there is a backlog of roughly 10 days, which seems to me to be a fair amount of time considering we're dealing with potential copyright infringement. The band has been incorrectly labeled a sub genre that it does not fit into. The reference used has incorrect information on it as well and should be disregarded as such. The speed metal and heavy metal tags do not fit with the band. As the band is not a metal band. This is a nu-metal/rock band. The speed metal tag was given to the band when this sub-genre is a genre that died in the 80s. Note their official myspace page refers to them a "metal/rock/latin" band. http://www.myspace.com/illnino. The speed metal article on wikipedia also does a good job of clarifying what it is and bands that play the style. Unless you can find a reputable source that specifically says the band are not one of the genres listed on the page, then I'm afraid you cannot remove the information, because removing cited information is vandalism, whether you intend it to be or not. The fact that the band consider themselves as metal / rock / latin is irrelevant; for example, the band Disturbed consider themselves hard rock and nothing else, but they are listed under multiple genres at their article. I use the version based in a command-line interface, but I believe there's a GUI version somewhere - it says something about that in the the program's article. The compression amount varies depending on the image, but for logos and such it normally works quite well. Regarding the dispute as to what genre the band should be, if you want to change the genre, just find a reference that backs up the genre you're adding. If you read Wikipedia's guidelines on citing sources, you'll notice that it says a reliable source is a "credible published material", which a concert announcement and forum post most certainly are not, especially for something as important as a record label change. I have read the guidelines carefully, and believe that this image qualifies for uploading onto the English Wikipedia under the "Non-free fair use" clause because there appears to be no free-use photograph of this subject; the relevant Wikipedia policy is as follows: "Non-free media can only be used on Wikipedia if it is not possible to replace such copyrighted work with a free work of acceptable quality." Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, accessed today. Please read the rationale that I submitted along with the image, as per the Wikiepedia stated policy. Am I understanding the policy wrong?
