I've added a generic rationale. I think it doesn't need to be anything special, just needs to say that it's used to illustrate the article, and it's good to mention that the site is defunct. I don't know about a source. Maybe if you could remember the old URL you could add it. I'd don't mind meeting you half way because I'm not out to have images deleted, just "fixed".
