Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, PadmashreeGhangale. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Vijay Kumbhar, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 18:29, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello C.Fred. My request is on behalf of Vijay Kumbhar to undelete his page. I will not make any edits to his page as I fully understand the conflict of interest policy. His notability is established through several reliable sources. His area of work is instrumental to the citizens of India to access their fundamental right to information. The reasons for undeletion are substantial vs the reasons for deletion. Please review the page and the sources. I do not intend to advertise, publicize, or promote him or his work.
On the one hand, as far as undeleting the page, my answer is no. The community discussed Kumbhar's notability two years ago and found that there was not substantial coverage of him in reliable sources. I do not see any flaws in the deletion discussion.
On the other hand, if Kumbhar has done something to make him a notable person in the past two years, then it may be time to (re)start an article on him. However, rather than create the article outright, I would suggest it start at Draft:Vijay Kumbhar. When/if his notability is demonstrated through coverage in reliable sources, then we could move the page back to the main encyclopedia. However, I don't see anything that tells me an article would be ready for mainspace right now. —C.Fred (talk) 19:29, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
C.Fred, this one (not enough in itself of course) [1] seems decent to me, what do you think? It's independent of the subject, seems reliable and is more than a passing mention/quote by subject. If we have a few more like that (or better), I think it could work. This Attacks on RTI activists in India may be related. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:31, 14 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
This [2] seems ok too. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:46, 14 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you C.Fred. May I please request the link to see what reasons and which sources were unreliable or outdated for mainspace? (Sole coverage is trivial and is limited to a few mentions of name in different RS.) RTI activists have been mainspace for decades and are as relevant in society now as they were in the past. This RTI activist has successfully brought a number of companies to justice and has also been harassed for his resolve. The coverage he has received [3] is a full article describing his instrumental role in the incident (by no means trivial). Every article I have submitted for review describes his work as a successful RTI activist in the concerned case. Without his involvment, none of these scams would have been exposed as they were all based on the information he procured. Vijay Kumbhar's recent involvement in activism can be verified through [4] [5] His past achievements are significant as they assisted justice in the Supreme Court of India against [[6]] a Political Leader of Maharashtra [7][8]PadmashreeGhangale (talk) 15:31, 14 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank youGråbergs Gråa Sång

Dear Vijay Kumbhar has been active as a renowned RTI activist in Pune. Every Sunday there is an informal meet led by Vijay Kumbhar and information about that can also be found in the sources provided. DSK fraud [9]is a recent event in Pune and affects thousands of poor investors who have lost all their money. Vijay Kumbhar and his ongoing work has been covered extensively by news media. His work has brought influential leaders like [10] to justice in the Supreme court. His page on Wikipedia facilitated many citizens in accessing their rights. Since there are very weak reasons to delete this page, I request to undelete the page and edit what may not be relevant. Thank you PadmashreeGhangale (talk) 15:31, 14 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

May 2019 edit

  Hello, I'm NitinMlk. I noticed that you recently removed content from Manohar Joshi without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hello, Padmashree. My concern was regarding the reference removed by you with this edit, which was later reinstated by me with this edit. That reference is there to show that he self-identifies as a Brahman: this project requires self-identification for caste-related details in BLPs. And, of course, you should give edit summaries, as they are helpful. - NitinMlk (talk) 21:46, 18 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
