Speedy deletion nomination of User:PAFOC

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:PAFOC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion

edit

This page should not be speedily deleted because it is the page for the association account this represents. The page accurately represents the association web page at pafoc.us. --PAFOC (talk) 03:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 05:18, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
As a new user, I was not clear what the UserPage is for; I thought it was an actual UserPage, a place to let visitors know who is behind the account. If Wiki intends for the UserPage to simply have stats and references to contributions submitted, I can do that.
This account is not used for promotion of Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Constables, however I thought it would be a benefit for readers to at least know any contributions made are from real sworn, active, and serving PA State Constables.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

If Wiki wants the account name to be generic and not referring to any organization, is it acceptable to change to just "PennsylvaniaConstables".

Decline reason:

No, that username would still violate WP:USERNAME. Nor have you addresed your violation of WP:COI and WP:PROMO. Note that shared accounts are not permitted here. You need to specifically state only a single person has and will ever have access to this account. Yamla (talk) 16:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The PAFOC is an all volunteer organization of PA State Constables. We receive no compensation for serving on the board. The members of our board are elected by other Constables who are members.
It's important to us that true and accurate information is being posted to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_State_Constables. We're not against the sharing of information that may be perceived as negative of PA State Constables but we do want the information to be truthful and complete. Recently someone has been deleting and/or posting misinformation to this page and in at least one case, may lead a Constable who uses this page as a source and is unaware of the law to violating the law, so I made the change to remove that risk.
Our contributions will only be to correct any misinformation by pointing to law, case history, or case disposition. Our contributions are also done by consensus. We discuss as a board and even have our counsel review and approve. PAFOC (talk) 15:21, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Since your unblock request was declined, you will have to open a new one at the bottom of this page using the {{unblock-spamun}} template. As stated above, Wikipedia accounts are for individuals, and you must assure us that you personally have sole access to this account. Sharing access to an account with others is prohibited, and evidence of shared use will result in a permanent block.
Continuing on that same thought... since accounts are meant for individuals, the account name must reflect individual use. The name "PennsylvaniaConstables" does not conform to that standard. Please try another name. An acceptable variation is something like "John Doe at PA State Constables", as this clearly denotes an individual.
Since you are involved with this organization, you have an inherent conflict of interest editing the article about it. Wikipedia has a plain and simple conflict of interest guide for editors in your position. You should also learn the process of how to make edit requests, which is the preferred way for editors with conflicts of interest to request changes. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:36, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It seems there's no remedy in sight for this situation. As a newcomer to Wiki, the responses I've received haven't been conducive to resolving issues. Despite my efforts as a new user to address any concerns, the arbitrary alteration of alleged violations and the insistence on providing proof feels somewhat oppressive.
As Constables, we'll endeavor to correct any misinformation on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_State_Constables page. However, we'll also caution others that the page isn't a reliable source for Constables and may contain unlawful information that Constables shouldn't adhere to. This caution arises because Wikipedia administrators permit the vandalism of the page by individuals with conflicts of interest or malicious intent, yet they restrict members of an actual Constables organization from making corrections simply because I openly disclosed my affiliation. Your policy fosters a misleading perception of an absence of users with conflicts of interest. PAFOC (talk) 16:56, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
