Sure. But given the IP's behavior I think any admin already have the possiblity to just block the IP, without needing to create a RFC. I just blocked it for a week more; the only reason I didn't make it longer is the chance that somebody else gets the IP assigned in the future. If he comes back and vandalizes just a single time more I think blocking for a month would be in order, again just based on the blocking policy, without the need for a RFC.

You can use Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism if you see a user/IP which should be blocked. Thue | talk 07:48, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hared

Actually, only in a colloquial sense has "chared" come to mean "fear" alone (see, for example, Exodus 18:19, where it clearly means "tremble"). The reason for the colloquial usage is obvious: Frequently, people often tremble out of fear or dread. In fact, the word is commonly used in the context of trembling out of fear. Nothing, including the sources you mentioned, contravenes translating as this word as "tremble." The article already mentions that Haredi means one who trembles out of fear. Categories

Hi, -- Re categories; mostly I try to organize categories so that they have 150 or fewer articles in them. I don't mind if articles are in multiple categories, as long as they don't also appear in the parent category. Since "number theory" is potentially a huge category, I'd prefer to use it for articles that "don't fit anywhere else" or are "so important, they should be headliners". linas 00:01, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi there! Your speedy deletion tag on All about networking should probably have been a {{copyvio}} tag, so I changed it over. Being "non-encycloepdic" is not a speedy criterion (per WP:CSD), and should be taken to VFD, and being copyright violation has a separate process. You were blocked because you refused to follow Wikipedia policies, despite several warnings. Instead of discussing your article and the Speedy Delete notice with me (or any admin), you just went and removed the Speedy Delete notice. Then you started a revert war on Concord West.

The reason your Carl Singebricks article was deleted was not because I thought it was about yourself, but because it met criterion A7 of the speedy deletion policy:

An article about a real person that does not assert that person's importance or significance.

Read my note again: I said "If this article is about yourself, please move it to your User page."

Whether I'm a "Wikipedia Nazi" or not, you'll find that if you keep engaging in revert wars or arbitrarily removing tags placed by others, you'd keep getting blocked and eventually kicked out of this community. Yes, it was intentional: the notice at the top of the page indicates that the IP is shared by many users, there's no reason to keep all those old warnings, and they would probably confuse the person whom I intended to warn. Meaning of Tetragrammaton

Hello,

Another Hebrew question:

I am was once a redirect to God, created by User:Sam Spade, on the grounds that the English translation of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton was "I am". However, our own Wikipedia article on it says that the meaning of these four Hebrew characters is very much open to interpretation, rather than having a simple "I am" translation.

The I am page is now a disambiguation page. I have posted a comment at Talk:I am... perhaps you can supply some authoritative information?

I actually didn't object to the neutrality of the new wording. The old wording and the new wording seem to be trying to say something along the same lines. However, the new wording refers to vanilla sex, which does not seem to be contextually correct. Vanilla sex, according to the article on the subject, implies plain sex, which does not look like how it is being used. I'm really not familiar with BDSM or the term Vanilla Sex, so if you think the new wording was better, feel free to revert back to it. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 02:19, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

Your courtesy in enquiring if I could create an account is appreciated and is the kind of attitude required for Wikipedia to work. In fact I have been adding articles to Wikipedia since 2001 and am delighted that many of my early entries such as 'kangaroo' have matured into fine articles. However, Wikipedia also has a weakness, which is if a subject becomes of interest to a clique of bigot Wikipedians and there are more members (including sock puppets) of that clique than there are real writers for the subject.

For a popular subject such as 'Jerusalem' there were more Wikipedians than trouble makes, and so a revert-war would always end in the bigots lossing their attempted control of the article. But in the case of a little known or understood subject such as 'West Papua' there were 3 bigots (plus a sock puppet when needed) against only two real authors; so the bigots were able to maintain control of the subject and cast the 'black' people as dumb natives too stupid to be able to do what the American forefathers had done in the eighteenth century.

Although I eventually managed to get another Wikipedian to help attempt a 'mediation', they like other genuine Wikipedians did not want to contribute to the articles content because they did not know about the subject themselves. This of course did not stop the clique who admitted they'd never heard of West Papua before they noticed its title in the recent changes one day.

As you would know, it takes a great deal of time & effort to write a quality balanced article; and I simply have much more important things to do with my time. My work has probably been critical in getting the US Congress to write Section 1115, and will save many many thousands of West Papuan lives and their cultures.

Normally, I would not consider a section of some US Bill to warrent a Wikipedia article; however in this case there is a concerted effort by the Indonesian government and senior members of the US government to overturn the Congress and Senate majority and keep the US public from hearing about the issue. I therefore decided that an article about Section 1115 was in line with what Jimbo Wales has specified as an important part of its function.

Where do you see a page for Coors Light? All I see there now is a redirect to Coors Brewing Company, which is exactly what I did with the C.E.G. I believe you! I am sure that in real life you can stand your ground, present your opinion, and get your thought across to your audience. However, here on Wikipedia, we have seen very little of that. You concentrate your efforts on editing articles, which is—without doubt—the most important job here. We don't have any way to gauge your conversational abilities, or the manner in which you treat people, based on what we've seen on WP. I find the terse way in which you answered the RfA questions troubling, especially considering this is a self-nomination. I could be wrong, but my guess is that you'd find the amount of correspondence required from you as a WP admin simply overwhelming. Owen X-- I don't understand--I did not mean to commit any kind of "vandalism", so I don't understand why you deleted my well-intentioned edit with the comment: "rvv and bump counter. that was pointless, wasn't it?", when all I did was delete the part of the top of the page that looks like it has been overwritten and is barely legible. I thought that that was what you meant by your page having been vandalized 9 times (or so), and to please "revert" if any vandalism was noticed (thus giving your permission). Have you seen what the top of the page looks like--it looks terrible. I just wanted to help; it looked much nicer afterwards. I think you need to take a look at the top of your page and see what has been overwritten and illegible.

Dancing Links

You added a notice to Dancing Links saying it should be merged with linked list. Why? Dancing Links is a particular algorithm that uses linked lists. Please explain the reasoning behind your merge request, as it makes no sense to me. --Graue 03:03, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

The article in its current form is just a one-sentence definition. If it can be expanded into more than that, it makes sense to leave it on its own. Otherwise, I'd rather add it as a one-line external link (to Knuth's article) on the Linked list page. Please note that other than a comment in Sudoku, nothing links (sorry about the pun...) to this article. On Linked list, at least people would find it. I have created a new article, called exact cover. (Perhaps it should instead be named "exact cover problem"? I used the name "exact cover" because that is what was used in List_of_NP-complete_problems.) The only reason I mention that I created this article is because it now has a link pointing to the Dancing Links article. (I just read Donald Knuth's paper for the first time today; pretty cool!) I'm not sure however what Knuth meant by "dancing links": was the name meant to refer specifically to his algorithm that solved the exact cover problem, or is it meant to be a general term referring to nodes popping in and out of existence in a linked list?
