Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited R.F. Tapsell, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Royal and Administration. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:30, 1 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi HasteurBot, I lost interest in this article when nothing I seemed to do was good enough. Quite discouraging. I notice that another article about Ana Cabrera is now out, featuring similar information but less than half the size with a third of the sources I cited is okay, but mine was not. I later saw a tiny article on the (then) new husband of Piper Perabo that was insignificant by comparison to my piece was acceptable. but mine was not. I frankly found the whole episode to be subjective and not objective at all. This is not aimed at you specifically but the process. All the best! Outrider11

Thank you for this information. I have been tasked by the Department to update this page. I am an employee of the department and have been given permission to use this specific photograph of Chief Brown (although I want to make the image smaller so it is a thumbnail). I did not take the photo, which come from our PR Unit, but I need to somehow have the photo authorized by you to be used with this page. Your criteria for uploading images was a little confusing because none of the options fit exactly what my situation was. So please help me to get this photo okayed for use. Please let me know what I have to do. Outrider11 (talk) 13:55, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest and promotional editing

edit

  Hello, Outrider11. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Salt Lake City Police Department, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 15:16, 3 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Melcous, this is an article about an organization. An organization that I know intimately and the information I obtain about that organization comes from its leadership. I don't put up my opinions, but information that has been forwarded to me or edited by others of a higher rank. If I am reading correctly what you say, a person working for an organization cannot write about that organization due to some nefarious possible conflict of interest, even if someone in my position knows that organization inside and out? is that correct? Who better to provide such information? Is an article about Apple not written by Apple people? Are all the articles written about other American and foreign police departments not written by persons within those departments, probably PR people who are trained to do so? This is intended to be an informational piece not an ad or promotion. I am already doing my best, as are my colleagues, to comply with Wikipedia's policies, I am just a little baffled about how what we have done (mainly me) is against them. I am happy to state who I am and that I am part of the organization. Oh and I forgot, when I started updating this article, much of the information was a decade out of date. I would like to think has significantly improved. Outrider11.
