Speedy deletion nomination of User:OutofBounds2019Film

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:OutofBounds2019Film, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. –eggofreasontalk 18:04, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "OutofBounds2019Film", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames which appear to be intended t represent a particular group or organization, or to promote a particular product or event, etc. are not allowed per WP:PROMONAME. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:45, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Hello, OutofBounds2019Film, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Out of Bounds (2019 film), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:46, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've added the above template for general reference because it contains links (the items in blue) to Wikipedia pages which you might find helpful. Just going by your choice of username, it appears that you do have some connection to the film that goes beyond the mere casual and may even be financial in some way. If that's truly the case, then you need to carefully read through Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and follow the guidelines listed there. Wikipedia doesn't expressly prohibit conflict-of-interest or paid editing, but it does highly discourage both and paid-editing does require compliance with Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. This last part is very important because if you fail to comply with it, an administrator may immediately decide to block your account. Since you're only currently working on a draft for an article, you can continue doing so as long as you comply with relevant policies and guidelines and keep submitting your draft for Articles for Creation review when he think it's ready; you should, however, disclose any conflict of interest you have on your user page and also change your username asap as explained above in #Your username. You might also wish to look at Wikipedia:Your first article for some general information as well as Wikipedia:Notability (films) for some specific information about writing Wikipedia articles about films.
Finally, If you're connected to this film, you might be much better off letting someone who is not try and write a Wikipedia article about it. You can probably find someone to do so or help with the draft at Wikipedia:Requested articles or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:02, 5 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Alexf(talk) 06:41, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
