Welcome and introduction edit

Hi, OttomanJackson. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:03, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Stop edit

Stop recreating these song articles, as they are not notable and fail WP:NMUSIC. Pyrrhus16 23:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, just to back up the above editor. The relevant policy is WP:MUSIC - it says "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. (However) a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album." Thanks, Black Kite (t) (c) 01:04, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notabilty edit

Notability is based on coverage in many, many reliable sources. Not on a handful and not on your original research or opinion. The images you added to the article were taken by Discogs off of google images and they have not credited the photographer, as it is clearly a photograph of the product and not just an album cover on its own. The images fail WP:FAIRUSE and are a copyright violation. Pyrrhus16 10:50, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

April 2010 edit

Stop edit warring by restoring the images to the "Speechless" article, when several editors are opposed to them. Use the article talk page, where these issues can be discussed. Continue along this route and you may be blocked from editing for edit-warring. Pyrrhus16 21:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Conquests (Civilization III Scenarios) edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Conquests (Civilization III Scenarios), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pyrrhus16 22:00, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: edit

Your articles are redirect and nominated for deletion because they are not independently notable, meaning that they are not written about in many, many reliable, third party sources. I think you would benefit from using the this to create any future articles. Pyrrhus16 22:18, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Theodosia Throckmorton edit

I have nominated Theodosia Throckmorton, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theodosia Throckmorton. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Pyrrhus16 22:28, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of OttomanJackson edit

A tag has been placed on OttomanJackson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, image description page, image talk page, mediawiki page, mediawiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Orphaned non-free image File:MJ Speechless Cover.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:MJ Speechless Cover.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. As there's no rush to accept submissions, you should always cleanup the article first. Right now there are several broken references, entire sections which must be removed, and poor sourcing.  fetchcomms 23:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Theodosia Throckmorton edit

The article Theodosia Throckmorton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable character

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~BLM (talk) 16:38, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you create an inappropriate page, such as Theodosia Throckmorton, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Do NOT recreate pages that you or others have created that have been recently deleted per consensus. I suggest you take the time to read some of the helpful links supplied above. What is your so-called "proof" OttomanJackson (talk) 22:21, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The duck test suggests that you are the same person, as you have a very similar pattern of edits. This edit backs up the suspicion, as well as this one to the image that is up for deletion that you created. Funny how an IP with a similar pattern of edits as you was able to stumble upon the image on Wikipedia and find the source of the photograph as well. If you are going to use your IP, I suggest that you not use it abusively as a means of escalating edit wars amongst other contributors opposed to your actions, as these type of people always get found out. Pyrrhus16 22:58, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: ??? edit

No, you cannot recreate the deleted page because other editors discussed the matter and stated that it should be deleted outright, with no redirect. The song articles that you create fail WP:NSONGS, so I suggest you stop and instead work on the thousands of song articles that already exist and that need improvement. Fair use rationale for File:$5000bill OttomanJackson.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:$5000bill OttomanJackson.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Notable and non-notable songs edit

Please read WP:MUSIC - it is quite clear. "Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for the songwriter, a prominent album or for the artist who prominently performed the song ... a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article." This is why there is an article for Revolution 9 - look at the detail there - and why there isn't for every single Michael Jackson song ever (or even every Beatles song ever!) - there simply aren't the reliable in-depth sources out there to create enough for a separate article for each one. All notable Michael Jackson songs have an article already. As the user above said, please don't disrupt Wikipedia to prove a point again - you will almost certainly be blocked. Speechless edit

Speechless was made a featured article on May 22, after discussions with many experienced reviewers on how exactly to word the article. Therefore, it is not helpful or acceptable to revert to a past version. Pyrrhus16 21:54, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

It was promoted to FA class on May 22. It is unlikely that it will be on the main page in the near future. Some information was removed or reworded in the article because reviewers for FA felt that it was needed for a good quality article. Pyrrhus16 22:06, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
There was too much information in the critical reception section of Speechless. Articles should be written in a summary style, meaning that not every fact has to be in an article. It is unlikely that Speechless will be on the main page soon because we have already had a few Michael Jackson-related articles appear on the main page in the past few months. Money was deleted by AFD discussion, so cannot be recreated. Pyrrhus16 22:20, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
