Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Otto Acron The world's most sensational strongman, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Otto Acron The world's most sensational strongman seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Otto Acron The world's most sensational strongman, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Need any help? edit

Dear Otto,

I have removed the copy of your article from the bottom of the Strongman (circus) article, because it was badly edited, had no citations and was misplaced (should have been in a separate article). Would you like me to help with creating a proper article on you? Since this is a free encyclopedia we have to be a bit pedantic about a few things, notably copyright. Could you clarify a few questions?

  • Who has the copyright of the text of the article on your user page? If you are the author and it was not comissioned by a newspaper for example, then you own the copyright and if you wish, we can use the text on Wikipedia.
  • Do you have any images we can safely use? Unfortunately we are not allowed by copyright law to use most images that appear in newspapers and promotional materials. Images from private persons who release the images to Wikipedia under a free license are the best, but images from other sources could also be used, if the copyright owner gives explicit permission for it. Could you check if we could use some of these images on your user page? In the worst case we may still be able to use low resolution copies under "fair use" terms.
  • Citations are very important on Wikipedia because otherwise anybody could add anything (read: lies). So it will be important to find citations for every significant claim in the article. Since it is for the most part about well publicized events, I am sure finding citations will be possible, but you are in a much better position to help with this than I am. Do you have any newspapers that report on these events? Online sources are valuable, because they can be quickly consulted to verify the reference, but printed media is well accepted too. If you have a biographical book that could be a great source too.

You can reply either here or on my talk page.--CyHawk (talk) 12:55, 4 July 2009 (UTC) Dear CyHawk,Reply

I would be very great full if you would help me.

1: Lifting the car on a platform. I had this photo taken by a friend..

2: Carrying the horse was taken by Stan Boswell, owner of Boswell’s Circus. This photo was used for newspaper articles and also made into a poster to promote the circus in that year. Mr Boswell gave me the negative of the photo of the horse and gave me the left over posters at the end of the season, before I moved on to England. As it is my own property I gave it to newspapers to use all over the world. Stan Boswell died in the sixties.

3:BOSWELL BROTHERS PRESS RELEASE OTTO ACRON This was sent to newspapers throughout South Africa by Boswell’s promotional manager.

4:The tug of war with the aeroplanes was taken by my wife and the best of all the photos was given to a free lance reporter.Juf van Ballegoyen de Jong 5: The photo of lifting the car was taken by my wife in rehearsals on the Mike Walsh Show. The photo was not included in the newspaper cutting, only a photo of Mike Walsh

6:FRASER COAST CHRONICLE Saturday, June 21, 1997 ACRON HOLDS PLANES I talked to the editor of the Frazer Coast Chronicle today and she said she has given me permission to use the photos and newspaper cuttings because it was years old.

I have written a book on my life. It is called “Extraordinary” but I still have to get it published.

I hope I have answered all your questions, and am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks again for your interest.

Otto Acron

Thanks for the answers, sounds like the images are free for use in Wikipedia! I went ahead and created an article for you: Otto Acron. It is practically copied from your user page, I just edited it a bit here and there. Feel free to fix it if I messed up something (I am not a native English speaker).
There are still a few things left to do: The first paragraph ("lead") will need to be expanded a bit, to sum up your claim to fame. Then I am sure there are references for the bodybuilding and power lifting competition results and they should be cited. And finally I became a bit confused with the distinction between strongman (circus) and strongman (strength athlete). I decided to split up your career into two parts corresponding to this change in the occupation itself.
Let me know what you think -- or just go ahead and edit it! --CyHawk (talk) 15:02, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:TOGOWAR.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:TOGOWAR.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. B (talk) 14:51, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

The plain English version of this template notice is that Wikipedia only accepts images released under a free content license, such as the Creative Commons Attribution license or the GFDL. Simply giving Wikipedia permission to use the image is not sufficient. --B (talk) 14:53, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Can you advise Otto on what should be done? Could the newspaper release the image under a CC or GFDL license over the phone? Perhaps email? Or should we use it instead under fair-use terms? We could also use another picture with clearer copyright status, but I think this one is the most expressive close-up. --CyHawk (talk) 14:59, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Boswell's-poster-4.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Boswell's-poster-4.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 17:05, 23 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
