Welcome!

edit

Hello, Othermikesmith, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for cathemerality. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

I'm going to have a quick look through your additions and format them to match Wikipedia's style although they look great already! Jack (talk) 15:07, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jack, I am somewhat baffled how to use the talk page, so this is partially a test to see if I am using it to communicate with you. I appreciate that a real human with an interest in primatology is reviewing my revision to cathemerality.
Thanks,
othermikesmith

The {{help me}} template will summon helpers from all over Wikipedia; if you want to make sure that Jack sees your answers, the easiest way would be to edit his talk page and add the following code (either at the very bottom or in a new section: {{talkback|Othermikesmith}} - that will leave a note that he has new messages at your talk page (ie here). Or you could write him directly at his own talk page. Huon (talk) 04:26, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Huon, is this the area where i should reply to you on my page? Or should i reply at the bottom?Othermikesmith (talk) 20:13, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's the right place, immediately below the message you're replying to. Huon (talk) 20:17, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
You're doing great so far! To reply on talk pages just click the [edit] link on the section you want to reply to. Then use colons for indentation (each colon gives one tab) and sign your post using four tildes (~~~~). If you want to write on someone else's talk page just click "New section" in the top bar (next to Edit) and that will automatically start a new conversation. Do you have any more plans for additions to Wikipedia? I can give you tips if there is anything that you want to do but don't quite know how to go about it yet. Cheers, Jack (talk) 09:32, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi and categories in your sandbox

edit

Hi othermikesmith and welcome to wikipedia! I was just on the Category:Ethology page and saw that your sandbox is listed on there. This is frowned upon - but don't get overly worried, I have made the same mistake. It occurs because an article you are writing in your sandbox contains the category "Ethology" and so your sandbox is automatically listed in the category. The easiest way to deal with it is delete the categories from your sandbox and then reenter them when you post the article. Hope this helps.
