File:Dariush Mozaffarian Portrait.jpg edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:Dariush Mozaffarian Portrait.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dariush Mozaffarian Portrait.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:35, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

  One of your recent additions has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. I apologize for this. It sounds as though the issue was that I typed the overview from both the GDD and Food-PRICE websites word for word, correct? If I don't type them word for word, just summarize in my own words, and link to their respective websites, would that be alright? Also, the section that was above the section on the Global Dietary Database has actually been on the page for a very long time. This was not from any website. That paragraph was explaining Dariush Mozaffarian's research interests. Can I put that back on the page? There were never any issues with that section before.Oszabo01 (talk) 01:22, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Regarding how to avoid violating Wikipedia's copyright policy, all content should be written in your own words. Cite your source. Regarding your second question, it doesn't matter how long a violation of the copyright policy sits in the article before it is discovered; such material is removed as soon as it is discovered. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:56, 17 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for this clarification. Can I then summarize text, in my own words, and then cite my sources? Can I do this directly in the article? Also, when will the error templates be removed from the article? Oszabo01 (talk) 02:37, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that is how you should incorporate information into wikipedia articles. For the error templates, they are removed by editors when they no longer apply. If you think one or all of them has been addressed, you can ask on the talk page if someone agrees and wants to remove them. Natureium (talk) 02:49, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

What is your connection with Dariush Mozaffarian? Natureium (talk) 23:40, 13 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am Dariush Mozaffarian's project administratorOszabo01 (talk) 01:03, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi Oszabo01 and welcome to Wikipedia. You have admitted to editing with a conflict of interest, therefore please stop deleting the necessary templates. I am going to give you instructions on editing with a conflict of interest below. Most importantly, if you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:31, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. When will those error messages disappear from the page? I know you deleted the content that was in question so I am wondering how long those templates will remain on the page.Oszabo01 (talk) 20:12, 15 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Oszabo01. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:31, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Dariush Mozaffarian Portrait.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dariush Mozaffarian Portrait.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:43, 17 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I believe that this file is not replaceable so I clicked the link the file description page to provide my reason, but it says that the page does not exist. Where can I put my reason so I can dispute this? Thank you Oszabo01 (talk) 01:57, 21 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I am just following-up on this. Since the page no longer exists, do I upload the photo again, but this time provide more information on why it is not replaceable? Oszabo01 (talk) 13:39, 22 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
