Peer Review Feedback Hi! I found your section of the transgender voice article to be very informative and I learned a lot from reading it. I just have a few suggestions to help improve the article: 1) Explain what voice resonance is the first time it comes up as people reading the article may not be familiar with this term. Also, I would suggest changing frequency to pitch in the fundamental frequency section as again people may not know what your are speaking about when you talk about changing the frequency. 2) Add a reference to the following line: “Other characteristics that have been explored include inflection patterns, loudness, speech rate, speech-sound articulation and duration.” 3) The word “transsexual” is used a few times throughout the article. I would suggest changing this to “transgender.” 4) Directly under “voice characteristics” I would suggest talking mainly about how the characteristics that make a voice sound more feminine varies from person to person. I would put the information about fundamental frequency once being thought of as the most effective characteristic under the ‘fundamental frequency’ section. 5) In the ‘voice resonance’ section I would suggest directly saying how changing the length of the vocal tract changes resonance and therefore changes the pitch. All of that information is in the section but the relationship between resonance, length, and pitch is not clear. I can’t wait to read the finished article! Hello Melissa,

Thank you for your feedback! It is very helpful. You're right, I need to explain voice resonance. I will do so. And refer to pitch. I removed the word transsexual; some papers used it and I got mixed up. Oops! I will shuffle things around like you said so that they made more sense.

Thanks again! Oozav (talk) 00:12, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
